Cowboys News: Lamb’s big day at Pro Bowl, Jerry loses bid for World Cup Final

From @ToddBrock24f7: The WR’s 3 touchdowns helped propel the NFC to a win in Orlando; AT&T Stadium will host 9 World Cup matches in 2026 but not the final.

The Pro Bowl Games are in the books, and CeeDee Lamb had a heavy hand in the writing of the NFC’s overall win. In addition to the three touchdowns snared by the wide receiver, several Cowboys also helped accumulate points for the conference in the day’s various skills challenges.

Jerry Jones, meanwhile, was hoping the day would bring the announcement he’d been lobbying for: that AT&T Stadium would serve as the host site for the 2026 World Cup Final. His jewel of a venue was picked to be showcased heavily, but not in the big championship.

And finally, the Cowboys prepare to get going on defensive coordinator interviews, and they’ll include a familiar face. We’ve also got what Micah Parsons had to say about Dan Quinn leaving for the Cowboys’ most storied rivals, a look at what impact the tight ends room will have on the 2024 budget, and an arrest in Texas could weigh on one of the stars of Super Bowl LVIII. Plus, yet another former Cowboys staffer returns to the NFC East. That’s all up in News and Notes.

Cowboys News: Jerry’s Belichick problem, Micah speaks out, mock picks up OL depth

From @ToddBrock24f7: The owner’s words about Bill Belichick won’t help his current head coach; Micah Parsons didn’t mince words; ranking cap space and dynasties.

Cowboys Nation hoped to be ending January with one more football game still to be played. Instead, the owner is already making Mike McCarthy’s job harder by mooning over an unemployed coach, the team’s star linebacker is pointing out how the front office fell short, and the defensive coordinator that fans were ready to send packing may be coming right back with nowhere else to go.

Also in this edition of News and Notes, we’re ranking offensive playmakers, salary cap situations, all-time dynasties, and teams that were influential to league history. We look into why Dallas took a step back in one of the game’s favored personnel groupings, we check out a mock draft that brings offensive line depth to town, and we have suggestions on how to fix the Pro Bowl. All that, plus the real reason why the Super Bowl hasn’t returned to AT&T Stadium… and why it probably won’t ever again.

Cowboys News: Jerry says he’s ‘all in’, Prescott out of Pro Bowl, Romo to get broadcast award

From @ToddBrock24f7: Dissecting comments from Jerry and Stephen Jones made from Mobile, the Cowboys shuffle Pro Bowlers, and Tony Romo’s broadcast award.

Jerry and Stephen Jones found hot microphones in Mobile, so Cowboys Nation now has plenty to talk about. In this edition of News and Notes, we’ll dissect what Jerry had to say about his immensely expensive quarterback and whether “pretty good” has become “good enough” when it comes to the team. He says he’s “all in” for 2024, but what does that actually mean… and what might it look like in someone else’s hands? As for Stephen, he knows fans are frustrated, so why is he invoking names like Brady and Mahomes?

Meanwhile, we’ll detail some late changes to the Pro Bowl roster: three Cowboys are in, and two others are out. We’ve got a new mock draft that may turn a few heads at quarterback, we’re rewinding to the best catches of the Cowboys’ season, and we’re flashing back to one of the most influential teams of all time. Find out what Markquese Bell had to say about being an example for today’s HBCU players, and ignore the Tony Romo slander- the CBS analyst is actually getting a prestigious broadcasting honor.

Cowboys News: Dallas assistant tied to Quinn? Eagles fans excited for Moore, Markquese Bell honored

From @ToddBrock24f7: The latest coaching moves that affect the Cowboys, plus Markquese Bell is set to be honored as the NFL’s HBCU Spotlight Player of the Year.

The Cowboys’ defensive coordinator position is still up in the air as Dan Quinn continues his interviews with other teams. Monday saw him leave for Washington, but not until after he’d taken in some of the practice sessions at The Star for the East/West Shrine Bowl. Coincidentally, the Commanders’ ex-coach looks to be a top name up for consideration to replace Quinn in Dallas if he leaves. And one of the Cowboys’ most highly-regraded defensive assistants goes on the record saying that he’d follow Quinn anywhere for a football job… which means he may be departing Big D soon, too.

