ESPN’s Mina Kimes had the perfect response to WEEI producer’s awful excuse for using a racial slur

Mina Kimes is the best.

ESPN’s Mina Kimes is one of the brightest minds covering football. She’s also a great follow on Twitter thanks to her funny takes and witty responses.

Not everyone is as smart as Kimes though, as WEEI (Boston) radio producer Chris Curtis demonstrated Wednesday during a taping of the The Greg Hill Show.

While the crew was discussing different types of mini-liquor bottles, also known as “nips,” Curtis blurted out “Mina Kimes.” Nip is an ethnic slur against people of Japanese descent. In an apology, Curtis said he meant to say “Mila Kunis,” which still would’ve been sexist if you believe him.

Either way, Kimes, who’s actually of Korean descent, had the perfect response to his idiocy, changing her Twitter profile picture to none other than Mila Kunis.

In a statement to USA TODAY, ESPN called the comments “uncalled for and extremely offensive.”

Curtis should probably count his blessings that he wasn’t fired and talk a little less when he returns.

Watch: Mina Kimes plays virtual QB for Seahawks

If they need a fourth, perhaps they could hit up ESPN analyst and Seahawks superfan Mina Kimes.

The Seahawks seem to be happy with Geno Smith and Drew Lock as their top two options at QB. They are set to become free agents next month but Pete Carroll says they want to keep both. Seattle also carried a third QB on their practice squad this season, first Jacob Eason and later Sean Mannion.

If they need a fourth, perhaps they could hit up ESPN analyst and Seahawks superfan Mina Kimes. Watch Mina play some virtual QB for Seattle in this ad for Status Pro.

In related news, Mina will be a free agent herself soon.

Kimes’ contract with ESPN is set to expire, which could set off a bidding war. Bill Simmons and Dan Le Batard are interested, to name a few.

Mina Kimes: Seahawks moving on entirely from Geno Smith would be foolish

Here’s what she had to say about the QB situation earlier this week on ESPN.

The Seahawks have two more games left to play this season – and possibly a wild-card game after that. At the moment it seems unlikely given that they’ve lost five of their last six games, including a few against inferior opponents. Even if they do squeak into the playoffs, the likelihood of this team winning a postseason matchup on the road is pretty fanciful.

That means it’s about time to start thinking about next year. Question No. 1 for the Seattle front office this coming offseason will be how to improve their defense, which is the main reason they’ve dropped below .500. After that they need to decide what to do with Geno Smith.

Ask ESPN analyst and Seahawks superfan Mina Kimes and she’ll say it would be foolish to move on from Smith entirely, but she won’t rule out the team drafting a quarterback, though. Here’s what she had to say about the QB situation earlier this week on ESPN.

ESPN’s Mina Kimes is a believer in Jacoby Brissett: ‘more than a game manager’

Jacoby Brissett continues to win over those who have taken in his performances.

Not even the Cleveland Browns expected this level of production out of career journeyman quarterback Jacoby Brissett when they signed him to a one-year deal this offseason. As Brissett leaves the starting gig off of a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he has won over more than one believer that he can do it elsewhere beyond 2022. Adding to his list of believers is ESPN’s Mina Kimes as well.

Speaking on Brissett today, Kimes had this to say:

“I just want to take stock in what he has accomplished there. Walking into the most chaotic situation in the NFL… and has played some of the best football of his career… He has not just been a game manager, he has been accurate, tough, decisive. And I believe [he] is actually better than a number of starters in this league and I hope he gets that opportunity again based on what he put on tape this season.”

Brissett finishes his time as the starting quarterback in Cleveland falling second in completion percentage over expected, sixth in QBR, and fifth in DVOA as he performed to an extremely efficient level.

While it would be lovely for Brissett to return to Cleveland as a backup quarterback beyond 2022, the journeyman has earned the right to earn bridge quarterback money and a starting gig elsewhere based on his play for the Browns this season.

Mina Kimes: Geno Smith playing with more confidence, aggression than any QB in the league

Now halfway through the ’22 season, Smith has blown away all our previous expectations and perceptions about his game.

Coming into the 2022 season, we were expecting Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith to play a certain way – specifically, something similar to what we saw from him in 2021. In Smith’s three starts replacing an injured Russell Wilson, he was careful and effective running Seattle’s offense, if not terribly productive. Now halfway through the ’22 season, Smith has blown away all our previous expectations and perceptions about his game.

Smith has still done an excellent job of protecting the ball (he has just four interceptions and leads the league with a 73.1% completion rate), but he’s also been one of the most aggressive deep passers in the league. According to Pro Football Focus, Geno entered last week with nine touchdown passes of 20 or more yards this season, leading the NFL. He’s also been their highest-graded QB this season on those throws.

