Slowly but surely, the UFC 279 lineup is filling out.

[autotag]Jamie Pickett[/autotag] vs. [autotag]Denis Tiuliulin[/autotag], a matchup originally scheduled for July 9, has been added to the event scheduled for Sept. 10 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, MMA Junkie has learned.

Two people with knowledge of the booking recently informed MMA Junkie of the matchup but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion is yet to make an official announcement.

The bout was moved after Tiuliulin suffered an injury the week of the original fight.

Pickett (13-7 MMA, 2-3 UFC) looks to get back in the win column after a first-round submission loss to Kyle Daukaus in February. The defeat snapped a two-fight winning streak for Pickett, which included victories over Laureano Staropoli and Joseph Holmes.

  • Khamzat Chimaev vs. Nate Diaz
  • Shamil Abdurakhimov vs. Jailton Almeida

Abdul Razak Alhassan to meet Jamie Pickett at UFC Fight Night on July 9

An exciting middleweight matchup has been added to UFC Fight Night on July 9.

A middleweight matchup that is sure to produce fireworks is heading to an upcoming UFC Fight Night event.

Two powerful middleweights, [autotag]Jamie Pickett[/autotag] and [autotag]Abdul Razak Alhassan[/autotag] will face each other on July 9. People with knowledge of the matchup have confirmed the booking MMA Junkie, although the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. The event does not yet have a confirmed location or venue. Both 36-year-old fighters will be looking to get back into the win column.

Alhassan (11-5 MMA, 5-5 UFC) will enter on the heels of a split decision loss to Joaquin Buckley in February. Prior to the close setback, Alhassan picked up a Performance of the Night bonus for his devastating 17-second finish of Alessio Di Chirico at UFC on ESPN 30.

UFC Fight Night 201 video: Kyle Daukaus taps Jamie Pickett at the first-round horn

Kyle Daukaus submitted Jamie Pickett with a fraction of a second remaining in the UFC Fight Night 201 co-main event.

[autotag]Jamie Pickett[/autotag] needed to hold on for a fraction of a second for his UFC Fight Night 201 co-main event with [autotag]Kyle Daukaus[/autotag] to make it beyond the first round. But he couldn’t do it.

Caught in a D’Arce choke by Daukaus (11-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) in the closing moments of the 195-pound catchweight fight at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Pickett (13-7 MMA, 2-3 UFC) made the stunning decision to tap out just as the horn was sounding to mark the end of the round.

It was a surprising end to the fight, but not a shocking result. Daukaus was dominating the action up until the point of the submission, and it just made his night easier.

Check out the replay of the finish below (via Twitter):

Coming off a disappointing no contest with Kevin Holland in a fight he was winning, Daukaus officially rejoined the win column, and did so with his signature technique.

“There was 10 seconds left and I felt him tap before the round break,” Daukaus said in his post-fight interview with Paul Felder. “My new nickname is ‘The D’Arce Knight.'”

UFC Vegas 48: Kyle Daukaus vs. Jamie Pickett odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Vegas 48 odds and lines between Kyle Daukaus vs. Jamie Pickett, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a catch weight fight on the main card, Kyle Daukaus and Jamie Pickett meet Saturday at UFC Vegas 48 – also known as UFC Fight Night 201 – at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Below, we analyze the UFC Vegas 48: Daukaus vs. Pickett odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The card can be viewed on ESPN+ with the prelims starting at 4 p.m. ET and the main card at 7 p.m.

Daukaus is coming off a no-contest against Kevin Holland last time out at UFC Fight Night 193 in Oct. Daukaus appeared to win via submission against Holland, but after further review, an accidental headbutt left Holland in disarray, and the victory was overturned.

The pair were expected to met in November, but Holland tapped out of that due to injury. Roman Dolidze was expected to fight in place of Holland, but he then pulled out, too.

Daukaus was expected to face Julian Marquez, but the latter pulled out due to an undisclosed reason, so Pickett steps in on short notice.

Pickett, a.k.a. “The Night Wolf”, has posted a pair of unanimous-decision wins against Laureano Staropoli and Joseph Holmes, but a fight against Daukaus, particularly on short notice, is a huge step up in competition.

UFC Vegas 48 Daukaus vs. Pickett: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Daukaus (10-2-0) | Pickett (13-6-0)

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

Daukaus (-300) is a heavy favorite, costing you three times your potential return against Pickett. While Daukaus looks like a slam-dunk winner, it’s still just too risky for such a small return.

Instead, look to Method of Victory. While Daukaus has yet to tap an opponent at the UFC level, finishing with three unanimous decisions (2-1) and a no-contest, he showed what he can do against Holland. The southpaw likes to go to the canvas, and Pickett is susceptible to the submission, and is likely to be ill-prepared after just learning of his opponent within the past 10 days.

Take DAUKAUS BY SUBMISSION (+245) on the Method of Victory wager for the best bet.

Over/Under (O/U)

Play NO (-110): FIGHT TO GO THE DISTANCE for the win, with the submission expected.

In addition, it might take a little time for Daukaus to get the job done. Play a two-round block with DAUKAUS TO WIN IN ROUND 2 (+570) and DAUKAUS TO WIN IN ROUND 3 (+950). If he gets the job done in Rounds 2-3, yes, you will lose one of the ends. However, you will also be quite a bit ahead leading into the main event.

Jamie Pickett replaces Julian Marquez, takes on Kyle Daukaus at UFC Fight Night 201

UFC middleweight Kyle Daukaus gets a replacement opponent for UFC Fight Night 201 on Feb. 19.

[autotag]Kyle Daukaus[/autotag] didn’t stay without a fight for very long.

The UFC middleweight recently lost his opponent, Julian Marquez, for UFC Fight Night 201 on Feb. 19 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. And shortly after it was reported, the promotion was able to find a replacement for Daukaus (10-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) in [autotag]Jamie Pickett[/autotag], according to two people with knowledge of the booking. The people requested anonymity since the promotion hasn’t made an announcement.

Daukaus, a former CFFC middleweight champion, is coming off a no contest against Kevin Holland this past October. Originally a submission win for Daukaus, the decision was overturned after replays revealed an accidental clash of heads knocked Holland unconscious and led to the fight-ending sequence.

[lawrence-related id=2515347]

Daukaus was supposed to fight Holland in a rematch at UFC Fight Night 197 this past November, but Holland had to pull out with an injury. Then replacement Roman Dolidze was pulled due to COVID-19 protocols.

Meanwhile, Pickett (13-6 MMA, 2-2 UFC) is looking to notch his third consecutive victory in the promotion. After an 0-2 start in the UFC following his contract win at Dana White’s Contender Series, Pickett bounced back with wins over Laureano Staropoli and most recently Joseph Holmes.

With the addition, the UFC Fight Night 201 lineup now includes:

  • Rafael dos Anjos vs. Rafael Fiziev
  • Jamahal Hill vs. Johnny Walker
  • Jessica-Rose Clark vs. Stephanie Egger
  • Chad Anheliger vs. Jesse Strader
  • Chas Skelly vs. Mark Striegl
  • Diana Belbita vs. Gloria de Paula
  • Kyle Daukaus vs. Jamie Pickett
  • Abdul Razak Alhassan vs. Joaquin Buckley
  • Jim Miller vs. Nikolas Motta
  • Jonathan Pearce vs. TBA
  • Mario Bautista vs. TBA
  • Alan Baudot vs. Parker Porter
  • Gabriel Benitez vs. David Onama
