How to watch, stream, listen to Ohio State vs. Purdue

Everything you need to know to listen and watch Ohio State football as Purdue comes to Columbus.

We’re getting down to the wire as we’ve reached the stretch run in November. Every week matters when it comes to college football and that’s why we love the sport so much.

This week, Ohio State gets the Purdue Boilermakers who are looking to spoil yet another team’s playoff hopes. Purdue has already knocked off No. 2 Iowa and No. 3 Michigan State this season and looking for more. Of course, the Boilers have more incentive than just playing giant killer. They still have an outside shot of representing the Big Ten West in the Big Ten Championship game.

A stretch of three straight ranked opponents begins Saturday when Purdue comes to town and the Buckeyes know there is zero margin for error.

Five reasons Ohio State beats Purdue Saturday

Five reasons the Ohio State #Buckeyes beat the Purdue Boilermakers Saturday

The Ohio State Buckeyes had another week where they looked a little underwhelming and disappointing on offense, but still earned the win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 26-17. Going into the weekend, Ohio State was largely viewed as a two-touchdown favorite over Nebraska, but barely edging out the Cornhuskers by nine points apparently didn’t scare off the College Football Playoff committee as the Buckeyes are now ranked in the top four.

This week Ohio State will be welcoming in the giant killers that are the Purdue Boilermakers and kick-off will take place at 3:30 p.m. EST in venerable Horseshoe. The Buckeyes will look to avoid the same fate as the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Michigan State Spartans, but it will take a better effort than last week. Here are five reasons why Ohio State will come away with the win on Saturday.

Ohio State vs Purdue Game Preview

Why Purdue Will Win

With a win over then No. 2 Iowa, and after taking down CFP No. 3 Michigan State, who’s playing with more swag right now?

There might have been problems against the Wisconsin defense, but Purdue has won three of its last four games, it’s bowl eligible, and even though there’s still a path to taking the Big Ten West title, it’s playing with house money.

Ohio State is giving up plenty of passing yards, the Boilermaker defensive pressure is good enough to make CJ Stroud hurry a bit, and no quarterback in the Big Ten is playing better over the last few games than Aidan O’Connell.

He threw three picks against the amazing Wisconsin defense, but he hit 75% of his passes over the last four games with eight touchdowns.

He came up with 375 yards against the strong Iowa D, ripped up Michigan State with 536 yards, and now he and WR David Bell get a Buckeye defense that’s allowing close to 250 yards per game through the air.

College Football Expert Picks, CFN Week 11

Why Ohio State Will Win

Purdue hasn’t played anyone with a passing game like Ohio State is going to bring.

It might take a little time to warm up, and it might not be as consistent as it should be, but Stroud has been fantastic, he’s connecting on a whole lot of big plays, and the O is second in the nation averaging 45 points per game.

Purdue’s secondary is statistically okay, but who’s the great passing quarterback on the schedule so far? Graham Mertz of Wisconsin? Iowa’s Spencer Petras? Notre Dame’s Jack Coan? They’re all good, but none of them are making big things happen like Stroud is.

Yes, the Ohio State defense will give up plenty of yards in this, but there won’t be any Purdue running game and the offensive front will allow just enough plays in the backfield to stall on a few key drives.

What’s Going To Happen

Don’t get too caught up with what happened last week.

The Michigan State defense gave up a ton of yards to Michigan and hadn’t played anyone all that great before getting Purdue – that wasn’t a total shocker.

Nebraska might be 3-7, but it’s been playing relatively well and keeping games tight – Ohio State’s hard 26-17 win over the Huskers wasn’t anything to get into a twist over.

Purdue will get its yards, but the Ohio State offensive machine will ramp up with good balance and more big plays down the field.

Ohio State vs. Purdue football preview and prediction

The stakes keep getting higher and we’ve got all you need to know for Ohio State’s game against Purdue Saturday. #GoBucks

So, Ohio State didn’t run roughshod over Nebraska. If you remember, we told you in last week’s edition of the weekly preview and prediction that the Huskers would keep it close until the fourth quarter. Albeit, we did think the Bucks would pull away a wee bit more than the final score indicated. Either way, Nebraska is better than its record shows and it’s not a bad thing to have to grind out a victory on the road. It builds character and makes a team stronger. No need to press the panic button just yet.

Or is it? This week Ohio State faces Purdue who some have dubbed the “Spoilermakers” as the team that’s already knocked off No. 2 Iowa and No. 3 Michigan State. Jeff Brohm has his team playing the role of giant killer and the Buckeyes are next on the list.

Many Ohio State fans remember Purdue upending the Bucks a few years ago in West Lafayette. It left a bad taste. However, this game is in Columbus and the Buckeyes know the Boilers won’t be a pushover.

Game time for Ohio State vs. Purdue announced

Game time for Purdue announced! What is your favorite time slot? #GoBucks

Less than a week from kickoff, we finally know when Ohio State football’s game against Purdue will be. According to a spokesman for the football program, the kick will be a 3:30 p.m. EDT and be televised by ABC.

It should be an interesting matchup. The Boilermakers have been terribly inconsistent but have two wins against teams in the top five at the time of the game — first taking down No. 2 Iowa, then No. 3 Michigan State this past Saturday. However, Purdue also has losses to Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Minnesota on the year.

