Social media reacts to the Oklahoma Sooners’ incredible win over the Texas Longhorns

Social media was on fire after the Oklahoma Sooners beat the Texas Longhorns 34-30. Here are some of the best reactions from Sooner Nation

As the Oklahoma Sooners built their 5-0 record to start the season, the national narrative was the Sooners hadn’t played anyone as good as the Texas Longhorns.

This was a huge test for an Oklahoma Sooners team looking to remind everyone what Oklahoma football was all about. In their 34-30 win, the Sooners passed the test with flying colors and announced they are for real in 2023.

They’re 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Big 12. They’ve exorcised the 49-0 and 6-7 demons from the 2022 season, and this team looks much more like the team many thought they’d get when Brent Venables was hired to be the head coach.

The Sooners are a tough team, emulating their head coach. They have a never-say-die attitude, battling to the very last whistle of the game. In our five takeaways from the win, I discussed that it’s time to “Believe in BV.”

[autotag]Dillon Gabriel[/autotag] was phenomenal, and the defense came up clutch in huge moments despite giving up a lot of yards.

The win puts the Sooners in the driver’s seat to get back into the Big 12 title game for the first time since 2020 and will assuredly put them into the top 10 when the polls come out.

But as we revel in the win, here’s how social media reacted to Oklahoma’s 34-30 win over the Texas Longhorns.

Twitter reacts to Jonathan Taylor’s contract extension

Here’s how Twitter reacted to the big news of Jonathan Taylor’s contract extension.

The Indianapolis Colts and running back Jonathan Taylor agreed to a three-year contract extension, according to multiple reports Saturday, and Twitter had a field day with the news.

The agreement ends a long dispute between the two sides as the running back market continued to depreciate over the course of the offseason. In what seems like a solid deal for both sides, Taylor is now the third-highest paid back in average annual salary ($14 million) and his guaranteed money ($26.5 million) also ranks third among active backs.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to the news of Taylor’s contract extension:

The Commanders being ridiculed by NFL nation

Social media is having fun at the expense of the Commanders — still.

NFL Nation is still talking Commanders.

For their performance Thursday night, as expected, the Commanders are the subject of ridicule and the butt of jokes around the country.

Here are several of those jokes, courtesy of social media.

Bears fans were thrilled with the 1st half performance vs. Washington

The Bears had an excellent first half vs. the Commanders and fans loved what they saw.

Did that first half really just happen? The Chicago Bears looked like a brand-new team during the first half of their Thursday Night Football matchup against the Washington Commanders. Chicago is pouring it on, leading 27-3 at the half.

The Bears started hot to open the game and didn’t let up. Quarterback Justin Fields went 12-of-20 for 189 yards and three touchdowns. It was the second game in a row where he threw for three scores after his outing against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. D.J. Moore accounted for 137 of those yards and two scores as he torched Washington’s defense.

Speaking of defense, the Bears front four finally turned up the heat and made life difficult for Sam Howell. They held the Commanders offense to just three points and got a pick late in the second quarter. It was all Bears for the first 30 minutes.

Naturally, fans were loving it and couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Here’s how fans reacted on social media.

Twitter reacts to Sam Howell’s performance vs. Eagles

Sam Howell bounces back. How did social media react to his performance?

Washington Commanders quarterback Sam Howell had a game to forget in last week’s 37-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Afterward, Howell stood in front of the media and accepted responsibility for his performance, even for things that weren’t his fault.

On Wednesday, Howell again spoke to the media, offering no excuses, not throwing teammates under the bus, and said he must be better. When a reporter asked Howell about being a young quarterback, he responded that defenses didn’t care if he was a young quarterback.

The ultimate test for Howell is how he would respond on the field. And he was facing a stiff test in the Philadelphia Eagles and their vaunted defensive line.

Howell aced the test. While the Commanders lost to the Eagles 34-31 in overtime, Howell put Washington on his back, completing 29 of 41 passes for 290 yards and a touchdown. Howell led the Commanders on a game-tying drive as time expired to send the game into overtime.

