Five-star edge Omari Abor announces top six schools

During an Instagram Q&A, Omari Abor was asked what his top schools were at the moment.

One of the top uncommitted prospects in the country is five-star edge rusher Omari Abor. The Duncanville product has the best schools in the country going after him.

During an Instagram Q&A, Abor was asked what his top three schools were at the moment. He doubled down, releasing his top six. Texas made the cut, alongside Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and USC.

Abor was in Austin recently, visiting during the BBQ/pool party event at the end of July. Steve Sarkisian will have to battle it out with Texas A&M and USC for his final official visit spot. He used four during the month of June.

Oklahoma being left out is quite a surprise, considering Abor took an official visit to Norman during June. The Sooners were the leaders for quite a while but are now in the backseat.

On the 247Sports composite, Abor is the No. 24 overall player and the No. 2 edge in the country. He ranks as the No. 6 prospect in the Lone Star State. If Texas can begin to chip away at Abor, he would be one of the biggest defensive end prospects in recent history.

Report: Five-star DL Omari Abor to visit Texas on July 30

One of the top prospects in the state of Texas is Omari Abor. According to Mike Roach of Horns247, he will visit UT’s campus on July 30.

One of the top prospects in the state of Texas is Omari Abor. The five-star edge comes out of Duncanville High School and is being recruited by some of the top schools in the country.

Ohio State and Oklahoma seem to be the favorites for Abor. Both got official visits during the month of June, along with Alabama and LSU. Texas has been playing from behind for quite a while but will have an opportunity to get back in the race.

According to Mike Roach of Horns247, Abor will be in Austin on July 30. Texas is hosting a BBQ/swimming event, which will include some of the best in-state prospects. Abor just adds to the impressive list.

On the 247Sports composite, Abor ranks as the No. 23 player in the country and the No. 5 defensive linemen. Within the state of Texas, he comes in as the No. 6 prospect.

Being able to get the five-star on campus is a sign of progress. Even if Texas is dead in the water, Sarkisian getting personal face-to-face time can be nothing but a positive.

Playing from behind for such an elite in-state prospect is nothing new for Longhorn fans. Hopefully, Abor can be different than the past, with Texas falling on their face flat.

J.T. Tuimoloau just committed to Ohio State days ago and already helping recruit

Sometimes the best recruiters are some of the unbelievable talent already committed. Tuimoloau is already going to work!

J.T. Tuimoloau committed to the Ohio State football team days ago, and he’s already making waves. One of the reasons he chose the Buckeyes was the family feel, and now he’s trying to bring others into the fold, starting with a five-star defensive lineman from Texas.

Tuimoloau has been reaching out to Omari Abor, who is the No. 5 defensive lineman in the country, according to 247Sports composite. All crystal ball predictions for Abor are for him to land with Oklahoma, but no predictions have a high level of confidence.

The newest member of OSU’s 2021 recruiting class is wasting no time trying to lure in other big-time recruits. As you can see in the tweet below, Tuimoloau is rolling out the red carpet in hopes of helping solidify an all-time defensive unit in Columbus.

We love to see current recruits and players letting those who are considering Ohio State know why they love it so much. Everyone wants to be part of a family and that’s something that players and coaches have worked hard to build at OSU.

And we kind of think it’s a pretty good selling point too.

Top Oklahoma targets that should be on the radar as the next Sooner commits

A look at the nine prospects who could be next to commit to play for the Oklahoma Sooners in the 2022 recruiting cycle.

The Oklahoma Sooners are sitting with 12 commitments in their 2022 recruiting class. They picked up four over the Fourth of July weekend led by Derrick Moore of Baltimore, Maryland.

This put the Sooners back into the top 10 of the 247Sports composite team rankings after they had tumbled to No. 22 overall. While they are sitting in a good position with the current class, they are far from done.

The weekend was a great way to get the recruiting trail buzzing again, but if you know Lincoln Riley and the staff, they still have plenty of work to do. Among the top targets, the Sooners have five prospects holding offers among the top 50 prospects in the country. Each of those five top prospects has listed Oklahoma among his top groups.

Each prospect ranking is courtesy of 247Sports. Sooners Wire takes a look at nine recruits who could be the next to commit to play in the Crimson and Cream.

Five-Star defensive end puts Ohio State in top ten and schedules visit for June

Five-star defensive end Omari Abor has listed Ohio State in his top ten and is scheduled to visit Columbus on June 4.

Ohio State has been churning out defensive ends like candy bars at a chocolate factory for quite some time now. If you’re one of the top-rated edge rushers in high school, why wouldn’t you consider becoming a Buckeye?

Well, the No. 2 rated defensive end and No. 23 overall rated player in the country, according to 247 Sports composite rankings, did just that recently putting Ohio State in his top ten. Omari Abor is a five-star out of Duncanville, Texas, and has all the big boys drooling.

Joining the Buckeyes on Abor’s trimmed list are Alabama, Arizona State, Georgia, LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, and Southern Cal. Recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks says Abor is a first-round talent and compares to NFL defensive end Bradley Chubb of the Denver Broncos.

At this point, Abor is crystal balled to Oklahoma, but that could all change now that the dead period has been lifted beginning June 1. The young edge rusher is scheduled to visit Columbus on June 4.

Texas Football: Longhorns targeting highly-touted DE in 2022 class

Texas recently offered an edge rusher out of Duncanville, Texas.

The Longhorns are jumping on the train early.

Head coach Tom Herman and Co. have sent an offer to a 2022 defensive end prospect out of Duncanville, Texas.

Omari Abor does not have a national prospect ranking yet, but he’s already received a dozen offers from highly respected programs. The 6-4, 240 pound edge rusher was named the District 8-6A Defensive Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore in 2019.

This is an important position of need in new defensive coordinator Chris Ash’s scheme. Herman has recruited a five-star defensive lineman in both the 2020 and 2021 class with Alfred Collins and Ja’Tavion Sanders.

By time the 2022 class is all said and done, Abor has the potential to keep the five-star trend coming to Austin if he chooses to commit to Texas.
