Packers WR Allen Lazard suffers shoulder injury, Week 8 status in doubt

Packers receiver Allen Lazard left Sunday’s loss in Washington with a shoulder injury, and it’s unclear if he’ll play against the Bills this week.

Green Bay Packers receiver Allen Lazard injured his shoulder during Sunday’s loss to the Washington Commanders, and his availability for this week’s trip to play the Buffalo Bills is in doubt.

“He hurt his shoulder, and I’m gonna leave it at that. We’ll see how it feels throughout the course of the week,” coach Matt LaFleur said.

Reporters saw Lazard wearing a sling on his left arm in the locker room on Monday.

Lazard, the team’s leader in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, left Sunday’s game during the second half after taking a hit at the end of a first-down catch and didn’t return.

The Packers won’t officially practice until Wednesday when the first injury report of the week comes out.

The offense is getting thin at receiver. Lazard has a new injury, Randall Cobb is on injured reserve with an ankle injury and Christian Watson has missed two straight games with a hamstring injury.

Through six games, Lazard has 26 catches, 340 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He trails only rookie Romeo Doubs in total targets (41). He’s catching 63.4 percent of targets and averaging 8.3 yards per target.

Chiefs TE Matt Bushman questionable to return vs. Packers with shoulder injury

The #Chiefs have ruled preseason Week 3 standout TE Matt Bushman questionable to return with a shoulder injury.

The Kansas City Chiefs have seemingly lost their leading receiver in preseason Week 3 to an injury.

The team announced that tight end Matt Bushman is questionable to return to the game with a shoulder injury. Right in the midst of a breakout preseason game, Bushman has caught 3-of-3 passes for 73 yards and two touchdowns through three-quarters of play.

The final pass he caught was a 17-yard reception and that seems to be the play that he was injured on. He popped up from the play and was shaking out his shoulder, which was clearly bothering him after he was taken to the turf.

Bushman was escorted to the locker room by the training staff and it’s hard to imagine him returning to the game. His breakout performance was intriguing given the recent injury to Blake Bell. It also could have raised his value in a trade situation, but the injury now clouds that opportunity. Hopefully, the injury is a minor one. If it isn’t, the team can opt to stash Bushman on injured reserve.

Is Seahawks safety Jamal Adams’ durability a real concern?

Seahawks safety Jamal Adams’ durability could be a real concern for Seattle as he heads into his third injury-riddled season in Seattle.

The Seattle Seahawks opened training camp this week with a number of returning veterans who are finally healthy, but strong safety Jamal Adams is not one of them.

Adams suffered a season-ending shoulder injury last year which required surgery to repair. It was his second labrum procedure in as many years. He also underwent a hand procedure to correct some broken fingers.

After the first day of camp, Coach Pete Carroll had nothing but positive news on the Adams’ front.

He’s really pumped about it, he feels great, he had a really profitable offseason, and he’s really raring to go,” Carroll told reporters Wednesday. “His mind is in a great spot. To come back with Quandre (Diggs) back there, those two guys really solidify what we are all about back there and take the leadership for our club.”

Unfortunately, it appears Adams will be sidelined once again, with no clear-cut timeline for return. Expectations have been high for the safety since he was acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Jets in 2020. Many have been quick to question Adams’ durability so a healthy season would go a long way towards easing those concerns.

Jamal is going to take some time to try to figure out, he had a couple of surgeries that he was working on, and yesterday, his hand just wasn’t right,” Carroll explained. “He’s getting some opinions about it, so we will see what that means. I don’t know right now, but I don’t have anything to advance today other than us exchanging in conversation last night. He’s looking into some stuff and he’s trying to get things figured out.”

The Seahawks practically broke the bank to bring Adams to Seattle and he’s only appeared in 12 games in each of his two years in the Emerald City. Now, with another potential operation looming on the horizon, another shortened season may be difficult to avoid.

Report: Brock Bowers will miss spring practice after surgery

Bowers to miss spring after shoulder surgery.

Georgia freshman tight end Brock Bowers had one of the greatest seasons in the history of UGA football in 2021. What makes it even more impressive is that he did so while playing with an injured shoulder, for the last few weeks of the season at least.

UGASports.com reported on Monday that Bowers will miss spring practice after having shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum.

We’re not sure when exactly the shoulder injury took place, but head coach Kirby Smart made the following comment on it following Georgia’s playoff win over Michigan on New Year’s Eve:

“He’s had a shoulder for a couple of weeks,” Smart said after the Orange Bowl win over Michigan. “We’ve had him practicing in a black jersey limiting his contact some. He’s a tough dude, man, he’s a warrior. He wanted to get back in there tonight, and we just didn’t let him.”

