Huskers hosting top 2027 QB target for Wisconsin game

Highly recruited quarterback Trae Taylor will be in town on Saturday.

Class of 2027 four-star quarterback Trae Taylor will visit the Nebraska Cornhuskers this weekend as they take on the Wisconsin Badgers.

According to the Rivals rankings, Taylor is the 33rd-ranked quarterback nationally. He has visited Nebraska twice this season, last on October 5.

The sophomore had a solid year at Carmel High School in Illinois. He threw for 3,061 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also has 41 carries for 342 yards and four touchdowns.

The 2027 Nebraska football recruiting class currently has no commitments at this time. The Huskers have a solid string of quarterback talent, already on the roster and committed in future classes.

The program struggled initially recruiting quarterback depth for the 2025 class. However, they have done a better job of identifying targets at the position for the 2026 and 2027 classes. It’s clear they are zeroing in on Taylor, and it will be interesting to see how his recruitment progresses.

Dylan Raiola optimistic about Huskers chances to salvage season

Dylan Raiola is confident in his team heading into the final two games of the regular season.

Nebraska football suffered a tough defeat at the hands of the USC Trojans on Saturday afternoon. They were close for most of the game but lost by a 28-20 margin. Nebraska football quarterback Dylan Raiola is confident despite the program’s recent slide.

Raiola went 27-of-38 on the afternoon, throwing for 191 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions. This was his first game under the offensive direction of Dana Holgorsen, who was named the offensive coordinator last week.

The freshman still feels confident in what the program can do despite losing four out of its last five games. He does not lack confidence, as reported by 1011 News’s Chase Matteson.

“Husker nation is probably logged out, a lot of uncertainty. It’s up to them. I think we’re gonna roll into these next two games and roll into the bowl game, and then next season we’ll see, and to get rolling from that point.”

Nebraska football is entering a critical juncture of its season. Raiola’s confidence will have to carry over to the rest of the team.

Nebraska’s Tommi Hill headed to Reese’s Senior Bowl

Nebraska defensive back Tommi Hill is headed to Mobile this draft season

Nebraska cornerback Tommi Hill is one step closer to achieving his NFL dream.

On Thursday, it was announced that the senior defensive back has accepted his invitation to the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.

A former Arizona State Sun Devil, Hill is in his fourth season with the Huskers. After entering the season as a potential first-round draft pick, the Florida native’s stock has dropped quite a bit, but he remains an NFL hopeful.

This fall, in seven games, Hill has recorded 21 tackles, including one tackle for loss, one interception, and an additional pass deflection. One season ago, Hill recorded 26 tackles, four interceptions, and nine pass deflections in 12 games.

The Senior Bowl kicks off the NFL Draft season every year, as prospects from around the country flock to Mobile, Alabama, for three days of practices before the game.

Historically, a late January event, this year’s Senior Bowl game will be on February 1.

WATCH: Nebraska’s Emmett Johnson scampers for touchdown

Emmett Johnson was able to catch a pass for a touchdown on Saturday.

Nebraska football scored their second touchdown of the game on Saturday, courtesy of a catch from running back Emmett Johnson. Quarterback Dylan Raiola was able to find Johnson, and the running back was able to do the rest as he dashed his way in for a touchdown. The sophomore took the catch 29 yards to the house.

The touchdown throw was Raiola’s 10th and Johnson’s second of the season. This was the running back’s first receiving touchdown of the year. The touchdown gave Nebraska a 14-7 lead following the extra point.

This was another successful drive as the program continued to get used to new coordinator Dana Holgorsen’s offense.

Saturday’s game has had a bunch of ebbs and flows for both programs. In this particular play, the Huskers were able to take advantage of a physical USC defense.

WATCH: Huskers CB Ceyair Wright snags pick-six for early lead

Ceyair Wright made his impact felt early.

Nebraska football had the first score of the game against the USC Trojans in a bit of an unorthodox way. The Huskers recorded a pick-six courtesy of Ceyair Wright. The former Trojan halted the opposing drive and gave the Huskers a 7-0 lead following the extra point.

It was Wright’s first pick-six of his career as well as his first interception of the season.  It was also Nebraska’s second pick-six of the season. The interception helped Nebraska football set the defensive tone early.