Watch ESPN’s Mina Kimes talk about Smith’s confidence and willingness to take deep shots.

Mina Kimes: Seahawks GM John Schneider ‘absolutely smashed’ this offseason

Watch ESPN’s Mina Kimes give Schneider his props for a remarkable offseason.

Geno Smith and Pete Carroll have gotten a ton of credit for the Seahawks’ surprisly good performance so far this year. The 2022 rookie class is also wallowing in ink. One guy who’s not getting a ton of attention is general manager John Schneider, who obviously had a big hand in engineering what’s starting to look like the best offseason any NFL team had.

Mina Kimes: ‘Of course’ Seahawks fans are booing Russell Wilson

Watch Mina Kimes explain why nobody should be shocked by this development.

Russell Wilson will probably retire with the Seahawks one day and all this ugliness will be long forgotten. For now, Seattle’s former franchise quarterback is public enemy No. 1 based on the reaction he got from the crowd at Lumen Field on Monday night. While it’s not a surprise to anyone who’s been following the story the last few years, a lot of pearls are being clutched by sports media over Wilson’s treatment.

Mina Kimes focused on development for young Seahawks

She specifically mentioned three important rookies to watch.

Reasonable expectations is the name of the game for Seahawks fans heading into the 2022 season. In the absence of Russell Wilson, it’s difficult to see the team competing for a playoff spot come January. However, there are reasons to be hopeful about the future of this team.

ESPN analyst and Seahawks fan Mina Kimes was a guest on Bump and Stacy earlier this week and talked about what she’s focused on for this coming season.

Instead of hoping for a high win total or a playoff run, she’s interested in seeing how certain pieces develop as the year goes on. She specifically mentioned three important rookies to watch.

“Nobody has any delusions, I think, that this is a team that’s going to make a deep playoff run, but you want to see the pieces in place so that next year if they draft a quarterback or go after one in free agency, it feels like the foundation is set for you for the next playoff team… You’re focusing on players and their development, and watching Seattle, there’s things to be encouraged by, there’s things to be frustrated by. I mentioned the two offensive tackles, aside from the false starts by Charles Cross, obviously really encouraging signs from both him and Abe Lucas both in pass protection and run blocking… On the other side of the ball, defensively I think Boye Mafe, who’s their second-round pick this year, has definitely flashed some of that explosiveness and motor you saw in college.”

It’s still too early to tell, but it appears Seattle set a strong foundation at three key positions in the 2022 NFL draft; namely offensive tackle, EDGE and cornerback. If the rookies at those three spots show improvement throughout the year it will be a good indicator for future success.

The missing ingredient of course is a franchise quarterback – all other progress will be moot if they can’t find a quality starter in 2023, either in the draft or via free agency or a trade.

ESPN’s Mina Kimes threw a perfect strike on first pitch before Mariners game

With the way their season’s going, maybe Kimes could pitch for the Mariners.

The Mariners aren’t having a terrible season by any means, but they’re definitely not enjoying themselves either. A little over two months into the season, they’re 26-31 and in a distant third place to the Astros in the AL West.

When the Red Sox (-1.5 favorites) visited Seattle on Friday night, the Mariners needed a new secret weapon. Someone who could throw strikes and keep the ball over the plate — you know, quality pitching.

Why not ESPN NFL analyst and diehard Seahawks fan Mina Kimes? Kimes, of course, threw out the first pitch as an honored guest.

And she nailed it.

You have one job as a pitcher: Get the ball over the plate. Kimes did her job. Now, if they had any sense in them, maybe the Mariners would call Kimes and talk business.

Chargers go full savage on the Seahawks in their schedule release video

Chargers go full savage on the Seahawks in 2022 schedule release video

The Seahawks will be facing the Chargers this season – we just found out it will come Week 7 in LA at Sofi Stadium.

Apparently they are looking to get started early by sharing some classic bulletin board material. In their anime-themed 2022 schedule release video, they absolutely savaged the Seahawks, the Legion of Boom, Mina Kimes and the 2001 Mariners for good measure.

Alright, then.

The Chargers have an exciting top-five quarterback in Justin Herbert and fast-rising young roster, but they’re also competing in the toughest division in football. The blockbuster trades that sent Russell Wilson to the Broncos and Davante Adams to the Raiders will make it that much harder to get out of the AFC West in the coming years, to say nothing of the championship juggernaut in Kansas City. Even though the Chargers have a good team, it shouldn’t shock anybody if they finished in last place in their division.
