Texas offers 2023 South Oak Cliff EDGE Billy Walton

Walton is gaining attention from some of the top programs in the state.

2023 edge rusher Billy Walton is one of the fastest-rising players in the state, and he’s had a busy last couple of months.

After helping South Oak Cliff win their first state championship in program history, Walton has received offers from the likes of TCU, SMU, Texas A&M and many others.

The three-star from South Oak Cliff picked up an offer from Texas on Thursday.

New Texas running backs coach Tashard Choice was Walton’s primary recruiter at Georiga Tech. That prior relationship should prove to be valuable in the Longhorns recruitment of Walton.

Walton had a monster junior season where he totaled 55 tackles, 21 TFLs and 12 sacks. His 6-foot-3, 230-pound frame projects well to be an effective pass rusher at the next level.

Expect to see many more offers roll in for Walton going into his senior season.

Texas lands three-star ATH Savion Red over SMU

One of the more underrated recruits in the state.

The recruiting momentum continues as Texas lands commitment No. 4 on the day with do-it-all athlete Savion Red.

Texas is hoping that they found a diamond in the rough in the Grand Prairie product. 247Sports has Red rated as a three-star recruit and the No. 205 prospect in the state of Texas.

It remains to be seen what position Red will play at the next level. During his high school career, Red showed the ability to play quarterback, running back, wide receiver and even some linebacker.

Between Red’s 5-foot-10, 210-pound frame and Texas wanting to take a second running back this class, starting Red as a running back/slot wide receiver would be a good fit.

In magical senior season at Grand Prairie, Red lead the Gophers to their first playoff win and appearance in over 32 years. He totaled over 2,200 yards and 28 touchdowns while playing both quarterback and wide receiver.

Check out this clip of Red laying the boom on a defender:

Early period signing day is on Wednesday, Dec. 18. Texas currently is the highest-ranked Big 12 team in the 2020 class, with Oklahoma being the closest to the Longhorns at No. 10.
