Does former Georgia Bulldog wide receiver Terry Godwin’s latest one-handed catch top his catch against Notre Dame?

Former Georgia Bulldogs standout receiver Terry Godwin continues to make great catches. Godwin, who made an outstanding one-handed catch against Notre Dame in college, has bounced around the NFL throughout his career. Now, he is plays for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL.

Titans waive four players ahead of second cutdown day

The Titans waived four players ahead of the second cutdown day on Tuesday.

The Tennessee Titans parted ways with four players on Monday, the day before the team has to trim its roster down to 80 players.

The four players getting the boot are outside linebacker Justin Lawler, wide receiver Terry Godwin, defensive back Shyheim Carter and cornerback Shakur Brown. Brown and Carter were waived with injury designations.

The injury to Brown is extra unfortunate, as the former USFL standout had a great shot to make the roster after showing out upon arriving in Nashville. In fact, we had him on our latest 53-man roster projection before news of him being waived came out.

With the moves, the Titans’ roster now sits at 81 players, which means they have one more player to cut. Rosters must be trimmed down by 4 p.m. ET Tuesday.

After their preseason Week 2 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday night, the Titans will be back on the practice field on Monday.

Titans sign Terry Godwin, waive Juwan Green

The Titans swapped receivers on their offseason roster on Thursday.

Tennessee Titans fans have been waiting for the team to make a move at the wide receiver position this offseason, and while the team did make one on Thursday, it wasn’t the splash move fans are hoping for.

The team announced it has swapped out wide receivers, signing Terry Godwin and waiving wideout Juwan Green, who was signed earlier this offseason after a successful workout.

A former seventh-round pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2019, Godwin hasn’t played in a game since the 2020 season, when he appeared in three for the Jacksonville Jaguars and caught three passes for 32 yards.

Godwin also returned two kicks that year and played 12 snaps in total on special teams.

Just like Green, Godwin is a major longshot to make the initial 53-man roster out of training camp, even with Tennessee’s uncertain situation at the position. The best he can hope for is a spot on the practice squad.

Jaguars waive 4 players, sign 3 in addition to WR Willie Johnson IV

In addition to signing Willlie Johnson IV, the Jags announced that they signed three other tryout players in TE Naz Bohannon and receivers Marvin Hall and Ryan McDaniel.

The Jacksonville Jaguars made some post rookie minicamp roster moves by waiving four players in receivers Terry Godwin and Josh Hammond, offensive lineman Marcus Tatum, and safety Sean Mahone. These moves came after the team announced that they signed four rookie minicamp tryout players in tight end Naz Bohannon and receivers Willie Johnson IV, Marvin Hall, and Ryan McDaniel.

Johnson’s signing was reported yesterday by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. However, the signings of Bohannon, Hall, and McDaniel were announced by the team.

Bohannon joined the Jags this weekend for rookie minicamp after spending 2021 on Clemson’s basketball team. The 6-feet-5, 232-pound forward also played basketball for Youngstown State the four years prior to his time at Clemson and accumulated 1,425 points and 1,124 rebounds throughout his college tenure.

Hall, who attended the University of Washington, is a veteran player who has been in the NFL since 2016. He initially entered the NFL as an undrafted player for the Oakland Raiders and has made various stops since that time. Hall has taken the field for 47 games throughout his NFL career and those games came through stints with the Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, and Detroit Lions. He will enter his tenure with the Jags with 38 career catches for 782 yards and five touchdowns.

McDaniel, who went undrafted this offseason, played for North Carolina Central from 2018-21. He finished his career there with 100 catches for 1,208 yards. His career-high came in 2021 when he accumulated 52 receptions for 680 yards. His 2021 season also came with a MEAC Offensive Player of the Week award during Week 4 of his last collegiate season as he hauled in nine catches for 178 yards against North Carolina A&T.

With these new additions, the Jags now have 13 receivers on the roster and seven tight ends.

Terry Godwin looks set for a return after missing 2021 on IR

Terry Godwin looks like he’s set to be ready for the Jags’ offseason program.

When 2020 ended, it was looking like Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Terry Godwin could be a good developmental player for the team. Unfortunately, an undisclosed injury last June derailed those plans. Godwin ended up on the injured reserve with an injury that placed him in a foot cast, and didn’t return for the whole 2021 season.

