Social media reacts: 4-Star EDGE Danny Okoye commits to the Oklahoma Sooners

Social media reacts to the commitment of 2024 four-star DE Danny Okoye, another blue chip DL for 2024 and the No. 1 player in the state of Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Sooners football program has done an incredible job on the recruiting trail since arriving in Norman in December of 2021. They’ve secured a pair of top-ten classes, one of which was a top-five class in the 2023 cycle. They look well on their way to another great recruiting class in 2024.

The latest addition was in-state talent [autotag]Danny Okoye[/autotag], a four-star prospect who plays for NOAH. He’s an incredible athlete who can do backflips at 6-foot-4 and 240 lbs and deadlift more than three times his weight at over 700 pounds.

Danny Okoye’s commitment highlights the work the Sooners have done this cycle to put together an incredible group along the defensive line. Okoye joins [autotag]David Stone[/autotag], [autotag]Nigel Smith[/autotag], [autotag]Jayden Jackson[/autotag], and [autotag]Wyatt Gilmore[/autotag] in the 2024 cycle. When this group gets to Norman, it will arguably be the best defensive line recruiting hall in the history of the program and also provide incredible competitive depth to the Sooners defensive front.

With Okoye, they added a disruptive talent who has a chance to be an elite pass rusher at the next level.

With the addition of Okoye, the Sooners move up to No. 7 in the 247Sports team rankings, No. 5 over at Rivals, and No. 8 in On3’s rankings.

Brent Venables and his staff have the Sooners recruiting elite defensive prospects again and here’s how social media reacted.

Social media blasts Minkah Fitzpatrick for injury to Browns RB Nick Chubb

NFL fans quickly took to Twitter to blame Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick for the knee injury to Browns’ Nick Chubb.

When a player suffers an injury, specifically a devastating, potentially career-ending one, fans look for someone to blame. During the Monday Night Football battle between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns, it was Minkah Fitzpatrick.

On a handoff from Deshaun Watson, Chubb drove up the middle and was hit directly on the knee by Fitzpatrick. Audible gasps fell over the crowd at Acrisure Stadium, indicating the replay was shown on the Jumbotron. Steelers fans chanted “Chubb” and gave him a standing ovation as he was carted off the field.

But NFL fans, particularly of the Browns persuasion, weren’t so classy when it came to the Steelers’ involvement.

Twitter reacts to another bad Commanders’ snap

Cheeseman was trending.

Washington long snapper Camaron Cheeseman was trending during the first quarter of the Commanders’ first-quarter game Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

That can’t be a good thing, right?

On Washington’s first drive of the game, quarterback Sam Howell brought to the Commanders near the red zone before a sack pushed them out, leading a field-goal attempt from kicker Joey Slye.

However, another ugly snap from Cheeseman led to a missed kick and a wasted opportunity for Washington.

Cheeseman had issues all summer with his snaps, as the coaches and punter Tress Way said he was working on a new grip. In Week 1, Cheeseman had another bad snap, but Way and Slye rescued him by making the field goal.

Not this time and Twitter wasn’t happy.

Remember, head coach Ron Rivera said last week the following about Cheeseman last week:

“Well, it is a concern more than anything else,” Rivera said. “And so we’ll just continue to have Camaron snap, and until, unfortunately, something happens, then we’ll decide from there. But right now, we’re handling it.

Well, something happened.

Twitter responded.

Social Media Reacts: OU, Texas only ranked Big 12 teams and fans let Brett Yormark know about it

The Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns were the only ranked teams for the Big 12 in both polls this week and fans let Brett Yormark hear about it.

After Kansas State lost to Missouri by a field goal, the Wildcats dropped out of the US LBM Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25. That left only the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns in the polls following Week 3.

The future of the conference has been one of the biggest talking points across the college football landscape, and commissioner Brett Yormark has been vocal about his league’s future without OU and Texas.

As he should be. The commissioner’s No. 1 job is to promote his league. Yormark has done a really good job at revitalizing a brand that looked like a league left for dead in the aftermath of the announcement by Oklahoma and Texas of their pending departures.

At the same time, when you publicly talk about how you’ll be fine without the two blue bloods, you have to know those words will come back at you from college football fans.

And that’s what happened on Sunday after the latest polls were released. Only the Red River Rivals represented the conference, and fans let Yormark have it. Here’s how social media reacted.