Bowers had to leave the Orange Bowl late after aggravating the shoulder. He still recorded 5 catches for 55 yards and a touchdown. 10 days later, Bowers balled out again on that injured shoulder, this time in the national championship. He had 4 catches for 36 yards and a crucial second half touchdown.

He’s expected to make a full recovery and be back in action for fall camp.

Bowers was easily Georgia’s biggest offensive weapon this past season. He reeled in 56 catches for 882 yards, 13 receiving touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown en route to being named a member of the Associated Press and Coaches’ All-SEC First Team. His 13 receiving touchdowns are a single season record at UGA. He was also named the SEC Freshman of the Year.

With Bowers sidelined for the near future, Darnell Washington should see increased involvement this spring.

Baker Mayfield to play despite shoulder tear unless he’s hurting the team

Mayfield says he’s playing unless he is hurting the team then he’ll make the decision not to play:

The Cleveland Browns have been injury central in the NFL for most of the season with quarterback Baker Mayfield getting a lot of the attention since his Week 2 injury. Originally reported as a partial tear of his labrum, Mayfield informed the media today that it was a complete tear of his left labrum.

After leaving his Week 6 press conference with his arm in a sling, Mayfield was unsure if he was able to practice on Tuesday or not. With a quick turnaround for their matchup with the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football, Mayfield plans to start the game.

Interestingly, Mayfield noted that if he couldn’t go, he would make the decision. The former number one overall pick does not want to hurt the team with his performance. If he believes he is, Mayfield does not want to be on the field:

The assumption in his statement is that he does not believe he is hurting the team. With the Browns keeping him on the field since the injury, and allowing him to go back in after getting hurt again in Week 6, they seem to believe that Mayfield, even injured, is the best option at quarterback for the team.

Prior to Mayfield’s press conference, Jeff Howe from The Athletic reported that the quarterback’s shoulder wasn’t worse after getting hit on Sunday:

We will keep you up to date on Mayfield’s status going into this important Week 7 matchup on Thursday Night Football.

After injury scare, Darrell Taylor may have a chance to play Week 7

Following an injury scare on the field in Pittsburgh, Seahawks DE Darrell Taylor may have a chance to play Week 7 against the Saints.

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Darrell Taylor was down on the field for nearly 15 minutes before he was carted off the field Sunday night in Pittsburgh. The scare was that Taylor had sustained a significant neck injury during the Week 6 contest.

Less than 24 hours later, coach Pete Carroll had nothing but good news to share Monday afternoon.

“His MRI stuff was clear, his CAT scan stuff was clear, and he does not have a neck injury,” Carroll told reporters. “He got jammed pretty good so we have to see what it’s like, but it may be more in his shoulder as we figure it out. He’s not out of the woods of playing this week so that’s a thrilling response to what it looked like and what everybody could have anticipated. We will see how it goes and he has to have a good week to do that.”

Taylor, and the rest of the Seahawks squad, have an extra day to recuperate this week as their next game isn’t scheduled until Monday night when they’ll host the Saints at Lumen Field.

“We will see what happens, but it was a really good report,” Carroll continued. “I know a lot of people were upset about that, for good reason, whenever they take a guy off like that, the threat is huge. Anyway, he came out great, so we will hope for the best and he may have a chance to go this week.”

WATCH: Cowboys QB Dak Prescott throwing in pregame warmups

All eyes were on Dak Prescott as he took to the State Farm Stadium field and hurled several passes to Amari Cooper and Ezekiel Elliott. | From @ToddBrock24f7

The most eagerly-anticipated action of Friday night’s Cowboys-versus-Cardinals preseason tilt happened well before kickoff as Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott went through a series of throws as he continues to recover from a muscle strain in his right shoulder.

Prescott was never considered a likely participant in the team’s second exhibition contest, but his on-the-field work during pregame warmups signal that he is closer to making his return, and will no doubt fuel speculation that he may meet his goal of playing in the team’s next game, an August 21st matchup with the Houston Texans at AT&T Stadium.

Prescott was seen on about the 35-yard-line at State Farm Stadium. making a variety of throws to both running back Ezekiel Elliott and wideout Amari Cooper, himself just coming off the Physically Unable to Perform list.

The Cowboys will travel to Dallas after the Cardinals game, following a three-week stay in Oxnard. Back in the Metroplex, Prescott is scheduled to get a follow-up MRI on his shoulder, a precautionary measure only, according to the team.

The Cowboys have said they fully expect Prescott to be ready to start in Week 1 against the reigning Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Texas WR Joshua Moore not practicing due to shoulder injury

Joshua Moore did not participate in Wednesday’s practice due to a shoulder injury. According to Texas, the wide receiver is listed as day-to-day.

The injury bug has been nice to Texas early on in fall camp. No significant injuries have occurred, keeping Steve Sarkisian’s squad fresh before the season opener against Louisiana.

However, one of the Longhorns’ projected top offensive players will be missing some practice time.

