Stock up, down after Giants’ 23-17 victory over Jaguars

Whose stock is up and whose is down following the New York Giants’ victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7?

The New York Giants rallied again on Sunday, coming back late in the fourth quarter to secure a 23-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The win improved their record to 6-1 on the season and has them positioned for a shot at the playoffs.

But the win was far from clean. In fact, it may have been the Giants’ ugliest performance of the entire season and left a lot to be desired. The good news? They’re still finding way to win and ways to improve.

Whose stock is up and whose is down after the dramatic Week 7 win? Let’s take a look.

The New York Giants improved to 6-1 on the season after a nail-biting 23-17 last-second victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road in Week 7.

Here are the winners, losers and in-betweens from the game.

Giants-Ravens Week 6: Offense, defense and special teams snap counts

The New York Giants won their Week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens. Here are the snap counts on offense, defense and special teams.

For the second consecutive week, the New York Giants stormed back late in a game to stun a quality opponent. This time, they overcame a 10-point deficit to defeat the Baltimore Ravens, 24-20.

The win brings the Giants’ record to 5-1 and has many beginning to think playoffs. But for New York, they remain focused on the task at hand and a Week 7 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

There’s a lot to break down and a lot to go over but before we look ahead, let’s look back. Here are the snap counts that contributed to the Giants’ victory.

Offensive snaps: 65
Defensive snaps: 59
Special teams snaps: 26

Rookie wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson took just 15 snaps in his return, but that was the plan all along. Head coach Brian Daboll said Robinson was on a “pitch count” and they’ll look to get him a heavier workload moving forward.

Defensively, lineman Leonard Williams took nearly 100 percent of snaps in his return from a sprained MCL. That’s would seem to indicate the Giants are confident in his knee and his health.

Giants defeat Ravens: Winners, losers and those in between

The New York Giants rallied to upset the Ravens in Week 6, and here are our winners and losers (and those in between) from the game.

The New York Giants’ magic appeared to run out against the Baltimore Ravens at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, and then it suddenly returned.

Some late key penalties and miscues by Baltimore opened the door for the Giants to steal a 24-20 victory and improve to 5-1 on the season.

Here are some winners, losers and in-betweens from the game.

Giants’ Kadarius Toney among 5 ruled out vs. Ravens

The New York Giants have ruled five players out (and one doubtful) against the Baltimore Ravens, including WR Kadarius Toney.

The New York Giants were hoping to get several injured players back in Week 6 against the Baltimore Ravens, and it looks like they will. Unfortunately, it’s not going to be as many as they had desired.

Several of the walking wounded did return to practice this week and are expected to play. But on the other side of the spectrum, there were new injuries that cropped up and other players who will sit this one out.

Full injury reports for both the Giants and Ravens can be found below:

Giants injury report: Kadarius Toney, Kenny Golladay remain sidelined

New York Giants wide receivers Kadarius Toney and Kenny Golladay continue missing practice, while QB Tyrod Taylor returned on Thursday.

The New York Giants practiced indoors on Thursday due to the inclement weather in East Rutherford, and were once again saddled with a lengthy injury list.

On the positive end of the spectrum, quarterback Tyrod Taylor cleared concussion protocol and rejoined his teammates. And despite being limited for the second consecutive day, head coach Brian Daboll said he had no concerns about running back Saquon Barkley handling a full workload in Week 6.

Unfortunately for the Giants, not all news was good news. Wide receivers Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney continue to be sidelined by injury, and were joined by tight end Tanner Hudson.

The Giants’ Thursday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: WR Kenny Golladay (knee), CB Cor’Dale Flott (calf), WR Kadarius Toney (hamstring), DB Tony Jefferson (foot), DB Jason Pinnock (ankle), TE Tanner Hudson (illness), DL Jihad Ward (not injury related)

Limited participant: WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee), DL Leonard Williams (knee), LB Azeez Ojulari (calf), CB Adoree’ Jackson (knee/neck), RB Saquon Barkley (shoulder), CB Darnay Holmes (quad), TE Chris Myarick (ankle)

Full participant: P Jamie Gillan (not injury related), QB Tyrod Taylor (concussion)

Giants injury report: Kadarius Toney, Kenny Golladay don’t practice

The New York Giants returned to practice on Wednesday but remain without wide receivers Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney.

The New York Giants returned to the practice field on Wednesday following their stunning victory over the Green Bay Packers in Week 5.

However, they were noticeably shorthanded as the injury list continues to grow. Saquon Barkley, Adoree’ Jackson and Tony Jefferson were among the new additions, but all participated on at least a limited basis.

The same could not be said for wide receivers Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney, who remain sidelined with their respective injuries.

The Giants’ Wednesday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: WR Kenny Golladay (knee), CB Cor’Dale Flott (calf), WR Kadarius Toney (hamstring), P Jamie Gillan (not injury related), DB Tony Jefferson (foot), DB Jason Pinnock (ankle)

Giants’ Tyrod Taylor, Wan’Dale Robinson among 7 ruled out vs. Packers

The New York Giants ruled seven players out against the Green Bay Packers in Week 5, including QB Tyrod Taylor and three wide receivers.

The New York Giants visit the Green Bay Packers on Sunday in London and will do so down a number of players.

Earlier in the week, cornerback Aaron Robinson was placed on injured reserve (IR) and then on Friday, the team ruled out an additional seven players.

Among them is backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor (concussion), meaning Davis Webb will get activated from the practice squad.

On the plus side, safety Julian Love cleared concussion protocol and will play, and defensive lineman Leonard Williams inched closer to his return. However, he said he’d like a full practice before he steps back onto the field and was limited on Friday.

Note: Henry Mondeaux is on the team’s practice squad so it’s unclear why he’s being listed on the final injury report.

Giants injury report: Kadarius Toney sits, Julian Love returns

While the news on New York Giants QB Daniel Jones is positive, the same can not be said for WR Kadarius Toney who regressed in 24 hours.

The New York Giants took the practice field in East Rutherford for the final time before jetting off to London on Thursday. And once again, quarterback Daniel Jones was participating and looked good to go against the Green Bay Packers.

The same could not be said for wide receiver Kadarius Toney, however. One day after returning to practice, the 2021 first-round pick was sidelined with injury. He seems unlikely to play on Sunday.

On the plus side, safety Julian Love and wide receiver Richie James Jr. returned to practice.

The Giants’ Thursday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: WR Kenny Golladay (knee), QB Tyrod Taylor (concussion), CB Cor’Dale Flott (calf), LB Azeez Ojulari (calf), DL Henry Mondeaux (ankle), WR Kadarius Toney (hamstring)

Limited participant: QB Daniel Jones (ankle), WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee), DL Leonard Williams (knee), OL Evan Neal (neck), DB Fabian Moreau (foot), DB Nick McCloud (hamstring), S Julian Love (concussion), WR Richie James Jr. (ankle)