USC was able to answer right back on the ensuing drive, but the interception gave Nebraska a bit of a cushion early on.

Both programs have high-powered offenses. Wright’s interception may prove to be a key point in the game, as both defenses figure to be tested throughout the afternoon. At the very least, he gave himself a homecoming memory to remember.

USC players interrupting Nebraska’s pregame midfield huddle led to a brief scuffle

Not a great look all around.

Opposing players often clash at the end of a game or just after it’s ended when emotions and adrenaline are running high. But sometimes, things get heated during pregame when both teams are on the field warming up, like before Saturday’s Nebraska-USC game.

The Cornhuskers were on the road in Los Angeles on Saturday, and, as is tradition under head coach Matt Rhule, they huddled at midfield for a pregame prayer and meeting. Apparently, some USC players took exception to that and appeared to successfully interrupt the meeting.

As the Lincoln Star Journal noted, some Trojans were stretching and “involved themselves in the meeting,” which led to a small and brief scuffle, forcing members of both teams’ staffs to intervene.

It doesn’t look like any punches were thrown, but there was some shoving and a lot of animated words.

More via the Lincoln Star Journal:

Nebraska defensive line coach Terrance Knighton attempted to control the situation on one side of the huddle, while veteran leaders such as Ben Scott and Isaac Gifford exchanged words with USC’s Elijah Hughes.

A USC staffer eventually removed Hughes from the huddle, with a limited amount of pushing and shoving as Nebraska vacated the midfield area.

Good thing this situation didn’t escalate, especially before kickoff. But here are a couple other angles of the brief clash between players.

Is Dylan Raiola playing on today? Injury updates for the Husker quarterback

The Nebraska quarterback is dealing with an injury. Here are the latest updates.

Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule held his press conference on Thursday and indicated that the quarterback Dylan Raiola will be ready for today’s game against the USC Trojans.

Raiola has been dealing with a back injury throughout the season. He reaggravated it in the program’s last game against the UCLA Bruins. There were initial questions as to whether he would be ready to go for Saturday’s game. Now, we have an answer.

The quarterback has recorded 1,921 yards, ten touchdowns, and eight interceptions on the year. Last time out, he went 14-of-27, throwing for 177 yards, a touchdown, and an interception against the Bruins.

This is certainly a positive development for a Huskers program that needs a spark offensively. Raiola’s status and new offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen could be a recipe for success against a talented Trojans team.

Dylan Raiola injury update

Head coach Matt Rhule said the following when asked about the quarterback’s status for Saturday.

“Dylan will be ready to go and had a great week of practice. We got reps to all the guys. Heinrich (Haarberg) ready to go. Heinrich has had a really good two weeks… we’ll take four quarterbacks out there, but they’re all comfortable with what we do.”

Nebraska quarterback depth chart

Head coach Matt Rhule has told the press that the Huskers will travel to USC this weekend with four quarterbacks available.

  1. Dylan Raiola – #15
  2. Heinrich Haarberg – #10
  3. Daniel Kaelin – #12
  4. Jalyn Gramstad – #19

USC announces tunnel captain for homecoming game

Adoree Jackson will be USC’s tunnel captain for the Nebraska game. USC hopes the game’s outcome matches all the festivities surrounding the event.

On Friday, USC announced its tunnel captain for Saturday’s homecoming game against Nebraska. Serving in the role will be none other than former USC All-America cornerback Adoree’ Jackson. He played at USC from 2014-2016. As a junior in 2016, he became the second Trojan to win the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation’s top defensive back.

Jackson also saw action on offense and special teams during his time in Cardinal and Gold. In fact, he is the Trojans’ all-time leader in both kickoff return yards and punt return touchdowns.

One of Jackson’s most memorable moments at USC came during the 2014 Holiday Bowl against Nebraska, when he returned a kickoff 98 yards for the game’s first touchdown. The Trojans would go on to win the game 45-42.

Jackson was selected 18th in the 2017 NFL draft by the Tennessee Titans. He spent the first four seasons of his professional career there, before signing with the New York Giants in 2021, where he has been since.

Kickoff between USC and Nebraska is set for 1 p.m. local time in Los Angeles on Saturday.
