Broncos C Luke Wattenberg was activated from IR and FB Michael Burton and LB Zach Cunningham were elevated to the game-day roster.

The Denver Broncos made a few roster moves leading up to Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The first domino fell on Monday when the Broncos traded pass rusher Baron Browning to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick. To fill Browning’s old spot on the active roster, Denver activated center Luke Wattenberg (ankle) from injured reserve to the 53-man roster on Saturday.

Additionally, Denver elevated fullback Michael Burton and linebacker Zach Cunningham from the practice squad to the game-day roster for Week 10. Burton and Cunningham will revert back to the practice squad on Monday.

Cordarrelle Patterson’s versatility and work ethic are matched by none

Cordarrelle Patterson’s return highlights his unmatched work ethic and versatility, key traits that make him a standout for the Steelers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ gem of the 2024 free agency is, without a doubt, RB Cordarrelle Patterson. While many expected the former All-Pro kick returner to contribute immediately on special teams, his humor, work ethic on and off the field, and willingness to do whatever it takes for his team to win are why he is becoming an all-time favorite in the Steel City.

Patterson recently let Pittsburgh know that, whatever the team needs, he will be there. Fans caught a glimpse of his general manager-like recruiting skills during the lead-up to the trade deadline, but Patterson wants to do even more for the Black and Gold faithful.

Could Steelers fans see the now-healthy Patterson utilized more in the receiving game moving forward? After all, the former WR turned RB has always possessed elite receiving skills in his repertoire.

Patterson will make his long-awaited Steelers return in Week 10 against the Washington Commanders after missing four games with an ankle injury.

Former Steeler showing his true colors with new team already?

Diontae Johnson only played five snaps on Thursday night for the Ravens.

The reason the Pittsburgh Steelers traded wide receiver Diontae Johnson this past offseason wasn’t because he can’t play. It’s because his talent did not outweigh the potential problems he brought to the roster both on and off the field.

However, after trading Johnson to the Carolina Panthers, he only made it through half of a season before the Panthers fire sale sent him packing to the Baltimore Ravens. However, it sounds like all isn’t great for Johnson. On Thursday night, against the Cincinnati Bengals, Johnson only played five snaps.

This seemingly caused Johnson to take to social media to air his grievances and make sure people know the reason he didn’t play much isn’t what you think.

Johnson had one reception on his five snaps Thursday night. Johnson caught the final pass of the game but was unable to get out of bounds and stop the clock after being tackled by another former Steelers, cornerback Mike Hilton.

Baron Browning gives his honest reaction after trade from Broncos

“It’s always good to feel wanted,” Baron Browning said of the Cardinals trade. “You don’t want to talk to the girl who doesn’t want you.”

Earlier this week, the Denver Broncos traded pass rusher Baron Browning to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick.

Browning and fellow edge defender Jonathon Cooper were both scheduled to become free agents in 2025 and the Broncos decided to keep Cooper, signing him to a four-year contract extension.

Cooper (5.5 sacks) and Nik Bonitto (6.0 sacks) were productive while Browning was on injured reserve this season, so it made sense for Denver to trade the outside linebacker for more draft capital.

After landing in Tempe, Arizona, Browning spoke to Cardinals media members for the first time on Wednesday. He was honest in his assessment of the situation and understanding of the team’s decision.

“We had a very talented room in Denver,” Browning said, via Howard Balzer of Cards Wire. “I was coming off an injury. Coop was playing well. Nik was playing well, so I think too they can’t pay both of us so just understanding the business side of it.”

Browning had a hunch that he might be on the move, but he remained a team-first player right up to the trade.

“I didn’t want to be a distraction to my teammates, be a distraction to my unit back in Denver,” the pass rusher said. “I was just ready for it to be done just to kinda get this fresh start and show what I can do. I know I’m a starter in this league and I know I can play at a high level so I’m just excited about this opportunity to do that here.”

Browning will now get a fresh start with the Cardinals, a team that had a high grade on him in the 2021 NFL draft.

“It’s always good to feel wanted,” Browning said. “You don’t want to talk to the girl who doesn’t want you. I would say it’s the same thing. I’m just happy they wanted me and I’m happy to be here.”

WR Mike Williams feels ready to make big time plays for Pittsburgh

WR Mike Williams let Pittsburgh fans know exactly who he is and what he’s capable of—a playmaker who will earn the right to be on the field.

The Pittsburgh Steelers winning culture has clearly resonated with WR Mike Williams, who has shown nothing less than the heart of a champion since his arrival.

