Want to go to the 2025 Masters? Here’s how to get tickets to Augusta National

You can go to the Masters next year. Yeah, you.

You can go to the Masters next year. Yeah, you.

The Masters Tournament is one of the hottest tickets to get in sports, but it’s also one of the hardest to get your hands on. That’s because Augusta National Golf Club holds a selection process every year for the Masters, Augusta National Women’s Amateur and Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals.

The applications for tickets to all three events generally opens around the first week of June. The first step is as easy as creating an account on the Masters, ANWA and DCP websites (it’s one account, but you’ll need to visit each individual site and log in to apply for tickets to each event).

Hopeful patrons can apply for multiple days at each event but are only eligible to secure tickets for one day. Applications are also limited to one per household.

MASTERS: Live updates | Thursday tee times | TV, streaming

Prices fluctuate, but the 2024 ticket cost was $100 for practice rounds and $140 for tournaments rounds. For the final round of the ANWA, it was $100; the DCP National Finals tickets were $25.

Hard to beat that value.

The only way to pay for tickets is through the website. Augusta National will inform those who have been selected in late July.

More information can be found on the official Masters website, which includes this message for anyone thinking about reselling tickets:

As a reminder, Augusta National, Inc. is the only authorized source/seller of Masters® Tickets. The resale of any Masters Ticket is strictly prohibited. Holders of Tickets acquired from third parties, by whatever means, may be excluded from attendance to the Tournament.

Masters Survey 2024: Padraig Harrington, Gary Player, Collin Morikawa among pros sharing their funniest ticket stories

A ticket to the Masters is one of the most coveted tickets in all of sports. Few know better than Masters contestants, who are given eight badges for their family and are allowed to buy up to four more.

That’s when the fun begins — trying to divvy them up for the week to family and friends. Zach Johnson carries around a spread sheet in his wallet so he can keep track of it. Will Zalatoris is another Excel spreadsheet guy to manage his ticket requests. Brian Harman has his wife handle it.

“I told her at the beginning I’m trying to win this tournament, you’re in charge,” he said.

We asked pros to name their funniest Masters ticket story and from Paddy to Gary to Collin and beyond, they didn’t disappoint.

My wife handles all that. I told her at the beginning I’m trying to win this tournament, you’re in charge so I always tell anyone who asks to text her.

Last year I had two friends come in on Thursday night. I completely forgot to leave their tickets at Will Call. I was teeing off in five minutes and took one last look at my phone. The tickets were still in my bedroom in a backpack. I gave them the code to our rental, they had to drive there, find them and I didn’t see them until the 15th hole.

My church minister from South African, who was touring America, asked me for a ticket. I made the mistake of giving him my own badge. When he came to the gates, the security guards grabbed him to question how he obtained Gary Player’s badge. Fortunately, the chairman at the time, Bill Lane from Texas who was the ultimate gentleman, took care of the matter.

I don’t know if it is funny but it’s a cool one. I get picked up from Palm Springs by a really nice volunteer one year and we get to talking and he says it’s his dream to go to Augusta and take his son. I said, “I’ve got some tickets for this year.” The way he looked at me was everything. We stayed in contact and I got him tickets for Monday and Tuesday practice rounds.

I always say turn up and we will find you a ticket. It’s difficult to promise someone a ticket but someone who makes the effort to come from Ireland, I always found a way to get them in.

One year, I hit it straight through the 14th fairway and I’m in the crowd. This guy who I’d given a ticket to has broken free from the ring of people standing by my ball and is beside my caddie asking him what I have left? He got so excited. One of my other ticketed friends leaned over the crowd and grabbed him by the collar to bring him back in. I had one guy completely lose their mind in the excitement and another who was well aware to bring him back down to earth.

One time I had a couple tickets that came available and I offered them to a buddy of mine who is a professional wakeboarder in Orlando. He dropped everything and rented a car and drove up. It was a reality check and made me appreciate how special it is either to play in it or to go and watch it.

Our friends showed up from many states away and they brought their newborn baby. They were asked for a ticket for the baby. No forgiveness.

Not a funny one, but I keep a spreadsheet because I have one friend coming in Monday-Tuesday and another for Tuesday-Wednesday. I need it to keep track of everything.

I have over-committed and had members save me. I’m a little OCD. We are given eight, I buy the max of four. I make a spreadsheet and I keep it in my wallet.

Tickets for the 2023 Masters are up 20 percent from last year, still the best deal in sports

$450 is still an outrageous deal.

We are just over 91 days away from round one of the 2023 Masters.

Folks on the patron list were alerted that tickets are officially available for the year’s first major. With one small change from 2022.

Last year, weekly badges (good for all four tournament days) went for $375. This year, they’ll run patrons $450, according to the executive editor for The Aiken Standard, John Boyette.

If you’ve never seen Masters ticket prices before, the cost might surprise you. Just over $100 to spend a day at the greatest place on Earth — it’s a no-brainer.

For comparison, a single-day pass for the ’23 Honda Classic is listed at $75. A Monday pass for this year’s U.S. Open is $125. Saturday is $300.

Did a man sell a golf travel company fake Masters badges? That’s what a new lawsuit alleges.

An Arizona company specializing in selling golf vacations has filed suit, alleging a man provided bogus tickets to the Masters.

