It not only pays to be good, but it also pays to be fortunate on the gridiron. That is something that the Minnesota Vikings have had so far this season.
One of the more important stats to track is turnover margin. In simple terms, it’s turnovers forced minus the times you give the ball away.
Being positive in the turnover margin can have an incredible impact. As the Vikings currently sit second in turnover margin, the only team that is better are the Philadelphia Eagles, as both teams sit at 8-1 on the season.
The #Vikings have moved up to second on the NFL in turnover margin at plus-8 (behind Philadelphia's plus-13). That's obviously been a huge factor in why they're 8-1.

Turnover luck is a real thing and something that you can only control so much of. Why is that? While you can make all the great decisions you want, there are too many variables, mainly batted and tipped passes, there is a considerable amount of luck involved.
The Vikings hopefully can keep that up throughout the rest of the season.
