Could Michigan State be heading back to a New Year’s Six bowl game this year? That’s how John Whitaker (a.k.a. Big Game Boomer) see’s it going down.

Whitaker — known by many as Big Game Boomer on Twitter — released a batch of bowl projections for the upcoming 2022 season and he is apparently very high on the Spartans. Or at least higher on Michigan State than College Football News, who also recently released bowl projections.

Whitaker has the Spartans as one of three Big Ten teams making a New Year’s Six game this upcoming season. But which bowl game in particular does he have Michigan State playing in?

Michigan State back in NY6 bowl game in 247Sports’ way-too-early bowl projections

Michigan State will head back to a New Year’s Six bowl game next year, according to Brad Crawford of 247Sports.

Crawford released his way-too-early bowl projections for the College Football Playoff and New Year’s Six bowl games next year, and the Spartans cracked his list. He has Michigan State heading to the Orange Bowl for a fun matchup against the Clemson Tigers.

Here’s a bit of what Crawford had to say about the Spartans:

Michigan State got great news earlier this month with wideout Jayden Reed and safety Xavier Henderson announcing their return as top veterans and as long as the Spartans can patch up talent losses along the offensive line and defensive backfield, they’re going to finish near the top of the Big Ten.

Based on these projections, Crawford has Ohio State as his Big Ten champ and earning a spot in the College Football Playoff, and Michigan landing in the Rose Bowl as the assumed runner-up in the Big Ten East Division.

MSU football still projected for New Year’s Six bowl game despite blowout loss to OSU

See where Brett McMurphy of The Action Network has Michigan State bowling this holiday season

Michigan State’s chances of winning the Big Ten were slashed by the Buckeyes this past weekend, but that appears to not be the case for a spot in a New Year’s Six bowl game at least.

Brett McMurphy — a college football analyst for The Action Network — still has the Spartans slated for a big-time bowl game in his latest projections. He has Michigan State playing Cincinnati in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year’s Day.

If the Spartans can rebound with a victory over Penn State this weekend, then that should be good enough to lock up a spot in the Fiesta Bowl or possibly the Peach Bowl. Nothing will be certain until the following weekend, but a 10-2 Spartans team appears destined for a New Year’s Six bowl game.

Michigan State heading to Pasadena is very much in play after Saturday’s thrilling victory over rival Michigan.

Brett McMurphy of The Action Network has bumped the Spartans up in his latest bowl projections update, with Michigan State now slated to play in the Rose Bowl. The Spartans are projected to play Oregon in the historic New Year’s Day game.

Michigan State last played in the Rose Bowl in 2014, and would certainly be an incredible way to end the season should this happen. That year’s team also was considered a surprising team that no one expected to be as good as they turned out.

Michigan State still slated for Outback Bowl by CFB analyst Brett McMurphy

Not much has changed for the Spartans lately when it comes to college football analyst Brett McMurphy’s weekly bowl projections

[mm-video type=video id=01fjwz6a9c9cyqd03aym playlist_id=01eqbz825g32p3akwt player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01fjwz6a9c9cyqd03aym/01fjwz6a9c9cyqd03aym-2ea29639b2ef990672dc65b170fa5d62.jpg]

Not much has changed for the Spartans lately when it comes to college football analyst Brett McMurphy’s weekly bowl projections.

Michigan State remains slated for the Outback Bowl in McMurphy’s updated bowl projections that were released on Monday. The Spartans are now projected to play Arkansas in this traditional Big Ten vs. SEC matchup.

Michigan State could find themselves in a New Year’s Six bowl game in next week’s projections should they find a way to beat undefeated rival Michigan this weekend. Until then, the Outback Bowl will have to do — which Spartans’ fans should be plenty happy with based on the preseason expectations.
