Fantasy football Week 4 waiver wire adds: Justin Jefferson’s time

Looking at the breakout fantasy football performers of the week and ranking the top waiver wire adds for Week 4.

A pair of rookie wide receivers broke out in a big way in Week 3. Fantasy football roster managers will need to head to the waiver wire to see if they’re still available or were recently dropped by frustrated league-mates. Below, we look at the top waiver wire adds for Week 4 of the fantasy football season and beyond.

Fantasy football Week 4 waiver adds

Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson

Jefferson caught seven of nine targets for 175 yards and his first professional touchdown against the Tennessee Titans in Week 3, after being targeted a total of six times in his first two games. The first-round pick out of LSU also played a season-high 78% of the offensive snaps and is the clear No. 2 option to Adam Thielen in the Vikings’ passing attack.

He took full advantage of his first start and will continue to thrive with the Vikings having favorable upcoming passing matchups against the Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons in the next three weeks. He should be viewed as a weekly WR3 for the remainder of the season.

San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk

In just his second game of the season, Aiyuk caught five of eight targets for 70 yards and also carried the ball three times for 31 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

The 49ers’ injuries continued to pile up in Week 3, with TE Jordan Reed joining TE George Kittle and WR Deebo Samuel on the shelf. The 49ers’ next two games are against the Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins, promising further production from Aiyuk, especially if the others are allowed additional time to recover with the soft schedule.

Chicago Bears TE Jimmy Graham

Graham, a five-time Pro Bowler but not since 2017, had a resurgent performance against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3. He caught six of 10 targets for 60 yards and two touchdowns. Both Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles connected with Graham for a TD.

Foles is the Bears’ newly-named starter for Week 4 and beyond. He has long favored tight ends in the passing game, dating back to his time with the Philadelphia Eagles. Look for Graham to become a reliable third option in the Bears’ passing attack and a low-tier TE1 at a thin position group around the league.

Miami Dolphins RB Myles Gaskin

Gaskin has fully emerged as the Dolphins’ workhorse back despite the offseason additions of Jordan Howard and Matt Breida. He played a season-high 75% of the offensive snaps in Week 3 and topped 60% for the third week in a row.

The Dolphins will rarely have a favorable schedule and they have a particularly tough Week 4 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks in what will need to be a pass-heavy game for Miami. Use this time to add Gaskin with other fantasy managers focused elsewhere.

San Francisco 49ers RB Jeff Wilson

Wilson carried the ball 12 times for just 15 yards but found the end zone and added three receptions for 54 yards and another score through the air in the 49ers’ Week 3 rout of the New York Giants. Starter RB Jerick McKinnon also suffered a ribs injury and could be joining Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman on the sidelines.

Fantasy football Week 3 waiver adds: Replacing running backs

Looking at the top fantasy football waiver adds for Week 3 with top injury replacements at running back.

Week 2 of the 2020 NFL season saw a rash of injuries to top running backs leaving many fantasy football roster managers scrambling for replacements on the waiver wire heading into Week 3. Below, we look at the top waiver adds for Week 3 of the fantasy football season and beyond.

Fantasy football Week 3 waiver adds

Carolina Panthers RB Mike Davis

Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey, the consensus No. 1 pick of the 2020 fantasy football season, is expected to miss 4-6 weeks due to a high-ankle sprain. With the Panthers’ bye not until Week 13, that means he’ll miss 4-6 games.

Davis joined the Panthers last season but touched the ball just twice in five games on the active roster. Given his first real opportunity once C-Mac left the game in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he caught all eight of his targets for 74 yards, surprisingly showing he can at least manage in McCaffrey’s dual-threat role.

New York Giants RB Dion Lewis

Another backup expected to ascend straight into a high-volume lead role, Lewis will have first crack at replacing Saquon Barkley, who was ruled out for the season due to a torn ACL.

Three years removed from his career-best season with the New England Patriots, Lewis can also fill roles in both the running and passing games. He totaled 56 yards from scrimmage with a rushing touchdown in Week 2.

San Francisco 49ers RB Jerick McKinnon

Long considered to be on the roster bubble, McKinnon has stuck with the 49ers through his own injuries and now prepares to take over the starting role with Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman falling to injury in Week 2.

McKinnon carried the ball three times for 77 yards and a touchdown in Week 2’s soft matchup against the New York Jets. It’s still unknown how much time both Mostert and Coleman will miss, but McKinnon should have a sizable role for favorable upcoming matchups against the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins.

Free-agent RB Devonta Freeman

Currently unemployed following his offseason release from the Atlanta Falcons, Freeman has been on the free-agent visit tour for some time to no avail. The two-time Pro Bowler should land somewhere now with so many openings. He requires a leap of faith, but he’s the best available option for teams looking for a replacement from outside of the organization.

Los Angeles Chargers RB Joshua Kelley

Through two weeks, Kelley has proven to be a viable fantasy option as the No. 2 back in Los Angeles behind Austin Ekeler. While Ekeler has started both games, the two have both carried the ball 35 times. Ekeler leads in yards, but Kelley is the only one with a touchdown.

The Chargers’ potential shift to rookie QB Justin Herbert should put even more emphasis on the running game and there’ll be plenty of work to go around.

Green Bay Packers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling

MVS is the Packers’ second-leading receiver behind Davante Adams through two weeks with seven receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown. He’s the top receiver widely available on waiver wires.

The group is flushed out by Packers WR Allen Lazard, Falcons WR Russell Gage, Jacksonville Jaguars WR Keenan Cole and Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis.
