E.J. Liddell named to the Naismith Player of the Year midseason team

In case you missed it, Liddell is starting to get even more national attention lately, and for good reason. #GoBucks

Ohio State basketball forward E.J. Liddell was one of 30 players named to the Naismith Player of the Year midseason team on Thursday.

At 6-foot, 7-inches, Liddell leads the Buckeyes with 19.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game. Now a junior, he has continued to progress in his abilities each season he’s been in Columbus. He’s shooting 51.9% from the floor including a clip of 40.5% from beyond the arc so far in 2021-2022.

The Big Ten is well-represented on the team, with six others making the team. Along with Liddell, Illinois’ Kofi Cockburn, Trayce Jackson-Davis of Indiana, Iowa’s Keegan Murray, Aden Ivey and Zach Edey of Purdue, and Wiconsin’s Johnny Davis all appear on the team.

Ohio State will need his continued heroics down the stretch to have any kind of shot at elbowing its way into contention for a regular-season Big Ten championship and beyond.
