Kickoff times announced for Arkansas’ first three games

Mark your calendars! Kickoff times for the first three games of the season have been announced.

Thursday marks 100 days until the beginning of the College Football season. Why not celebrate by releasing the times of three early-season games for Arkansas?

Many television networks, including ESPN, have released the times of each broadcast of games involving Power-Five conferences, with Arkansas being brought into the mix.

The Razorbacks’ first three games will be played at DWR Razorbacks Stadium and will be carried by the ESPN family of networks.

Arkansas’ season opener with Cincinnati on September 3 will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT and will be televised by ESPN. This will mark the first-ever meeting between the Razorbacks and the Bearcats. Against current AAC teams, the Razorbacks are 114-55-8, with most of their meetings being between Tulsa and SMU.

Conference play opens in week two, as Arkansas hosts South Carolina for an 11 a.m. CT kickoff. Arkansas currently leads the overall series, 13-10, but have not defeated the Gamecocks since 2011, when the Razorbacks beat South Carolina 44-28 in Fayetteville. South Carolina has won three games in a row in the series, with the most recent game being played in 2017 in Columbia. The Gamecocks won 48-22.

An old friend visits Fayetteville in week three, as Arkansas hosts Missouri State and former head coach Bobby Petrino. Good news, is that the game has a later kickoff, 6 p.m. CT. But the downside, is that the game will not be available on national TV. Fans can watch Arkansas vs. Missouri State on SEC Network+, which available on the ESPN app on smart devices, including smart TVs.

From dogs and boars to tigers and birds, the live mascot is part of what makes college football great.

Where else can you see a team represented by a living, ferocious tiger? Where else do you see a dog that has his own car? Only in the SEC.

There are eight live mascots in the SEC. All are great in their own way, and I ranked them here in order of my favorites.

South Carolina hires ex-Giant Freddie Kitchens as senior analyst

South Carolina has hired former New York Giants offensive assistant Freddie Kitchens as their senior analyst.

South Carolina announced on Wednesday that former New York Giants assistant Freddie Kitchens is being added to the staff of head coach Shane Beamer. Kitchens will serve as a senior analyst.

“I worked with Freddie Kitchens previously at Mississippi State and have known him for close to 20 years,” Beamer said via the school’s website. “He’s a fantastic coach with head coaching experience and coordinator experience. He’s a long-time NFL coach who will be a great asset and resource for our program and will help us in so many ways.”

For Kitchens, this marks his first return to the college ranks since 2005 when he was with the aforementioned Mississippi State.

Kitchens had spent the previous two seasons with the Giants, first serving as tight ends coach before being promoted to senior offensive analyst. Following the termination of Jason Garrett, Kitchens also stepped in as the interim offensive coordinator.

Prior to his time with the Giants, Kitchens spent two seasons with the Cleveland Browns — the final season serving as their head coach.

In addition to his time with the Giants and Browns, Kitchens also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys at the NFL level. In college, he’s also made stops at Glenville State, LSU and North Texas.

Eagles sign WR Keric Wheatfall

Philadelphia Eagles sign former Fresno State wide receiver Keric Wheatfall after his tryout during the teams rookie minicamp

The Philadelphia Eagles opened up their rookie minicamp with five NFL draft picks and 12 undrafted free agents.

Team GM Howie Roseman is always looking for a hidden gem or two and with Philadelphia surrendering six picks during the draft weekend via trade, the organization invited 19 players to the camp as well for a tryout.

After that evaluation period, the Eagles have agreed to a deal with wide receiver Keric Wheatfall, a rookie out of Fresno State who participated in the Rookie Minicamp on a tryout basis.

Wheatfall started his college career at Blinn College before transferring to Fresno State. At Blinn, Wheatfall had 798 yards and six touchdowns on 47 receptions in 2018, including four 100-yard receiving games.

In 2021 with the Bulldogs, Wheatfall played in all 13 games, starting in eight games, as he finished as the team’s third-leading receiver with 38 receptions for 616 yards and four touchdowns.

Taking an early look at the top 15 CB prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft class

After the Eagles passed on adding defensive backs to the roster last weekend, we’re taking an early look at the top 15 CB prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft class

The 2022 NFL draft came and went with the Eagles passing on a cornerback and safety in all seven rounds, choosing to address the position via undrafted free agency.

Cornerback was deemed an urgent position of need with no established starter at the position opposite Pro Bowl corner Darius Slay.

It’s the third time in four years that Philadelphia has bypassed selecting a cornerback in the draft. It’s the fifth time in six years they haven’t selected a safety.

The Eagles really like the young cornerback already on the roster and add former Clemson All American cornerback Mario Goodrich via undrafted free agency as well.

If 2022 doesn’t produce a starter opposite Slay, the 2023 NFL draft offers an opportunity to find a successor and starter at both spots.

Here are the top 15 cover guys to watch heading into the next college football season.
