Redshirt junior Kivon Bennett has been dismissed from Tennessee’s football team.
His dismissal comes after an arrest facing gun and drug charges after a traffic stop.
“Kivon Bennett has been dismissed from our football program following a traffic stop earlier today,” Vols’ head coach Jeremy Pruitt said in a statement. “There is a standard our student-athletes are expected to uphold at Tennessee, and today’s incident fell well short of that standard.”
Bennett appeared in seven games this season for Tennessee. He totaled 22 tackles, 7.5 for a loss, 4.5 sacks and fumble recovery in 2020.
The 6-foot-2, 245-pound linebacker has appeared in 28 game for the Vols since 2017.
