Bill Barnwell looks at Ndamukong Suh’s Hall of Fame chances

Has Ndamukong Suh done enough to earn a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh this offseason to a one-year deal, hoping the former All-Pro can help the Bucs maintain their ranking as the top rush defense in the league.

While Suh may be looking for a bounce-back year in 2020 according to ESPN’s Jenna Laine, Bill Barnwell takes a deeper look at Suh’s career, and wonders whether or not he is a Hall of Famer.

Barnwell believes Suh is in the running for a gold jacket, giving him a 40 to 69 percent chance of ending up in the Hall of Fame.

Per Barnwell:

“Timing can matter for players, and it has been weird for Suh. The 2010 No. 2 pick was a four-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro during his five seasons in Detroit. He looked to be firmly on a Hall trajectory at that point, but over the ensuing five seasons, he has just one Pro Bowl appearance. He has stayed healthy and productive, so that hasn’t been the issue. The Nebraska product nearly won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2018, but a win with the Bucs and one more All-Pro appearance would greatly help his chances.”

Suh’s years with the Lions are perhaps his most memorable, but as Barnwell rightly points out, he’s struggled to replicate his success in Detroit in the years following his departure.

A Super Bowl win with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would certainly look good on his resume.