However, it now appears he’s set to return to the field. Godwin posted a video of himself working out with some friends on an indoor field. He specifically was working on explosion and footwork drills alongside other drills.

The video had the following caption alongside it:

It’s been a min since I’ve been back to ME! Dealing with a injury like this has changed me physically and mentally. But just know God gave the HARDEST battles to his STRONGEST soldiers🙏🏾. Just know it’s about to be a WHOLE LOT of SCARY💩, this time around!! #SCARYTERRY

This comes after the Jags extended Godwin on March 15. And while he will come into the offseason workout program with a limited body of work, he’s a player who could push for a WR5-WR6 spot alongside Laquon Treadwell.

Godwin was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2019 out of Georgia in the seventh round (pick No. 237). He was waived that season during final roster cuts, which resulted in him being picked up by the Jags and joining their practice squad that September.

Godwin didn’t end up seeing the field for the Jags until 2020. He played in three games for the team and was able to suit up against the Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Indianapolis Colts (Week 16). He was only able to accumulate three catches for 32 yards, though he was targeted six times.

The upcoming preseason will be huge for Godwin as he looks to return to the active roster or earn a practice squad spot. To do so, he’ll have to impress a new coaching staff as the last two coaches he played for were fired, and the team now has Doug Pederson leading the way.

Trevor Lawrence dons UGA gear after losing a bet with teammate

Lawrence lost a bet with teammate Terry Godwin, and he had to wear Georgia gear to the Jags’ locker room on Monday.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was on-hand for his alma mater’s 10-3 loss to Georgia in the season-opener in Charlotte on Saturday night. It was bad enough that Lawrence had to watch a game in which Clemson couldn’t find the end zone, but what came after the game was arguably even worse for him.

He apparently lost a bet with Jaguars teammate Terry Godwin, who played for Georgia in college, and had to show up to the Jags facility on Monday morning decked out in Bulldogs gear.

Godwin, who was placed on the injured reserve in June, uploaded a video of the event to his Instagram story.

Clemson probably wished it had Lawrence on the sidelines in that one, as his replacement, D.J. Uiagalelei, struggled against the ferocious Georgia front, completing just 19 of his 37 passes for 178 yards and a pick. He was sacked seven times as the Tigers’ offensive line had no answer for the UGA pass rush.

After watching that disappointing offensive performance, having to wear the opponent’s colors just adds insult to injury for Lawrence.

Watch: Trevor Lawrence loses bet with Terry Godwin, forced to wear Georgia gear

Former Georgia wide receiver and former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence apparently had a friendly wager going for Saturday night’s matchup between the Bulldogs and the Tigers.

After Georgia’s dominant defensive showing, which helped UGA to a 10-3 victory, the Jacksonville Jaguars teammates shared a laugh as Lawrence, the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL draft, showed up to the Jags locker room wearing Georgia gear.

Godwin, who played wide receiver for the Dawgs from 2015-18, recorded the interaction and shared it to social media on Monday.

Godwin had a solid career at UGA, reeling in 134 catches for 1800 yards and 11 touchdowns.

He’ll always be remembered mostly for his epic one-hander against Notre Dame in 2017.

Jags place 3 players on practice squad/ COVID-19 list

The Jags now had to place three more players on COVID-19 reserve Friday, but this time it was players from the practice squad.

The Jacksonville Jaguars placed three players from their practice squad on Reserve/ COVID-19 Friday. Those players were cornerback Josh Nurse and receivers Terry Godwin and Josh Hammond.

The reserve/COVID-19 was created this season for players who have contracted COVID-19 or have been around a person or group of people who have tested positive. Either category requires a period to quarantine until cleared, which is one of many elements of the league’s COVID-19 protocol.

Godwin has been on the Jags’ practice squad since the beginning of the regular season. He’s participated in two games (vs. the Packers and Steelers) this season with the team and was able to garner two kick returns, nine offensive snaps, and 10 special teams snaps.

Hammond also has been on the Jags’ 2020 practice squad since its initial beginning but hasn’t participated in a game yet.

Nurse joined the Jags’ practice squad in September. He’s also participated in two games (vs. the Texans and Browns) where he registered nine and 10 special teams snaps, respectively.

Friday’s trio of players puts the Jags at five COVID-19 related transactions this week. They also put cornerback Tre Herndon and guard Ben Bartch on the Reserve/ COVID-19 list for the active roster earlier in the week.
