Dec. 4 Big Ten Championship (in Indianapolis)

Games vs. The West: at Minnesota, at Nebraska, Purdue

Missed Teams From The West: Illinois, Iowa, Northwestern, Wisconsin

Ohio State Buckeyes Football Schedule Analysis: If you’re going to miss four teams from the Big Ten West, you’re a little ticked that you’re not getting Illinois, but if you’re missing Wisconsin, Iowa and Northwestern, there’s no beef whatsoever.

The home game against Oregon will be what everyone focuses on, but it doesn’t really matter – the Buckeyes should be able to roll through the rest of the slate. The road dates at Minnesota, Nebraska and Indiana will hardly be layups, but if Ohio State is national championship good, those can’t be a problem. Put it this way – Alabama wins all three of those games in ugly fashion.

The Michigan game is in Ann Arbor, but that’s hardly matters to the Buckeyes.

Ohio State Buckeyes Football Schedule Best Case Scenario: Ohio State rips through the schedule without breathing too hard. It beats Oregon, destroys Indiana after getting a week off to rest, and is happy to get Penn State at home.

There’s a bit of a brain-cramp battle at some point – like at Nebraska or maybe on the wrong day at home against Penn State – but the 12-0 team rolls into yet another Big Ten Championship.

Ohio State Buckeyes Football Schedule Worst Case Scenario: The Buckeyes drop the date with the Ducks to put the pressure on the rest of the way, and they misfire on one other game. They lose to Penn State, and worst of all, they finally get caught by Michigan to not only make it another year without a national championship, but it’ll be a year without a Big Ten title.

Ohio State football updated and revised 2021 schedule

The Big Ten has announced updated schedules for football in 2021. Here is how it all affects when and where Ohio State will play.

The Big Ten has revised its football schedules for the 2021 season, and that obviously has a huge impact on Ohio State. By and large, the opponents and locations did not change, but things have been shuffled around a wee-bit with the dates of when those same teams are playing the Buckeyes. This is all on the tails of what happened last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

So, because we try to be good little stewards of this schedule update for you, we have the new timeline of events, times, and location for your reading, planning, and logistical consideration.

Here is the updated Ohio State football 2021 schedule with the old opposition in parentheses if applicable. Set your wedding dates and bar mitzvahs now and hope for a more normalized year this fall.

Ohio State football future schedules and opponents

Interested in who Ohio State football has on its future schedules? Here’s a look at future opponents and dates a few years down the line.

Ohio State football’s 2020 campaign is over, but we’re always looking ahead because that’s what we do on the banks of the Olentangy. When one season ends, the next begins because there are things that always need to be plugged in place for the next potential run at another Big Ten championship and College Football Playoff.

Many outside the program that don’t do much research like to criticize the Buckeyes’ schedule, but OSU always tried to play at least one major intersectional matchup with a historically good — if not great — program. Such is the case for future opponents as well.

Don’t believe us? We decided to take a look at the future opponents that are known to date and the games on the docket are pretty impressive. Here’s a look at the teams you can look forward to Ohio State playing in the upcoming years.

An early look at Ohio State football’s 2021 schedule

A season we won’t soon forget for many reasons is over for the Ohio State football team. Time for an early look ahead to the 2021 schedule.

I know, I know, you’re still licking your wounds and watching old Ohio State football games of some of the glory moments to wash the bad taste out of your mouth from the beatdown by Alabama. And, now that the season is over, it’s time to turn our attention to next year.

If you are like us — especially after a crushing defeat — it helps to gaze ahead a little and try to figure out if there’s another run towards a couple of trophies in store for 2021.

So, we decided to look ahead at Ohio State’s schedule for next year with the understanding that there are going to be a lot of unknowns with this team. It’ll have to retool on several fronts, but it’s OSU, so there will be plenty of options to choose from.

But first things first, here’s a look a high-level look at the Ohio State football schedule for 2021 and a backstory for each game.

BREAKING: Michigan-Ohio State canceled, will Big Ten rules change?

With “the game” called off, what comes next?

[jwplayer QVGfvgek-er0jUifI]

After a week of speculation, the news that many had feared became official today: The Ohio State-Michigan game will be canceled. The news was originally reported by TheWolverine.com’s Chris Balas and confirmed by Michigan this morning.

The decision comes as Michigan has had rising COVID-19 positives throughout the past week, and were coming off of a canceled game against Maryland this past Saturday. As of today, the Wolverines have been cleared for limited, distanced workouts, but have not yet been cleared to practice as a team.

The implications from this cancelation depend on the Big Ten decision makers. Currently, a 5-0 Ohio State team would not be able to play in the Big Ten Championship game. The rule has been that teams need to play six games in order to be eligible. In addition, Big Ten teams have not been allowed to schedule outside the conference under any circumstances.

