Week 14 keys to victory: New York Jets at Seattle Seahawks

The Week 14 keys to victory for both the Seattle Seahawks and the New York Jets when they face off Sunday at Lumen Field.

The Seattle Seahawks are set to host the New York Jets in Week 14 at Lumen Field. Here are the keys to victory for both teams.

Jets’ keys to victory

The winless New York Jets will be continuing their campaign for the league’s top 2021 NFL draft pick when they head to Seattle to face the Seahawks in Week 14. Despite almost sneaking by the Raiders to nearly everyone’s surprise, the Jets still have a lot to do to earn their first victory this year.

While New York’s offense may seriously be challenged by the Seahawks on Sunday, the Jets’ defense will be up against a very questionable offensive line in Seattle if right tackle Brandon Shell isn’t back in the linehup. If New York wants a chance against QB Russell Wilson, testing his protectors may be the best game plan for the Jets in the Emerald City.

The Jets also know exactly what to expect from one member of Seattle’s secondary . . . more on him later.

Week 13 inactives: Seattle Seahawks host New York Giants

The complete list of inactive players ahead of the Week 13 contest as the Seattle Seahawks host the New York Giants at Lumen Field.

The Seattle Seahawks host their first of two New York teams in as many weeks on Sunday with the Giants first up on the slate.

Seattle had not ruled out a single player ahead of the contest, although three were listed as doubtful to play on Friday’s injury report: cornerback Tre Flowers, running back Travis Homer and offensive tackle Brandon Shell. All three are inactive Week 13 against the Giants.

In addition, five players were listed as questionable, with tackle Cedric Ogbuehi a late addition to the report on Saturday afternoon: defensive end Carlos Dunlap (foot), center/guard Kyle Fuller (ankle), running back Carlos Hyde (toe), guard Damien Lewis (groin) and Tackle Cedric Ogbueh (calf).

Here’s a look at the complete inactive lists for both the Seahawks and the Giants.

Seahawks announce no fans allowed at next 2 games at Lumen Field

The Seattle Seahawks have announced no fans will be allowed at the next two games at Lumen Field due to the surge in COVID-19 cases.

The Seattle Seahawks had hoped to have fans in the stands at some point during the 2020 NFL season but that may not be the case. Based on the recent surge of COVID-19 cases around the country and the Seattle area, the team made the difficult decision to announce Lumen Field would remain empty for at least the next two home games.

“Due to the current case counts of COVID-19 in our state, we will continue playing without fans in attendance at our home games on Dec. 6 (vs. N.Y. Giants) and Dec. 13 (vs. N.Y. Jets),” the statement reads. “We are continuing to work closely with local public health and government officials and are committed to following their lead to keep our community safe. We will keep fans informed as decisions are made for our Dec. 27 home game and beyond. We continue to urge all fans to remain vigilant with physical distancing, mask wearing and following all local guidelines.”

The Seahawks will square off against the Eagles in Philadelphia this Monday night in yet another prime-time appearance.

Week 11 preview and prediction: Cardinals at Seahawks

Previewing and predicting the Seattle Seahawks’ Week 11, Thursday-night matchup against the Arizona Cardinals at newly-branded Lumen Field.

The Seattle Seahawks are making their return to “Thursday Night Football” and not a moment too soon, as the team – and all the 12’s out there – are looking for an opportunity to wash the bad taste of their ugly loss to the Rams out of their mouths.

Losers of three of their last four games, the bottom has started to fall out from underneath the Seahawks, who have gone from the top seed in the entire conference to third place in their own division.

Unfortunately, attempting to get things back on track won’t be a walk in the park. The Seahawks will be playing their first divisional rematch of the season as they host the Cardinals at the newly renamed Lumen Field. Regardless of what the name of the building is, the Cardinals will likely remain unphased, as they have made Seattle a bit of a home-away-from-home this year.

Arizona has won five of the last seven games in this series in the Emerald City. Its most recent victory was last year’s 27-13 slugfest, an embarrassing loss in which the Seahawks offense only crossed the 50-yard line twice all afternoon.

The peculiarity of this rivalry over the years has been the fact that the road teams seemed to win. Except this year, the Cardinals managed to defend their home turf, leaving the Seahawks in the daunting position to figure out how to follow suit for only the third time since 2012.

In fact, it was the loss to the Cardinals in Arizona which started to unravel the Seahawks this season. Instead of leaving Glendale with a solid division win and an unblemished 6-0 record, the Seahawks squandered a 10-point lead with only minutes remaining due to poor defense and untimely penalties.

Now the Seahawks are reeling and hardly feel competitive. Not only is the defense arguably worse from when these two teams met, but the offense has regressed drastically as well. Russell Wilson has turned into a turnover machine and the offense cannot run the ball due to more cluster injuries at the running back position.

The Seahawks have never lost three games in a row under Wilson, but this could very well change.

Welcome to Lumen Field: Seahawks’ CenturyLink gets new name

CenturyLink Field has undergone its fourth name change – the Seattle Seahawks’ stadium will now be known as Lumun Field.

CenturyLink Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Sounders FC, has undergone its fourth name change – this one just in time for the Seahawks’ prime-time, Thursday-night matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. The stadium will now be known as Lumun Field.

The name change comes after CenturyLink’s September rebranding to Lumen Technologies.

“Through a shared vision and commitment to serving the Seattle community, we are proud to enter a new era of world-class sports and entertainment with Lumen Field,” Chuck Arnold, President, Seattle Seahawks and First & Goal Inc. said in the press release. “For nearly two decades, the stadium has made its mark as a premier Seattle venue, and a place for the community to experience thrilling victories, establish sacred traditions, and witness unforgettable moments together. We are excited to build upon that legacy and experience amazing things at Lumen Field for years to come.”

The rebrand to Lumen Field is covered under the existing naming rights agreement which extends through 2033. The new signage is expected to be completed by the start of the 2021 Seahawks season.