Here are some of the Tweets by fans and others after the heartbreaking loss:

Social media reacts to the Oklahoma Sooners big win over Tulsa

The Oklahoma Sooners put on an incredible performance in their 66-17 win over Tulsa and here’s how social media reacted.

The Oklahoma Sooners’ win over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane was a fantastic way to end the nonconference portion of the schedule. The Sooners won, 66-17, and did so in dominating fashion.

Though Tulsa mounted impressive drives in the second quarter, the Sooners’ defense was in control for much of the rest of the game.

It was another comfortable win for Oklahoma before its opens Big 12 play next week. It received big-time performances from a number of players, starting with quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who had one of the best games of his career.

The big margin allowed for the Sooners to continue to build their competitive depth, and that was on display on Saturday afternoon in a dominant performance.

Here’s how social media reacted to the win.

WATCH: BYU fan leaves message in the sky for Razorback fans

One creative BYU fan and pilot used the skies to send a message to Arkansas fans before the Hogs and Cougars face off in Fayetteville.

Cue “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggains and grab a pair of Aviators.

The Arkansas and BYU fanbases have had a very respectful and cordial relationship these last two season. Seeing as though the two programs had never met before last year, there was barely any trash talk or hard feelings between fans like one might see during SEC games.

In fact, following last seasons game, which Arkansas won 52-35, Razorback fans came away talking very highly of the hospitality and generosity exhibited by Cougars fans. However, there’s still a game to be played and both fanbases will be loudly and proudly cheering on their teams come kickoff.

In that vein, a Twitter (X) user and BYU fan, who goes by the name Capt Butter, took to the skies to share a message ahead of Saturday’s game. Using a “some Google Earth magic and precise turns” the pilot was able create BYU logo and spell out “BEAT ARKANSAS” with his flight path.

The pilot mentioned in the comments how the flight path covered over 35 nautical miles near the Canadian border in Northwest Washington. Talk about dedication! BYU wins the contest for coolest display of fandom for this week, but let’s hope that the Cougars don’t actually win the game on Saturday night.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT from Fayetteville and coverage will be on ESPN2.

Social media reacts to Commanders’ Week 1 win over Cardinals

Twitter reactions from Washington’s Week 1 win. They were all over the place.

The Washington Commanders are 1-0 after Sunday’s 20-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals. While some — certainly not the Commanders — felt this would be a more lopsided affair, it was a competitive game from start to finish.

Washington did help the Cardinals with three first-half turnovers, one which took points off the board and another giving Arizona its only touchdown of the day.

But the Commanders won. That’s all that matters, right?

Sunday was a big day for Washington and for far more than just the game. It was the start of a new era. FedEx Field was sold out, the new ownership team was present, and the Commanders welcomed back multiple former stars, such as John Riggins and Champ Bailey.

As with any NFL Sunday, social media had plenty of reactions — and overreactions. Here are some from the Commanders’ Week 1 win.

Social media reacts to the Oklahoma Sooners’ 28-11 win over the SMU Mustangs

The Oklahoma Sooners beat SMU behind a strong defensive performance and here’s how social media reacted.

The game grew a little hairy in the second half when the SMU Mustangs broke through for their only touchdown of the day and a two-point conversion to make it a three-point game.

Then the Sooners’ defense did something we’re not quite accustomed to. It kept the Mustangs from gaining any more momentum. The defense did that.

It was a game where the offensive play-calling was conservative and the offense struggled to find a rhythm in the second and third quarters. But the defense stood tall, allowing only 11 points to an SMU team that has a really good offense.

With the win, the Sooners move to 2-0, and here’s how social media reacted:

Reactions to Michigan football’s 35-7 win over UNLV

Some really great stuff here. #GoBlue

Michigan football dominated yet another Group of Five team, this time in Week 2, with UNLV coming to Ann Arbor for a 35-7 Wolverines win.

The maize and blue had multiple aspects working, primarily the defensive line and Blake Corum, who had three touchdowns. But the story of the game, at least when it comes to social media reactions, is the play of quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who threw for 278 yards on 22-for-25 passing, with two more touchdowns to wide receiver Roman Wilson.

Several media members and prominent Michigan fans had big reactions to the game on X, formerly known as Twitter. Here are our favorite reactions to the Week 2 win.
