Boom! Five-star, class of 2025 recruit Journey Houston announced her commitment to the Iowa Hawkeyes. Social media reacted to the big news.

One of the nation’s elite prospects is staying home to don the black and gold.

Five-star guard Journey Houston announced her commitment to the Iowa Hawkeyes‘ women’s basketball program on Tuesday night.

The 5-foot-11 guard out of Davenport North High School chose the Hawkeyes over offers from Iowa State, Michigan, DePaul.

“I’d like to thank all of the coaches that have recruited me the past three years and thank you to my parents and all of my @AllIowaAttack coaches for helping me get to where I am today! I am excited to announce my commitment to the University of Iowa,” Houston wrote on social media.

The All-Iowa Attack pipeline to Iowa City continues to be strong. Headlined by superstar and national player of the year Caitlin Clark, the Hawkeyes’ Final Four squad featured seven players from the Nike EYBL squad.

Houston averaged a double-double during her freshman season with Davenport North, pouring in 20.9 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. She averaged 18.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game this past season while directing Davenport North to the Class 5A Iowa state tournament and a 21-3 record.

Let’s take a look at what the elite commit brings to the table for the Hawkeyes, some of her highlights and what the sports world had to say about her commitment.