Elsewhere, the Cowboys’ top rivals are eagerly awaiting the arrival of a former coordinator, and another ex-Dallas staffer goes back to college to take over an up-and-coming unit. We’re looking ahead to 2024 with running back salaries, candidates to make the third-year jump, and the Dak Prescott option that no one seems to be talking about. We’re previewing Super Bowl LVIII with Cowboys connections on both sides, as well as the Tony Romo-Taylor Swift connection that took place over the weekend. All that, plus Markquese Bell takes home a special honor, and more… in News and Notes.

News & Notes: Could Cowboys cut Dak? Quinn’s next step, Zeke witnesses bar fight near The Star

From @ToddBrock24f7: Dan Quinn gets a 3rd interview, Matt Farniok joins Detroit, and Ezekiel Elliott was at the scene of a bar fight near Cowboys HQ.

Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is reportedly a step closer to anther head coaching gig. In this edition of News and Notes, we’ll tell you how things are progressing, and with which very familiar team. We’ve also got news on Philadelphia’s staff revamp: why their new defensive coordinator may be bad news for Dallas, and which former Cowboys staffer could be in talks to now lead the Birds’ offense.

Elsewhere, a quartet of Cowboys are in the running for some top-shelf accolades, but their competition is coming from inside their own locker room. We’ll get into the spirit of championship weekend with where the Cowboys rank among the NFC’s best title games, which ex-Cowboy is suddenly one game away from a Super Bowl, and which AFC running back caught an odd stray this week from a Dallas defender. We’re going undercover with the team’s secret superstar, and we’re holding out hope for this year’s rookie class to not follow history. All that, plus why Tony Romo in the broadcast booth for Super Bowl LVIII has lost some of its luster.

Cowboys News: Dak’s contract loophole, free agency possibilities, stages of grief

From @ToddBrock24f7: Prescott’s own contract offers the Cowboys a way to avoid a $59M cap hit, and how the team’s postseason flop left Troy Aikman unprepared.

Obviously, the biggest piece of offseason business facing the Cowboys front office is that nearly $60-million cap hit coming for Dak Prescott. But it turns out that the quarterback’s own contract contains language that gives Jerry Jones a way to soften the blow considerably- without an extension or even negotiating with Prescott’s camp. We’ve got that in News and Notes, plus why Cowboys icon Troy Aikman says he still believes in No. 4.

And the Hall of Famer has a little extra free time around the house these days; find out how the current Cowboys squad ruined Aikman’s personal vacation plans. Elsewhere, we’re looking ahead to free agency- who may be going, and who might be worth courting. We’ve got a handful of Cowboys honored with a spot on a prestigious all-star roster, we’ve got news on a fan favorite making his way to a new locker room, and we’ll tell you about why Jerry Jones could be called into court soon. All that, plus how a controversial rule has impacted the Cowboys in recent years, and which former rival coach could be looking to make an NFL comeback… alongside a current Cowboys staffer.

Cowboys News: Peter King’s DPOY vote, Parsons downplays brother’s post, mocks agree on OL help

From @ToddBrock24f7: King agonized over his ballot, saying DPOY came down to Parsons and another. Also, 2 mock drafts agree on Dallas’s biggest need at Pick 24.

Cowboys players cleaned out their lockers last week, some for the final time ever. In this edition of News and Notes, we look at a few soon-to-be-free agents and discuss why one wants to come back, one probably won’t, and one who probably should be re-signed may surprise you. Micah Parsons downplays fiery comments made by a family member on social media, and Peter King reveals why his “agonizing” Defensive Player of the Year vote came down to either Parsons or one other.

