One fantasy experts says Jameis Winston is a ‘must start’ in Week 15

See why fantasy football expert Michael Fabiano thinks Jameis Winston is a must start quarterback in Week 15.

It’s been a while since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have played a meaningful game in December, and even though this year’s team will miss out on the postseason again, you can’t say they haven’t been fun to watch.

The Bucs are 4-1 in their last five games and are coming off a huge comeback win in Week 14 over the Colts. This Sunday, they’ll travel to Detroit to take on the Lions who have lost six-straight games.

Even though Tampa Bay will be without wide receiver Mike Evans for the rest of the year due to a hamstring injury, the Bucs are still favored over Detroit, likely because of quarterback Jameis Winston.

The Bucs starter had four touchdown passes in the win over the Colts and rushed for another while throwing for a career-high 456 yards. He had three interceptions, too, but thankfully, the team was able to overcome them.

Winston is on pace for 5,000 yards now, which would put him in truly elite company. It’s probably one of the reasons fantasy expert Michael Fabiano says Winston is a “virtual must start” against Detroit.

Here’s what Fabs had to say in his QB Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em.

“Winston is coming off a monster performance, scoring nearly 35 fantasy points against the Colts. Assuming he isn’t hindered due to a tiny fracture in his hand, Winston is a virtual must start when the Bucs face the Lions in Detroit. Their defense has allowed an average of more than 20 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks in 2019.”

Winston can put up big passing numbers. The issue is just turnovers. The loss of Evans will allow guys like Breshad Perriman and O.J. Howard to get more targets, but there’s no denying that Evans was Winston’s safety blanket. Chris Godwin will have to fill that role now.

Michael Fabiano says to trust Jameis Winston in Week 13

Find out why fantasy football guru Michael Fabiano thinks you should start Jameis Winston against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston has put up some big numbers this year, which has been both good and bad. He’s already thrown for 3,391 yards and is on pace to throw 4,932, which would obliterate his previous season high of 4,090 (2016).

But, unfortunately, Winston has also been turning the ball over at an alarming rate, having already thrown for 20 interceptions in 11 games, becoming the first quarterback since **gulp** Jay Cutler to do that.

As you can imagine, Winston’s erratic play has frustrated fantasy football owners who have the Bucs QB on their roster. It’s hard to predict week-to-week which Winston will show up, but fantasy expert Michael Fabiano says to start him this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Here’s why:

“Winston continues to be difficult to trust, but he does rank fifth in passing yards per game and 10th in fantasy points among quarterbacks. This week he faces the Jaguars, who just allowed nearly 40 fantasy points to Ryan Tannehill a week ago. While there’s always risk of an implosion, I still like Winston in this game.”

Even though it’s a road game for the Bucs, it’s a short trip between Tampa and Jacksonville. Winston threw two early interceptions last week, but managed to get back on track and lead his team to a 35-22 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

We’ve all been waiting for the Bucs to string together back-to-back wins this season. Week 13 could be it.

Michael Fabiano says avoid starting Jameis Winston in Week 12

NFL.com fantasy football expert Michael Fabiano says sit Jameis Winston this week against the Atlanta Falcons.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston enters Sunday’s Week 12 showdown with the Atlanta Falcons having thrown 18 interceptions on the year, matching his career-high for a season.

With Tampa Bay at 3-7 and his future with the team in doubt, Winston will need to play near-perfect football from here on out to make his final case to the team that he deserves a new deal. But, given how well the Falcons defense has been playing of late, it might be hard to get back on track against Atlanta.

Fantasy expert Michael Fabiano foresees trouble for Winston on Sunday and advises any fantasy owners with the Bucs QB on their roster to sit him.

Here’s Fabs’ reasoning:

“Winston is coming off a four-interception game against the Saints, and now he’s tasked with facing maybe the hottest defense in the league when the Bucs visit the Falcons. In their last two games, Atlanta has put up 11 sacks, four interceptions and held Drew Brees to fewer than 12 fantasy points. I’d beware of Winston this week.”

You’d be hard-pressed to find many people jumping at the chance to start Winston. The guy can put up big yardage, that’s for sure, but his turnover problems have been his ultimate downfall.

For what it’s worth, Fabiano says you should start Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan against the Buccaneers.

“Ryan has put up a couple of stinkers in a row, but you have to like this week’s matchup against the Buccaneers. Their defense has surrendered four straight top-10 quarterback performances, and the position has averaged a 102.1 passer rating and more than 23 fantasy points per game. Ryan is a good bet to post top-10 totals this week.”

I feel like Tampa Bay’s defense is poised for a breakout game, much like the Falcons had against the Carolina Panthers last week, when their defense had five sacks and four interceptions. I’m not saying the Bucs do the same to the Falcons, but as Ndamukong Suh said on Instagram earlier this week, beware the quiet man.
