WATCH: Former Alabama second baseman hits home run in first minor league game at Field of Dreams

Former Alabama baseball player Peyton Wilson hit a home run in the minor league’s first game played at Field of Dreams stadium in Dyersville, Iowa.

On Tuesday, former Alabama baseball player Peyton Wilson hit a solo home run into the corn maze at the Field of Dreams stadium in Dyersville, Iowa. It was the first time that two minor league baseball teams met at the former movie site. The first two teams to have the opportunity to play there were the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees. The Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs are slated to face off on August 11 at Field of Dreams stadium.

Alabama fans will be glad to know that the Alabama alumni hit his seventh home run of the season for the Quad Cities River Bandits of the MiLB. This particular home run may have been more special to the Alabama native as he sent the ball flying into the corn maze in left field.

Peyton is the younger brother of former Alabama quarterback John Parker Wilson. He spent two seasons with the Crimson Tide. Wilson hit a combined .312 batting average with nine home runs and 39 runs batted in. His fielding percentage was also a stellar 96.9%. After his sophomore season, Wilson was drafted in the second round of the 2021 MLB draft by the Kansas City Royals.

He made history on Tuesday as he became the first former Alabama baseball player to have hit a home run in the Field of Dreams stadium. He also led his team to a 7-2 victory over the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
