Isaiah Wilson is taking his talents to South Beach

Former Georgia football OL Isaiah Wilson has been traded by the Tennessee Titans to the Miami Dolphins after just one season in Nashville.

Former Georgia offensive lineman Isaiah Wilson had his fair share of off-field incidents occur during his rookie season in the NFL. The once Georgia football star was drafted 29th overall by the Tennessee Titans in last year’s NFL Draft, but only played three snaps during his time in Nashville.

Wilson, along with a 2022 seventh-round pick, has been traded to the Miami Dolphins for a 2021 seventh-round pick, per Ian Rapoport.

Wilson nearly jumped off of a two-story balcony to avoid police at a Tennessee State University party this past August. A few weeks after, Wilson was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list for his second time and crashed his car into a concrete wall just days later, receiving a DUI in the process.

In late October, Wilson was involved in another car accident, totaling his vehicle in the wreck. On December 5th he was suspended by the Titans for violating team rules and was then placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Illness list.  He was caught partying on a boat on New Years Eve leading up to a big Week 17 matchup against the Texans.  Wilson then posted a drug disclaimer on his Instagram account and later Tweeted: “Im done with football as a Titan… No further comments.”

Wilson’s Tweet became a reality as Titans fans will forever look at Wilson as a bust of a first-round pick. The good news is Wilson is still young and has time to learn from his mistakes and get his act together in Miami for new head coach Brian Flores, who happened to attend Wilson’s alma mater of Brooklyn Poly Prep Country Day School.

Report: Tennessee Titans shopping 2020 first-round pick, former UGA OT Isaiah Wilson

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly shopping their 2020 first-round pick Isaiah Wilson. Details here.

Just a few days after Tennessee Titans tackle Isaiah Wilson tweeted that he was done with football as a Titan, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the team is shopping their 2020 first-round pick.

The No. 29 overall pick was put on the COVID-19 list twice during his rookie season, once during training camp and another time in October. He saw the field for four snaps before being added to the team’s non-football injury list in December.

And to add to the mishaps, Wilson was given a trespass warning when Tennessee State University police broke up an off-campus party during training camp and in September, he was arrested and charged with a DUI after running his car into a wall.

Titans general manager Jon Robinson spoke on Wilson’s status in a press conference earlier this month and said that the team had not been on contact with Wilson since he was placed on the team’s non-football injury list in December.

Via Jim Wyatt of the Titans’ website. “He’s going to have to make a determination on whether he wants to do what it takes to play pro football. That will be on him,” Robinson said.

Wilson, a Brookyln, N.Y., native and former 5-star recruit, played 25 games for the Bulldogs and earned AP ALL-SEC second team honors in 2019.

He never had behavioral issues during his time in Athens that we are aware of, so the bad relationship here with the Titans is perplexing.

Former Georgia OT, NFL first round pick Isaiah Wilson says ‘I’m done with football’ in a tweet that has since been deleted

Former Georgia Bulldog Isaiah Wilson, now a Tennessee Titan, may be done with the NFL after just one season. Details here.

Former Georgia Bulldog Isaiah Wilson’s short NFL career has been a whirlwind of off-the-field mishaps.

The No. 29 overall pick was drafted in 2020 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans and in his first season, the Brooklyn, N.Y., native was put on the COVID-19 list twice, once during training camp and another time in October, and only saw the field for four snaps before being added to the team’s non-football injury list in December.

The rookie right tackle also had two run-ins with the law in his first NFL season. Wilson was given a trespass warning when Tennessee State University police broke up an off-campus party during training camp and in September, he was arrested and charged with a DUI after running his car into a wall.

Wilson sent this tweet on Monday.

The tweet was quickly deleted, but all signs point towards Wilson not returning as a Titan.

At Georgia, Wilson was all game and one of the top tackles in the SEC before heading to Nashville last year.

He played 25 games for the Bulldogs and earned AP ALL-SEC second team honors in 2019.

It’s hard to put a finger on what exactly is going on between the team and Wilson, but Titans general manager Jon Robinson addressed his status during a team press conference on Tuesday and said he had not spoke with Wilson.