An Arizona company specializing in selling golf vacations has filed suit against Joe Mullins, alleging he provided bogus tickets to the Masters Tournament in 2018 and failed to come through with badges in 2019.

Golf Travel LLC filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Augusta on April 9. The lawsuit seeks compensatory damages of hundreds of thousands of dollars, more than $1.5 million in future earnings and punitive damages.

Golf Travel’s lawsuit is the second to be filed in federal court against Mullins over the sale of Masters practice round tickets and tournament badges. In 2013, Global Events Management filed suit, alleging Mullins was paid $300,000 for tournament badges but didn’t deliver, allegedly costing the company at least $900,000. That suit was settled for undisclosed terms in February 2017.

[listicle id=778098833]

The Golf Travel lawsuit alleges it arranged to buy 183 practice round tickets and 95 badges for the 2018 tournament. The company claims it paid Mullins a total of $606,150. But 43 of its customers were stopped at the gate for presenting fraudulent badges. The Golf Travel customers were escorted from Augusta National Golf Club. Golf Travel contends it had to pay $200,400 to replace badges and refund an additional $103,032.

The following year, before Golf Travel contends it learned what really happened in 2018, it paid Mullins $840,900 for practice tickets and tournament badges. The company alleges Mullins didn’t deliver on the tickets and badges and later failed to refund money paid in advance.

The only authorized seller of Masters tickets and badges is Augusta National. For the 2022 tournament, applications can be submitted June 1-21, according to an earlier report in The Augusta Chronicle.

Augusta-area sheriff’s office on lookout for fake Masters tickets

Ahead of the 2021 Masters Tournament at Augusta National, there are warnings about fake tickets.

The secondary ticket market might be more active than normal as Masters Week arrives and more golf fans than normal lack access to the exclusive tournament.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is warning people about scams and fake tickets this year, due to the limited number of patrons allowed into the tournament. Usually, ticket scalpers set up along Washington Road leading up to the tournament, but this year it has remained fairly empty, just like in November.

In January, Augusta National Golf Club announced it would allow a limited number of patrons in this April due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic postponed the 2020 Masters to November, when it was contested without fans in attendance.

Capt. Scott Gay said they won’t let their guard down.

“I think people will try anything to gain access into the Augusta National Golf Club,” he said. “There are a number of security features in place to prevent fake or invalid credentials from entering the property.”

Georgia law prohibits the buying or selling of tickets within 2,700 feet of a venue. The boundaries from Augusta National extend from around Taco Bell on Washington Road to Calhoun Expressway and from Surrey Center on Berckmans Road to just past the fire station on Alexander Drive.

The distance is measured from the golf course, not the parking lots.

Although Augusta National is the only authorized seller of Masters tickets, the sheriff’s office enforces state law and not the golf club’s policy, Gay said.

“The only people that can sell Augusta National tickets, by policy, is the Augusta National. They are taking a risk if they buy it second-handedly, it’s a huge risk,” Gay said.

Gay said they had no security problems in November and expects another quiet Masters Week this year. In 2019, the sheriff’s office made no ticket scalping arrests.

Gay said people should report any fake credentials or tickets to local authorities, so they can investigate and see how they are being transmitted and disseminated. He said people need to be aware of potential scams.

“If it’s too good to be true, it’s probably a scam,” he said. “Don’t fall for something that is too good to be true.”

Masters organizers announce delay in ticketing process for 2021 badges

An email to ticket holders seems a realization that a second Masters tournament will be greatly influenced by COVID.

Will spectators roam the grounds at Augusta National when the second Masters in six months rolls through this April?

That’s still the hope, although an email to ticket holders seems a sad realization that a second tournament will be greatly influenced by COVID.

“As planning continues on how to stage the 2021 Masters Tournament safely and responsibly, we would like to inform you that Augusta National is delaying the ticket process for Patron Series Badges, which traditionally begins Jan. 1,” an email said, according to ESPN.com.

“Our intention is to communicate our decisions for the 2021 Masters to all patrons of record by the end of January. No further action is needed with your account at this time.”

[vertical-gallery id=778074351]

The delay doesn’t necessarily mean plans for the 2021 event have changed, but it shows that Augusta National Golf Club is trying to buy a little time to solidify a plan for the 85th edition of the famed tournament,

The 2020 event won by Dustin Johnson was held with just a few volunteers and auxiliary staff on the grounds, which made for a peculiar vibe.

But players insisted it’s special playing Augusta National under any circumstances.

“There are no bad days out here, and without the grandstands, without all that, people can see and appreciate it,” Augusta native Charles Howell III said. “There’s different angles and different layouts and different ways you can play a hole.”

“Whether there’s fans or not, we’re playing the same golf course and trying to shoot the low score and beat the same players that we have to try and do every single year,” Jordan Spieth added. “It doesn’t change with the patrons. It’s just kind of more the ambiance and what really makes the Masters that next level special is the patrons, but as a competitor, it’s really no change.”

One interesting angle is how Augusta National might retract tickets from those who had been told their 2020 badges or practice round tickets would roll over to the 2021 event if a smaller number of patrons are allowed to attend.

The deadline to apply for 2021 practice rounds and daily tournament tickets was June 21.

The cost for practice round tickets was $75, while daily tournament tickets were listed at $115.

The 2021 Masters will be held April 5-11.