Joshua Moore did not participate in Wednesday’s practice due to a shoulder injury. According to Texas, the wide receiver is listed as day-to-day, hoping to get back on the field as soon as possible.

Dealing with injuries is nothing new for Moore. He suffered a knee injury against TCU last season and then a shoulder injury against Oklahoma State. Despite the setbacks, Moore was able to have a solid season on paper.

Being the leading receiver last season, Moore hauled in 30 receptions for 472 yards and nine touchdowns. If the 2021 season were to start today, he is expected to be one of the starters.

Being able to gain weight has been a big part of Moore’s offseason, now weighing in at 176 pounds.

“I’ve always been the smallest player on the field my whole life,” said Moore. “It’s just about your heart in my opinion.”

After playing last season 12 pounds lighter, Moore is ready to play in Sarkisian’s offense. He knows how well the head coach can scheme wide receivers into good positions.

“What makes [Sarkisian’s offense] so unique, every receiver that runs a route, no matter what defense they play, somebody will be open.”

Once the shoulder is healthy, Moore should be back on the practice field with the first team. Working with both Casey Thompson and Hudson Card every day, he should be a major factor in helping Texas decide the starting spot. However, he credits the quarterbacks for early camp success.

“Both of them sling the rock,” Moore said. “They make us look good. It’s not that we make them look good. If you come to practice, you’ll see for yourself. They’re putting it right where it needs to be, and it’s a strong battle right now.”

With Texas’ scrimmage scheduled for Saturday, Moore’s status will be one of the things to keep an eye out for.

Seahawks safety Jamal Adams to undergo offseason surgery

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams will undergo offseason surgery in the near future to address his torn labrum and broken fingers.

The 2020 NFL season came to a screeching halt for Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams and his teammates Saturday afternoon, losing to the Los Angeles Rams 30-20 in the wild-card round.

For Adams, the chance to appear in a playoff game meant so much for the first-timer, yet was over so quickly. He’s now looking ahead to what needs to happen over the offseason, most importantly, tending to his injured shoulders and broken fingers. Adams will likely underdo a surgery or two in the near future to address the issues.

“I’ve got to take care of these fingers for sure, and the shoulder,” Adams said after the loss. “It’s part of the game. I’m not sitting here making excuses for anything, it’s part of the game, and like I said early in the week, there was no doubt in my mind that I wasn’t going to go out there and attempt to play.

“I did what I could, I wish I could have done more to help the team win, but obviously things didn’t roll our way.”

Adams certainly isn’t making excuses, but he was a bit hindered by his shoulder in Saturday’s matchup, wearing a brace of sorts to stabilize the injury, which turned out to be a torn labrum.

“Yes, I did have a harness on that restricted me from going up or going across, but that’s not an excuse,” Adams explained. “I’ve got to make the play. I mean, it was a hell of a grab, stuff like that happens, but you know obviously the ball just didn’t roll our way on that one.”

Seahawks Jamal Adams confident he’ll play in wild-card game vs. Rams

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams told reporters that he is confident he will play in the team’s wild-card game against the L.A. Rams.

Jamal Adams is confident that he will play in the Seattle Seahawks’ wild-card game against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday despite concerns about the left shoulder injury he suffered in Week 17 against the San Francisco 49ers.

“No question in my mind, I’m playing, man,” Adams told reporters on Wednesday before practice. “Look, as long as these legs are moving man, as long as my faith is with the man upstairs, which is very strong, I’m going to be out there. So there was never no doubt in my mind that I wasn’t playing, so let’s get that out there. I’m full-go.”

Although he was ultimately limited in Wednesday’s practice, Adams insisted that his shoulder will be healthy enough by game day.

“I’m not going to be limited to anything,” Adams said. “I’m full-go. I’m full energy. I’m me. I’m going out there to continue to make plays and continue to help the team win. That’s what I’m about.”

The fourth-year safety is coming off a solid regular season that earned him a Pro Bowl nod despite missing four games. He set a new record for sacks by a defensive back with 9.5 and racked up 83 tackles (59 solo), three passes defended, and a forced fumble.

Adams has also been playing through an injury to his right shoulder since Week 10 and stated he has two broken fingers at the moment, so concern about his health for the postseason is certainly understandable. However, he seems determined to play through his injuries and help the Seahawks win no matter the cost.

“I’m a savage, bro,” Adams said. “I’m a warrior, man. It doesn’t matter. Whatever it takes. It’s not about me. It’s always going to be bigger than me. It’s about this team. It’s about my brothers. It’s about my family back home, my why. So again, I’m excited for this opportunity. It doesn’t matter what obstacle is thrown my way. I always figure it out and that’s all that matters, man. So I’m looking forward to the matchup.”

The game will take place on Saturday, Jan. 9 at Lumen Field at 1:40 p.m. PT.