Twitter — or X — showered Howell with praise after his performance in Sunday’s loss to the Eagles.

Bears fans are inconsolable after their shocking loss vs. Broncos

Bears fans are going through it on social media after their crushing loss to the Broncos.

There is no rock bottom for the Chicago Bears. There is only a pit of despair that is never-ending. The Bears suffered perhaps their worst loss in franchise history when they blew a 21-point lead to the Denver Broncos, losing 31-28 to remain winless at 0-4.

This game was all Bears for the first three quarters. Chicago was up 28-7 with just over four minutes left in the third quarter, but allowed the Broncos back in the game with soft defense, costly turnovers, and a coaching decision that deserves to be enshrined in the Hall of Shame. On 4th and short just outside of the red zone with the game tied, the Bears opted to go for the kill instead of taking the field goal and burned a timeout in the process. They were stopped short, and Denver responded with a field goal to take the lead. Justin Fields’ lone interception of the game on the final drive sealed the game.

All of this happened despite Fields throwing four touchdowns, three of which came in the first half. But what should have been an easy win is now a crushing loss that has fans wondering how head coach Matt Eberflus keeps his job going forward.

Here is what Bears fans are saying on social media following the loss.

Media reactions from Michigan football’s win over Nebraska

You’re gonna love these reactions! #GoBlue

Michigan took the Cornhuskers right off the cob during Saturday’s 45-7 win.

Michigan advances to 5-0 and has a strong case to be considered the best team in all of college football with Georgia struggling. The Wolverines played a complete game and dominated Nebraska in all three phases of the game.

Harbaugh benched the starters with just over five minutes remaining in the third quarter in an effort to preserve them and gave younger players reps.

As per usual, Michigan sports the best fan base (and media coverage) of any college in the nation. Check out some of the best tweets from fans, media personalities, and more.

Twitter reacts to Cowboys’ 28-16 desert disaster vs Cardinals

From @ToddBrock24f7: Social media had a field day with the Cowboys’ pathetic performance against the winless Cardinals.

Just when the national football media had settled in to the notion that the Cowboys were deserving of a top spot in power rankings and a place in the conversation about historically elite defenses… another trip to the Arizona desert once again provides a plot twist, this time upending the team’s sky-high September story.

Next to nothing went right for Dallas in Week 3, as the previously winless Cardinals reinforced the somber truth behind the old any-given-Sunday adage and brought the Cowboys and their fanbase crashing back down to earth over the course of an embarrassing 28-16 defeat. As usual, social media had plenty to say about all the action as it unfolded.

Social media reacts to Commanders’ ugly loss to the Bills

Some of the top reactions from the Commanders’ blowout loss to the Bills.

When you lose a game by 34 points, there’s a lot of blame to go around. That statement certainly rings true in the case of the Washington Commanders, who were blown out, 37-3, by the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Washington turned the ball over five times in the loss — four were interceptions by quarterback Sam Howell — and allowed nine sacks.

Defensively, the Commanders weren’t terrible, but Bills quarterback Josh Allen was hit just once in 32 dropbacks.

After two wins to begin the season, Washington fans had to experience a loss for the first time on Sunday. How did they react?

We went to Twitter/X to find some of the best reactions regarding Sunday’s ugly loss.

Defense is Back: Social media reacts to the Oklahoma Sooners 20-6 win over Cincinnati

The Oklahoma Sooners got a strong performance from the defense in their win over Cincinnati and here’s how social media reacted.

The Oklahoma Sooners look like they’ve found a defense. After holding Cincinnati to six points, the Sooners are now allowing just 8.5 points per game this season.

That’s the lowest number through four games since 2009.

They received strong performances from several big names on the defense as they held one of the best running teams in the country to less than four yards per carry in the win.

Once again, the Sooners won the turnover battle, picking off two Emory Jones passes to stymie potential scoring drives.

It was a game that never really felt in doubt despite the offense’s inability to run the ball or sustain drives. And that should be a scary thought that this team can still get better.

As we revel in the Sooners win, here’s how social media reacted.
