Every College Football Hall of Fame member from LSU

LSU has put 11 players and five coaches into the hall.

The National Football Foundation recently released the list of nominees for the 2023 College Football Hall of Fame induction class. One of the many players to crack the ballot — [autotag]Bradie James[/autotag] — is a former LSU linebacker.

James will look to become the 12th former Tigers player to be inducted in the hall. Currently, only 10 players have been inducted, but that will change in December when [autotag]Kevin Faulk[/autotag] joins as part of the 2022 class. LSU has also seen five coaches be selected for the Hall of Fame.

As we wait to find out if the list of LSU players in Atlanta will grow by one, here’s a rundown of every former Tigers player and coach currently in the Hall of Fame.glenn do

Who are the best running back duos in LSU history

In the history of the program, LSU has had its fair share of one-two punches at the tailback position.

Two good running backs are better than one.

In the history of the program, LSU has had its fair share of one-two punches at the tailback position. It’s been needed since running back is often a spot where the starter gets banged up.

The SEC was all about the ground game until about five years ago. You needed these running backs to win. In 2004, Auburn rode Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams to an undefeated season. The Alabama dynasty was built on having depth at running back.

Here are some of the best running back duos in the history of LSU football.

LSU Football history: The top 20 all-time leading rushers

Much of LSU’s history has been defined by dominant running backs. Here are the best of the bunch.

LSU has certainly staked a claim as “WRU” in recent years, as the Tigers have produced NFL stars Justin Jefferson, Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry.

However, for much of this program’s history, the bread-and-butter has been the run game. Many former Tigers players were very successful in that regard, such as [autotag]Kevin Faulk[/autotag], [autotag]Dalton Hilliard[/autotag] and [autotag]Leonard Fournette[/autotag].

With [autotag]Ty Davis-Price[/autotag] moving on to the NFL after this season, [autotag]John Emery Jr.[/autotag] makes his long-awaited return to the field and will look to be the next great player on that list.

Here is the current list of the top 20 leading rushers in the history of the LSU program.

Former LSU running back and assistant Kevin Faulk to be enshrined

It finally happened for Kevin Faulk.

It was announced on Monday that former LSU running back and former running backs coach Kevin Faulk would be enshrined in college football immortality. He was named to the 2022 College Football Hall of Fame class. Faulk spent the 1995-1998 seasons with the Tigers before moving on to the NFL.

During his freshman season in 1995, Faulk appeared in 10 games for the LSU Tigers. During that first campaign, he carried the ball 174 times for 852 yards and six touchdowns. Faulk was also used as a receiver out of the backfield where he added another touchdown. That year he averaged 5.2 yards per touch in the offense.

The next three seasons, he would go over the 1,000-yard mark as a rusher. Over his career, Faulk would average 5.3 yards per rush attempt and 11.3 yards per reception. To this day, he owns the school records for rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, and total touchdowns from scrimmage.

Faulk is definitely worthy of being in the Hall of Fame. While he never won a national championship with the Tigers he went on to the NFL where he won multiple Super Bowls with the New England Patriots. Faulk can add the CFB Hall of Fame to his resume that includes being enshrined in the Louisiana Hall of Fame, New England Patriots Hall of Fame, and the New England Patriots 50th anniversary team.

Faulk was a member of the coaching staff from 2018-2021. With the new hire of Brian Kelly, Faulk was replaced by former LSU assistant Frank Wilson.

The man who wore No. 3 is No. 1 in the hearts of LSU fans and the school’s record books.

LSU Morning Rush: SEC title game, Ed Orgeron, and Kevin Faulk’s future

Top stories of the day including the SEC title game, Ed Orgeron, and did a recruit give us the details on Kevin Faulk’s future?

On Championship Saturday the LSU Tigers will be watching from the couch like most of the teams across America. With the new hire of Brian Kelly from Notre Dame, the hope is that there aren’t too many more Championship Saturdays like this in the future. It is a tall task, but this team has proven they can climb that mountain. They just need to roll up the sleeves and get it done.

Instead, it will be the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs going to war in Atlanta, Georgia. This game has massive implications for the College Football Playoffs. If Georgia wins then the Crimson Tide are likely relegated to just a New Years Six bowl game. However, if Saban wins then both teams could meet in the CFP.

The action gets started in the mid-afternoon slot.

Brian Kelly’s LSU contract is reportedly $15 million per season

Not quite the $250 million…but at least he is keeping two key assistants. More to come.