Elsewhere, Dan Quinn has a busy week ahead (although one stop on his itinerary may have just been scratched), Cowboys fans have spoken loud and clear (and yes, still angry) in a recent survey, and what sobering message did America’s Team just get from the NFL’s (used-to-be) perennial doormats? We’ve got two mock drafts that agree on the direction Dallas should go with the 24th overall pick, a look back at what the Cowboys should have done with the benefit of hindsight, and an alternate-reality exercise that theorizes exactly what the Cowboys could get if they did the unthinkable this offseason. All that, plus one family is dealt a sudden tragedy and gets a special delivery from someone they never could have expected.

Cowboys News: Reaction to Jerry keeping McCarthy, cheerleader lodges Packers complaint, is Dak the new Romo?

From @ToddBrock24f7: Fallout from the decision to retain McCarthy, has Dak Prescott become the new Tony Romo? Did Packers players go too far on Dallas sideline?

The news that Mike McCarthy is staying on as Cowboys head coach is not sitting well with fans or with a lot of observers within the footballverse. McCarthy’s line Thursday about the Cowboys’ “championship program” struck many as out of touch, and Jerry Jones’s decision to stick with what’s comfortable somehow makes a sixth Super Bowl seem even further away. Add in McCarthy’s statements about Dak Prescott and a sneaking suspicion that even Dan Quinn will be back has Cowboys Nation feeling like it’s going to be lather/rinse/repeat in 2024.

Elsewhere, one member of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders has come out with an accusation that several Packers players got in the squad’s faces in a disrespectful way during Sunday’s game. And the ghost of Tony Romo seems to have resurrected itself wearing the Cowboys’ No. 4 jersey. We’re looking at how the playoff loss was a boon to TV ratings… but does it just prove that it’s become about all the wrong things in Dallas? We’re still wrapping our heads around what went wrong on the field, we’re prepping for a different kind of championship on the field at AT&T, and we’re mocking offensive help to be on the field for next season. All that, plus a lot more, in this edition of News and Notes.

Cowboys News: Keeping McCarthy, paying Prescott, replacing Quinn, adding RBs

From @ToddBrock24f7: What will change now that Mike McCarthy is staying? Dak Prescott’s paycheck, for one. Plus, looking at new defensive coordinators.

Wednesday finally brought the latest drama in Dallas to a close, but it wasn’t the announcement many Cowboys fans were expecting. Jerry Jones announced that Mike McCarthy would be staying on with the team and issued a statement that talked of his “great confidence” in the head coach entering his fifth season. We’ll sift through some of the reasons why- like it or not- it was the only choice that made sense.

Elsewhere, we start looking at what might change with the rest of the team. There are big-dollar decisions to be made (with Dak Prescott at the front of the line) and a possible turnover atop the defensive coaching staff (with several in-house candidates qualified). The bottom of the roster continues to get filled with guys on reserve/futures contracts, including a high-profile project at wide receiver, a returning running back, and a set of fresh legs from Tennessee. We’ve got more analysis of what happened against Green Bay, and one team’s GM compares his underachieving head coach to… Tom Landry?!? All that and more in this edition of News and Notes.

Cowboys News: Jerry’s Dak-McCarthy dilemma, Quinn’s failed scheme, 49ers coach trolls Dallas

From @ToddBrock24f7: Jerry Jones’s best option may not be the fans’ favorite, Quinn’s hybrid strategy backfired, 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan knew it was over early.

Cowboys Nation continues to wait for some word out of Dallas that something- anything– will change in the wake of Sunday’s stinging playoff loss. But the best way for Jerry Jones to achieve the goal he laid out for the team in his dismissal address may not be the route fans necessarily want the team to take. We’ve got more on why there may be less housecleaning than you think. We’ve also got more details on how the defense dropped the ball big-time, even as coordinator Dan Quinn preps for a full week of head coaching interviews… and may even be taking Cowboys players with him.

Elsewhere, we look ahead to the team’s soon-to-be free agents as well as which eight roster-bottom players are already locked in to start 2024. We’ve also got analysis on which team- Dallas or Philadelphia- is better primed to bounce back next season, one rising young star is already working on improvements for the ’24 campaign, and one exciting global phenom in another sport is looking to make the leap to the NFL. All that, plus 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan’s embarrassing answer as to when he felt he could give up on the Cowboys being his team’s next opponent.