The Boilers have often been a thorn in the side for the Buckeyes in previous years as well. Purdue more or less kept Ohio State out of the College Football Playoff the last time these two met with a 40-29 beatdown in West Lafayette in 2018. You might even be surprised to learn that OSU holds just a slight 6-4 advantage in the last ten meeting between the two.

Here’s to hoping Ohio State can clean some things up and come out with the offense we’ve known and loved prior to the last couple of games. These last three games are going to be a lot of fun, or a lot of misery if you’re a Buckeye fan. It doesn’t get any easier after Purdue, with OSU rounding out the regular season with Michigan State and Michigan.

VIDEO: Chris Holtmann, players discuss win over Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament

Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann and players E.J. Liddell and Duane Washington discuss the win over Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament.

Well, that was fun.

Ohio State raced out to an 18 point lead, then Purdue countered and came all the way back to force overtime in the second half. The Buckeyes then rebounded and found a way to wrestle momentum back and win the Big Ten quarterfinal matchup 87-78.

After a rough ending to the regular season, and after getting beat by Purdue twice during prior this year, the victory had to be a sweet one.

After the game, OSU head coach Chris Holtmann and players E.J Liddell and Duane Washington met with the media to discuss what they saw and felt in the game, and to reflect on the journey the team has been on.

Click the below and head on over to our YouTube channel to get all the comments form the head coach and players. They discuss how tough Purdue is, how the team stuck together, rallied around a pretty big milestone for Hotlmann, and more.

Ohio State beats Purdue to advance to the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. Five takeaways.

Ohio State weathered the storm and found a way to beat Purdue in overtime of a Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal. Here are five takeaways.

Well, that was some sort of amusement I suppose. Being an Ohio State college basketball fan can be fun at times, and anxiety-inducing at others. We got a little of both on Friday with the Buckeyes racing out to a big halftime lead, then letting Purdue back in the game and eventually having to get things done in overtime. OSU then found something in the extra stanza and survived and advanced as they say, by a score of 87-78.

In a game with such ebbs and flows, there’s plenty to take away from this one. We saw some familiar patterns and some new things we haven’t witnessed all year. It had to be a lot of fun for anyone without a horse in the race watching it, and a panic attack waiting to happen for fans of the Buckeyes and Boilermakers.

As we do after every game, we’re giving you some takeaways. Here are five that stood out among all the bruhaha.

NEXT … The narrative

Ohio State very slight favorite over Purdue according to BetMGM

According to BetMGM, Ohio State is 1.5 favorite over Purdue as the two get set to matchup in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.

Despite being disposed of twice this season by the Purdue Boilermakers, Ohio State is a 1.5 point favorite in today’s quarterfinal matchup of the Big Ten Tournament according to BetMGM.

Odds courtesy of BetMGM Sportsbook.

To be fair, both games from this season were close, with the Boilermakers winning the first meeting in West Lafayette by a score of 67-60, and then winning the return to Columbus by a count of 67-65. In other words, if the Buckeyes can score more than 67 points, they’ll win.

OK. So clearly it’s not that simple, but there is reason to believe Ohio State can pull this one off. OSU’s loss early in the year to the Boilermakers was before it found its identity, and the second one was in the bag, then handed away because of poor play down the stretch.

There’s a good chance this thing will come down to the wire again because — well, that’s how things have gone in the Big Ten, and whichever team can win the war of attrition will earn itself a spot in the tournament semifinals.

Here’s to a good game, but one that has a winning scarlet and gray flavor to it.

Ohio State basketball vs. Purdue: How to watch and listen to the game Friday

Ohio State takes on Purdue in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament Friday. Here’s how to find the game on television or radio.

The madness almost got to Ohio State who had to claw and scratch to hang on and win a game that almost got away. Leading by 12 points with under two minutes left to play, the Buckeyes allowed the Minnesota defensive pressure to get to them. The Gophers had a chance to tie with eight seconds left, but OSU held on for the four-point win.

Survive and advance is what March is all about. Now Ohio State is set to face a Purdue team who has already beat the Buckeyes twice this season. Will a third time be a charm for Chris Holtman’s squad?

We have all the information you need to make sure you catch the game on TV, radio, or live streaming.

Ohio State (19-8) vs Purdue (18-8) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on college basketball, go to BetMGM

Why Purdue Will Win

The Boilermakers are on a nice five-game winning streak with the defense showing up big and the offense nailing just about everything from the field. Ever since losing to Minnesota in mid-February, they’ve hit at least 47% from the field in every game even though the three point shooting has been just okay.

They got Ohio State twice, winning the first game 67-60 by stopping the Buckeye outside shooters, and taking down the second one by surviving a shaky all-around day 67-65.

They force a slew of one-and-dones by getting out on the three, and they get out by grabbing the rebound – they’re terrific on the glass.

Why Ohio State Will Win

Survive and advance.

Ohio State held off a late charge by Minnesota to win 79-75 in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament – it wasn’t always pretty. However, the Buckeyes hit half of their shots from the field, were great at stopping the Gophers from three, and they kept getting to the line and hitting their free throws.

It hasn’t always been pretty, but the team has had a funky knack throughout the season of rising up and producing when everything starts to click from the outside. The high-octane scoring pop is usually there to go on a big burst, but …

What’s Going To Happen

The Buckeyes are way too inconsistent.

They’re solid, and they keep showing flashes of potential greatness, but they lost the last four games before slinking by a mediocre Minnesota team. Purdue might not be the sexiest team, but it’s effective defensively as it comes into this playing – arguably – its best basketball of the season.