The quote from Brian Kelly we heard was it would take $250 million to get him out of South Bend, Indiana. Well, it appears that Mrs. Kelly is perfectly fine with a little less than that.

The number being reported by Matt Fortuna and Brody Miller of The Athletic is 10 years and north of $100 million with incentives. At roughly a deal of $15 million per year gives him more than what Ed Orgeron made in 2021. Or any other coach for that matter.

With the contract talks out of the way, for the moment they can focus on other aspects.

The big moves that need to happen next involve the assistants. An early report from On3 states that running backs coach Kevin Faulk and defensive backs coach Corey Raymond will be retained on staff. The coordinators are just as important, if not more, but that is a good start. Both are excellent recruiters and key members of the staff.

At this point, Marcus Freeman might be a pipedream as many current players and recruits will likely push to keep him in South Bend. That will be the next topic to tackle in the coming days.

LSU to honor Kevione Faulk with a decal on their helmets

The LSU Tigers will take the field with heavy hearts and a special decal to honor Kevione Faulk.

While the LSU Tigers prepare to take the field on Saturday night in Death Valley, they do so with heavy hearts. Earlier this week it was announced through the LSU football Twitter account that daughter of running backs coach Kevin Faulk, Kevione passed away suddenly.

Friday would have been her 20th birthday. The Tigers are hoping to win this game for both Kevione and the Faulk family. She was a student at LSU and worked on the football staff. At this time Kevin has stepped away from football to be with his family after suffering such a tradgedy.

When the Tigers take the field they will do so with a special decal on their helmets honoring Kevione Faulk.

“Tonight we honor Kevione Faulk a day after what would have been her 20th birthday.

We continue to mourn the loss of a daughter, a sister, a friend, a classmate and a colleague”

The kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CDT at Tiger Stadium. All the action can be seen on the SEC Network.

Former Patriots RB Kevin Faulk intrigued by Mac Jones’ intelligence

Former Patriots running back Kevin Faulk had high praise for Mac Jones recently

As quarterback Mac Jones get set to embark on his first preseason as a member of the New England Patriots, positive reviews keep coming in. You can add Kevin Faulk to a growing list of those in Patriots circles with praise for the rookie.

With Faulk being a Patriots Hall of Famer and three-time Super Bowl champion, his words certainly carry weight when giving praise to incoming players.

He believes that Jones is an intelligent quarterback, and understands what he needs to do in order to make the offense successful. For a Patriots team looking to get back in the playoff picture, these qualities may prove to be important. Faulk took notice of some key traits from Jones’ days at Alabama.

“Very intelligent. Doesn’t make too many bad decisions. Understood what the offense was. Understood what he needed to do as the starting quarterback, and I think that will be the same way here,” Faulk said of Jones last week on a visit to Massachusetts for an autograph signing. “The situations are similar for him.”

In addition to that, he is also curious about what the quarterback will be able to bring to the offense.

“Very curious, because [Jones] can be very productive in this offense if he is who he is shown and proven to be in college — the one year he played,” Faulk said. “He hadn’t played much the previous years, but you could tell from last year that he paid attention.”

With Jones entering the 2021 season under the microscope, how he handles it all will be important

A look at the LSU Tigers all-time leading rushers in school history

Plenty of notable running backs have played at LSU, but which Tigers are among the best ever?

There have been plenty of notable running backs throughout the years to come through Baton Rouge, Lousiana. One of the more notable names in Louisiana State Tigers history didn’t have eye-popping numbers by today’s standards but he made his mark. Billy Cannon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, was named a two-time SEC Player of the Year, and won the Heisman Trophy in 1959. His No. 20 jersey was retired by the Tigers.

From Billy Cannon to Clyde Edwards-Helaire and everywhere in between, the Tigers have seen success in their running game. Notable names that went onto the NFL include Leonard Fournette, Derrius Guice, Kevin Faulk, Joseph Addi, and Jeremy Hill.

LSU Wire breaks down the all-time leading rushers in Tigers history:

The Tigers headed into the matchup with a 3-1 record, and would come out of it with a 7-6 victory and a 4-1 record.

Tigers quarterback Herb Tyler finished the game 9-of-18 passing for 53 yards and a touchdown, but was sacked four times. His lone touchdown pass came in the third quarter for the first score of the game.

Commodores quarterback Damien Allen passed for 143 yards with a touchdown and an interception on 11-of-24 completions.

The Tigers finished the 1997 season with a 9-3 record, including 6-2 in SEC play. They faced off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Independence Bowl and came out victorious with a 27-9 win.