In an article titled “Week 10 Blog: Focus still on stopping the run” on the Steelers’ official website, fans can find Williams’ comments about what he brings to the Steel City, stating: “I’m a playmaker. I want to make plays. I want to get the ops. I’m going to go out and work and show that I deserve to be on the field.”

Williams’ passion and desire are completely understandable, as the WR seemingly fell out of favor with Jets QB Aaron Rodgers, which Williams summarized as the beginning of the end of his time in New York.

Will Steelers fans be able to witness the Russell Wilson-Williams combination begin as early as Week 10’s game against the 7-2 Washington Commanders? Fans can look forward to this matchup, which can only be described as a battle of the behemoths, on November 10th at 1:00 PM EST.

Sean Payton implies an NFL team wanted a 2nd-round pick from Broncos

“I don’t think we even got close to discussing someone seriously,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said after the NFL trade deadline.

The Denver Broncos sent outside linebacker Baron Browning to the Arizona Cardinals this week in exchange for a late-round draft pick.

Broncos general manager George Paton and coach Sean Payton decided to part with one player, but Denver did not acquire any new players ahead of the NFL’s trade deadline.

Payton was asked about not bringing in any new talent after Wednesday’s practice.

“I like this group and then it’s just a matter of who’s… We weren’t considering giving up a second-[round draft pick],” Payton said. “Or, in other words, I think a lot of it is ‘who’ [is available]. The NFL train, I talk about it all the time. We don’t know who’s driving it yet, but we listen to it, that’s fine. When you really look at it closely. The phone rings, we pick up and yet we have to look at it in the eyes of what’s best for our team.

“We didn’t feel like… I don’t think we even got close to discussing someone seriously. Some teams will have a player that’s available — well that’s different — they’re available in their price range. But hey. We’re focused on this team.”

Payton seemed to imply that the Broncos did have conversations with other teams about potential trades, but the price tags were simply too high.

Payton obviously did not reveal which players they called about and which team seemingly asked for a second-round pick. Some fans wanted Denver to trade for Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku or Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. It wouldn’t be surprising if either team wanted a second-round pick for those players.

With the trade deadline passed, the Broncos can only add free agents from now until the spring. Silly season is over. Now attention turns toward the second half of the NFL season.

Is Preston Smith the missing piece Pittsburgh has been searching for?

Preston Smith, the newly acquired Steelers’ OLB at the 2024 trade deadline, could be the difference maker Pittsburgh has been looking for.

The true difference maker from the trade deadline acquisitions for the Pittsburgh Steelers may be the second trade the team made—for none other than former Packers’ OLB Preston Smith.

The 31-year-old Smith provides Pittsburgh with a tremendous amount of starting experience off the edge, in which he has accumulated 68.5 career sacks in 155 games played.  He only cost the Steelers a 2025-seventh round draft pick.

After losing OLB Alex Highsmith to injury in Week 3, the team lost two straight contests to the Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys in Weeks 4 and 5, respectively. While backup OLB Nick Herbig filled in admirably, he too would suffer an injury.

While Highsmith would eventually return to Pittsburgh in Week 7, the Steelers now have a very capable starter in Smith, who is relishing his opportunity to sack opposing quarterbacks.

The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be gearing up for a deep playoff run, focusing on keeping their defensive line loaded and healthy, with elite players like T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, Nick Herbig, Preston Smith, Cameron Heyward, Keeanu Benton, and Larry Ogunjobi ready to wreck opposing offenses.

What jersey number will Marshon Lattimore wear for Commanders?

Marshon Lattimore will wear a familiar number for Washington.

Marshon Lattimore has worn No. 23 since entering the NFL ahead of the 2017 season. Lattimore spent the first 7.5 seasons of his career with the New Orleans Saints, where he was a former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and a four-time Pro Bowler.

On Tuesday, the Saints traded Lattimore to the Washington Commanders. However, the Commanders already have someone wearing No. 23: second-year running back Chris Rodriguez Jr.

Rodriguez, who began this season on the practice squad, has been elevated to the 53-man roster three times and played a pivotal role in Sunday’s win over the Giants. Rodriguez ran for a team-high 52 yards and was on the field throughout the fourth quarter.

So, while Rodriguez has the number, he’s not stopping the newly acquired Pro Bowl cornerback from getting it. The Commanders announced that Lattimore will wear No. 23.

As for Rodriguez, he spoke to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post and explained why giving up the number was no big deal.

It’s easy to see why this team is so close. Everyone buys into head coach Dan Quinn’s team-first mindset. Rodriguez has proven that this season, which is evident in his decision to give up his number.
