Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire is currently abroad representing the team in Frankfurt, Germany with another stop in London, England on the way.
As the NFL makes efforts to capitalize on the demand for its product internationally, the NFLPA is also making an effort to expand the footprint of its players on a global scale. The player’s association recently announced their NFPLA Player Passport Tour — which is described as an initiative to “establish a strong connection between NFL players, brands, retailers, and fans in Germany and the United Kingdom.”
From June 19 through June 25, 2023, Edwards-Helaire along with eight other active NFL players are set to take part in a curated business and cultural tour across Europe.
Some highlights of the tour are as follows per the NFLPA:
NFLPA Player Passport Showcase in Frankfurt:Â A dynamic NFL player business presentation featuring moderated athlete panel discussions, photo opportunities, and meet-and-greet sessions with business partners, media, and key stakeholders in the territory.
Community Activities: In Frankfurt, players visit Stadion am Brentanobad for a youth flag football clinic. Meanwhile, in London, there will be a youth flag football event at HR Sports Academy, in partnership with global sports-based charity, Laureus.
Tours and Local Market Athlete Engagement:Â NFL players will engage in cultural visits and connect with local athletes. In both destinations, they will immerse themselves in the history of European football and interact with Premier League athletes. Beyond sports, the players will explore the local cultures, visit landmarks, try local cuisine, and experience the arts scenes.
With the NFL’s popularity on the rise in Europe, this is a unique opportunity for Edwards-Helaire and other NFL athletes to connect with new fans and brands across the globe. The Chiefs are set to play in Frankfurt against the Miami Dolphins in Week 9, so this also serves as a bit of a scouting opportunity for Edwards-Helaire and the team.
