2024 four-star includes Penn State basketball in Top 4

Despite a coaching change, Penn State remains in the top four for this four-star basketball player in 2024.

It’s been a trying week for the Penn State basketball program. The head coach leaving, players hitting the transfer portal and player decommitments have put a damper on the positive momentum that was surrounding the team.

Friday, the program got some news they desperately needed. Four-star forward [autotag]Royce Parham[/autotag] cut his list of top schools down to four. Penn State was included in the list of the Top 100 player out of Pennsylvania.

On3 has the 6’9″ 200 pound prospect ranked as the 81st player in the country for the class of 2024. After receiving 14 scholarship offers, Parham decided to cut his list of schools to focus on before his senior year.

The news may come as a surprise to Penn State fans and others across the country as there is no head coach as of now. The coaches and staff involved in his recruiting process could potentially all be in new locations by the time Parham make’s his decision.

However, it’s still a positive sign to be in the mix for a Top 100 talent.

The three other schools on his list are Pittsburgh, Xavier and Marquette.

Despite the unknown at head coach, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine still has Penn State favored to land Parham. The Nittany Lions are listed with a 33.6% chance to get the four-star, while Notre Dame is second with 17.8% and Marquette third with 15.3%.

The machine hasn’t been updated since Parham cut his list to four schools, so it’s to be seen if Penn State are still the favorites when factoring in the coaching changes.

However, the decision could come down to more than just who is leading the program. Parham spoke about Penn State with Joe Tipton of On3 saying, “Having PSU be a local school and my mom being an alma mater, it’s been a really important school for me my whole life. I’ve built a great bond with the players coaches and seen the whole campus too.”

With the current state of the program being unknown, landing a talent like Parham would go a long way for Penn State basketball.

2024 four-star F Royce Parham wraps up official visit to Wisconsin

Wisconsin basketball hosted a talented 2024 forward on an official visit over the weekend:

This past weekend, the Wisconsin men’s basketball program hosted 2024 four-star forward Royce Parham out of Pittsburgh, Pennslyvania, on an official visit to Madison.

According to the On3 recruiting rankings, Parham is the No. 53 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, the No. 11 PF in the country, and the No. 3 player in Pennsylvania.

The 6-foot-8, 200-pound F currently holds offers from Duquesne, George Mason, Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Robert Morris, Rutgers, TCU, and Virginia Tech.

Parham, a standout at North Hills High School, averaged 20.8 points and nine rebounds a game as a sophomore while shooting an impressive 64.2% from the field.

You can watch his AAU highlights here.

I, for one, am a massive fan of Greg Gard getting aggressive in his pursuit of Parham – getting him on campus for an early official visit.

When it’s all said and done, Parham is the type of player I expect will draw significant national interest – so entrenching themselves in his recruitment early on is going to be a must.

The upside with a player like Parham is undeniable. He is a versatile big man that plays with great energy and has all the tools to be a dominant defensive player.

He’s active on the glass, uses his length as a shot blocker, has excellent hands, is a fluid athlete, and has a budding face-up game. Essentially, he’d be a perfect fit in any program across the country.

It’s far too early to project what could happen in Parham’s recruitment, but receiving an early official visit suggests mutual interest between the two.

Rutgers basketball recruiting: Royce Parham adds multiple offers since mid-June

Royce Parham gets multiple offers since being offered by Rutgers in mid-June.

Pittsburgh power forward Royce Parham pulled in an offer from Rutgers basketball in mid-June. Since then, he has two more offers including one on Tuesday.

A 6-foot-8 power forward at North Hills (Pittsburgh, PA), Parham is fast becoming one of the most highly-recruited class of 2024 prospects in the region.

North Hills went 26-2 last season.

Parham was offered by Rutgers on June 15. One day after, he got an offer from VCU and then on Tuesday, he pulled in a Xavier offer.

He also holds offers from Duquense, George Mason, Penn State, Pittsburgh and TCU in addition to his three offers over the past three weeks.

He plays for the prestigious Team Durant, one of the top AAU programs in the nation. The club was founded by NBA superstar Kevin Durant.

Parham is a good defender. He drives to the basketball well, is solid on the dribble and has some nice range to his game. Comfortable in the post, he can also step back and shoot.

Rutgers currently has one recruit in the class of 2024. In early June, they landed a commitment from Connecticut forward Gavin Griffiths, a consensus top 50 player in the nation.

A four-star, Griffiths is the highest-ranked recruit to ever commit to Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell.
