Manny Pacquiao released a statement on Wednesday revealing that he now handles his own promotional business dealings and that “the fans want” the boxing legend to co-promote any possible fight with MMA star Conor McGregor.

In a public series of verbal confrontations with UFC president Dana White, McGregor has hinted that his next competitive foray will be either a return MMA fight with Dustin Poirier in Ireland or another step into boxing against Pacquiao.

Pacquiao tweeted that he was no longer under contract to Audie Attar’s Paradigm Sports Management, which also has McGregor as a client, and that he would want to co-promote a crossover bout with the Irishman.

The statement read: “At the present time, I do not have an existing management contract with Audie Attar. I have formed my own company, Pac Sports and Entertainment, and am more than willing to give the fans what they want: an exciting fight with Conor McGregor under terms and conditions where I am the co-promoter with my company. Thank you and God bless.”

The news comes very soon after Attar had hinted that such a fight would need the blessing of White, since McGregor remains under UFC contract, though Pacquiao’s now ex-manager was confident they had White’s go-ahead.

Welterweight contender Mikey Garcia has said that he, not Conor McGregor, will be the next to fight Pacquiao.

McGregor of course stepped into the boxing ring once before, when he lost to unbeaten star Floyd Mayweather in August 2017. Mayweather also defeated Pacquiao in their long-anticipated showdown in May 2015.

MMA star Conor McGregor recently tweeted that he will fight Manny Pacquiao in December or January somewhere in the Middle East, and an aid to Pacquiao seemed to confirm the news.

Mikey Garcia, who has been in talks with Pacquiao, subsequently insisted that he will be the Filipino legend’s next foe. However, even if that’s true, it doesn’t mean Pacquiao couldn’t face McGregor afterward.

Does a fight between Pacquiao and McGregor have any appeal?

In this episode of Jabs with Mannix and Mora, courtesy of DAZN, hosts Chris Mannix and Sergio Mora give their thoughts on that topic.

Here’s what they had to say.

It didn’t take long for the oddsmakers to open a line on a potential Conor McGregor vs. Manny Pacquiao boxing match.

Following McGregor’s stream of tweets Friday, in which he claimed he’s going to box Manny Pacquiao in the Middle East, online sportsbook Bovada released odds on the potential matchup.

Pacquaio (62-7-2, 39 KOs) opens as a -450 favorite. For those unfamiliar with gambling lines, this means a $450 bet would win a $100 reward on top of a refund should it cash.

As for McGregor (0-1), the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion comes in at an underdog price of +325. For those unfamiliar with gambling lines, this means a $100 bet placed on McGregor would earn a $325 reward on top of a refund should it cash.

The fight must occur in 2020 or 2021 in order for action to take place.

In 2017, McGregor competed in his lone professional boxing match when he took on Floyd Mayweather in a major crossover pay-per-view event. Mayweather defeated McGregor by TKO in Round 10.

McGregor, 32, has not competed in any combat sport since January, when he defeated Donald Cerrone by first-round TKO at UFC 246. Prior to that fight, McGregor’s previous bout came in October 2018 when he lost to UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov by fourth-round submission.

Since Pacquiao, 41, lost a May 2015 blockbuster fight against Floyd Mayweather, he has gone 5-1. He most recently competed in July 2019, defeating Keith Thurman via 12-round split decision to win his title.