The Titans signed Wilson to a four-year, $11.6 million contract in August.

Isaiah Wilson signs life-changing contract with Titans

Tennessee Titans and former Georgia Bulldog OT Isaiah Wilson was removed from the Reserve/COVID-19 list and signed his rookie contact.

Tennessee Titans and former Georgia Bulldog offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson likely had one of the best days of his life. Wilson was removed from the Reserve/COVID-19 list and signed his rookie contract.

Wilson is the NFL’s final first round 2020 NFL Draft pick to be signed according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Wilson has signed a four-year $11.6M rookie contact that includes a team option following the fourth year of the deal.

The Tennessee Titans drafted Wilson with the 29th pick of the NFL Draft to help improve their offensive front. Now, he’s ready for training camp and the preparation for start of the season.

Both Wilson and Andrew Thomas were selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. It’s an impressive accomplishment for the offensive tackle duo.

Wilson will have the enviable task of blocking for superstar running back Derrick Henry this season. He’s in a great situation in Nashville and should thrive for the Titans.

UGA football NFL player comparisons ahead of 2020 Draft

We examine UGA NFL comparisons for D’Andre Swift, JR Reed, Jake Fromm, Isaiah Wilson, Andrew Thomas, Solomon Kindley, and Lawrence Cager.

The Georgia Bulldogs are expected to have anywhere from six to ten players selected in the 2020 NFL Draft. But what NFL players are elite UGA prospects being compared to?

Georgia Bulldog quarterback Jake Fromm is anticipated to be one of the top quarterbacks selected. Where he falls among the best prospects is up for debate.

Jake Fromm’s player comparison is current Washington Redskin’s quarterback Colt McCoy. McCoy doesn’t have elite physical talent, but is a solid player who has been in the NFL for ten seasons. PFF compares Fromm to another similar NFL player.

McCoy has been a back-up for much of his career, which is an indication of what NFL.com thinks of Jake Fromm. Fromm, like McCoy, had a distinguished career at a major college.

McCoy, who was a star for the Texas Longhorns, has thrown for 29 touchdowns and 27 interceptions across 28 career NFL starts. He has over 6,000 career passing yards. McCoy was a third round pick in 2010.

Two Bulldogs go in first round of NFL mock draft

Two Georgia Bulldogs are drafted in the first round of a 2020 NFL Mock Draft. Andrew Thomas ends up in Tampa. Isaiah Wilson is a 49er.

Two Georgia Bulldogs went in Bleacher Report’s first round NFL mock draft. The first round of the 2020 NFL Draft starts Thursday, April 23rd at 8:00 PM. The NFL Draft is anticipated to last until around midnight.

B/R has Georgia’s Andrew Thomas and Isaiah Wilson as first round picks.

Andrew Thomas lands with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he’s projected to block for former New England Patriots QB Tom Brady. Thomas is the fourth offensive tackle drafted in this mock. The 14th overall pick is too high for Thomas to still be on the board. He should be gone before then based on his on-field production, his consistency, and his well-defined technique.

Isaiah Wilson ends up as the sixth tackle drafted. He lands with the San Francisco 49ers at the 31st pick of the first round. Wilson has received recent buzz as a first round pick. The 49ers have a lot of talent and would be an excellent fit for Wilson. Their effective rushing attack helped them coast through the NFC to the Super Bowl last season.

Surprisingly, D’Andre Swift doesn’t go in the first round of this mock draft. LSU’s Clyde Edwards-Helaire is the only running back selected in the first round, but he barely sneaks into the first as 32nd pick (Kansas City Chiefs).

PFF: Isaiah Wilson going in first round “absurd”

There’s been recent buzz of Georgia Bulldog right tackle Isaiah Wilson going in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. PFF doesn’t think so.

Ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft there’s been recent buzz of Georgia Bulldog right tackle Isaiah Wilson going in the first round. Wilson, who is from Brooklyn, was a two year starter at Georgia. He started in 24 games over the last two seasons for the Dawgs.