The Big Ten will have one overarching priority in all of this: making sure Ohio State has every chance available to get into the College Football Playoff. With unprecedented rules in an unprecedented year, nothing would be surprising. The Big Ten has nothing holding them back from changing the qualifications for the championship game, or in allowing Ohio State to schedule an opponent for this weekend. Now, we wait and see.

Wisconsin football barely stays in the latest Amway Coaches Poll

The Badgers are barely alive in this week’s Amway Coaches Poll

[jwplayer iqqx5IB9-er0jUifI]

After their second consecutive ugly loss, Wisconsin continued to fall in the latest Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

A 14-6 loss at home against Indiana saw the Hoosiers rise up to No. 9 and the Badgers fall to No. 25 in this week’s rankings.

The top four remains unchanged, with Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson, and Ohio State all staying put.

Ohio State staying in the top four may be contingent on a rule change from the Big Ten that would allow them play in the Big Ten championship game. The Big Ten’s CFP hopes ride on the Buckeyes.

NEXT….A look at the complete Amway Coaches Poll

Report: Big Ten AD’s likely to change the rules so Ohio State can play in the conference title game

If the Buckeyes don’t reach six games, there is a good chance it won’t matter and they will still be playing in the conference championship

According to a report from Stadium’s Brett McMurphy, the Big Ten athletic director’s are likely going to change Big Ten title game requirements to ensure Ohio State can be in. Is anybody surprised?

The Buckeyes are about to improve to 5-0 as they currently lead Michigan State by 30+ late in the fourth quarter, but if next week’s rivalry game with Michigan cannot be played due to the Wolverines COVID-19 concerns, the Buckeyes would not qualify for the championship game due to not playing six games.

The initial league policy was that a team must play six of eight games in order to qualify for the championship game, unless the average number of games played across the league fell under six (which even if every game is cancelled next week it will not).

With Ohio State having the only legitimate chance to represent the conference in the College Football Playoff, and likely needing a Big Ten title game win to get there, the conference is on its way to making the obvious decision.

This also potentially effects Wisconsin, who will not get to six games played. If Northwestern loses next week and the Badgers win out, this rule change would likely allow UW into the Big Ten championship game as well. Although nothing is confirmed yet, the AD’s were always going to do everything possible to ensure the Buckeyes could represent the conference in the playoff.

Big Ten ready to allow schedule changes inside conference due to coronavirus cancellations

The Big Ten has reportedly agreed to allow teams to play other in-conference games should cancelations arise from the coronavirus pandemic.

It’s been a tough year for everybody with a global pandemic causing all of us to re-think how we do day to day life. It appears that the Big Ten has done some rethinking as well, we just didn’t know about it.

ESPN college football reporter, Heather Dinich, shared via Twitter that the Big Ten has had a change of heart when it comes to scheduling. The conference presidents and chancellors met on November 5 to approve schedule changes, but only in conference play. This would allow teams with canceled games, who have had no COVID-19 issues to play each other, even if it would be a repeat matchup. The decision for those two teams to play would have to be made by noon on Wednesday for a Saturday game.

If the reports are true, the newly added change would have had no impact on the Big Ten season thus far as no more than one game has been canceled in a week. Because everyone else was playing except for Ohio State and Maryland, there was no one else to play. However, this could have huge implications in the coming weeks.

Ryan Day has made it known that he would certainly be in favor of teams being allowed to find an opponent should a game not be played due to the novel coronavirus cases. Opening the schedule up to teams outside the conference would make that much easier, but it looks like the Big Ten is at least offering a little hope to teams who have been COVID-19 free. Maybe an out of conference step comes later. Maybe not.

Either way, as for now, Ohio State is scheduled to take on Indiana in a top ten matchup this Saturday… assuming all parties stay healthy. Let’s hope so.

ESPN FPI predicts Ohio State football’s remaining win probability for each game in 2020 after week two

It’s time for our weekly update on how the ESPN FPI sees Ohio State’s win probability shaking out for the remainder of the 2020 schedule.

Okay, we’ve made it through two weeks of Big Ten and Ohio State football. Whew. It sure didn’t look like we’d even get this far just a couple of months ago when the Big Ten decided to postpone the season due to coronavirus concerns.

Now that we’ve actually had a couple of games to look at and ponder, the worldwide leader has updated those predictions once again after week two in the conference. Ohio State has been heavily favored in every game according to the ESPN FPI, and that will only continue if the Buckeyes look as dominant as they have. In fact, OSU just beat back what may end up being the most talented team it plays during the regular season.

Each week, we take another look at what ESPN predicts for the remaining games, and we’re doing it again with just six games remaining in the regular season. As a precursor, you may not be too surprised to see that Ohio State is predicted to win each and every game convincingly.