He has excellent size (6-6, 350 pounds) and lots of experience against elite competition in the SEC. That didn’t stop Pro Football Focus from bashing his chances at going in the first round:

PFF emphasizes Wilson’s slow 3-cone and short shuttle times at the NFL Combine as reasons why he won’t be picked in the first round. No tackle with similar times has gone in the first round in the last twenty seasons. They additionally express concerns over his pass-blocking ability.

Some NFL teams don’t value the combine as much now. Wilson’s mobility will be questioned at his massive size, but smart NFL general managers will care more about his film than any cone or shuttle drill he ran at the combine.

Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl offensive tackle Orlando Brown is a prime example of an overlooked prospect (third round pick) with massive size and poor NFL Combine testing. When GMs look at Isaiah Wilson’s tape they’ll see a right tackle that was a key piece in UGA’s dominant offensive line (15 sacks allowed — 5th lowest in FBS). Wilson will continue to improve his technique in the NFL. He may be a first round pick, but NFL Draft rumors aren’t always true.

What have we learned from Georgia football alumni at the NFL Combine?

In which we compile all of this week’s posts pertaining to former Bulldogs at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine

For those who can’t focus the ideal amount of attention to Georgia football news, I’ll compile some of this week’s posts pertaining to former Bulldogs at the NFL Scouting Combine:

Brian Herrien provides a recollection of Nick Chubb’s encouragement.

Both of Georgia’s invited tailbacks were faster than Florida’s only invited tailback.

D’Andre Swift proved speedier than his two most famous former teammates.

J.R. Reed can do it all.

Charlie Woerner is a man among boys.

In other news:

The basketball Bulldogs stuck out a nervous victory over Arkansas sealed by an Anthony Edwards dunk.

The baseball Bulldogs embarrassed Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Fewer than twenty hours prior, Scott Stricklin’s Bulldogs edged out the Yellow Jackets by a score of six to five.

Georgia football’s Isaiah Wilson receives NFL player comparison

Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Isaiah Wilson is projected to be selected in the first few rounds of the NFL Draft.

Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Isaiah Wilson may have surprised some with his decision to declare for the 2020 NFL Draft, but he’s expected to be one of the top tackles selected. Wilson has excellent size and played right tackle at UGA.

Wilson is a rare NFL quality player out of Brooklyn, New York. He started 24 games during his time in Athens.

NFL.com has compared Wilson to former Minnesota Vikings tackle Phil Loadholt.

Wilson, who is compared to Loadholt, is projected as a late second round or early third round pick according to his ‘big board’ ranking. Wilson will look to dominate in the NFL with his size and quickness.

So who is Phil Loadholt? Mostly die-hard football fans or Minnesota Vikings fans have heard of him.

Loadholt was a second round pick for the Vikings out of Oklahoma. He saw immediate playing time as a rookie and helped block for some of Adrian Peterson’s best seasons. Loadholt played six NFL seasons before tearing his Achilles before the 2015 season. In 2016, Loadholt elected to retire, but he had an extremely promising career before then.

Hopefully Georgia’s Isaiah Wilson will have better injury luck than Loadholt. Not a shabby NFL comparison by any means.

Watch: UGA OT Isaiah Wilson played wildcat QB in high school

Georgia Bulldogs right tackle Isaiah Wilson has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft.

vv. Wilson missed the Sugar Bowl, but put together a solid career at UGA. According to an NFL Draft Big Board, Wilson is expected to be drafted within the first two rounds.

Now, let’s look back at Wilson’s high school days. Wilson was quite the athlete at Brooklyn’s Poly Prep Country Day, where he played football, lacrosse, and wrestled. This video shows Wilson, who is 6-7 and weighs 340 pounds. was a load to tackle for these poor high school players.

Video is per Dane Brugler of The Athletic:

It would’ve been fun if Isaiah Wilson got some Wildcat snaps at UGA. The Dawgs were better off with him paving the way.

Georgia fans shouldn’t give up hope of Wilson running a Wildcat play in the NFL. Current Carolina Panthers defensive lineman Dontari Poe threw a memorable touchdown pass when he played for the Kansas City Chiefs.
