Jaguars injury roundup after loss to San Francisco

The Jags had to deal with a number of injuries in Sunday’s 30-10 loss to the 49ers.

Jacksonville’s 30-10 loss to San Francisco on Sunday added insult to injury — in the most literal sense. The team was facing a barrage of injuries on both sides of the ball that made a comeback against the 49ers an untenable prospect.

The secondary was the most impacted. The unit was already playing shorthanded with the loss of Rayshawn Jenkins, who was ejected, and it then lost both of its starting corners in Shaquill Griffin and Tyson Campbell. Griffin was ruled out with a concussion, while Campbell was deemed questionable to return with a shoulder injury, per the Jaguars PR Twitter account, though he didn’t come back in.

With the pair out, the Jags turned to Nevin Lawson and Chris Claybrooks, who held their own, all things considered, but with Tre Herndon already inactive, Jacksonville’s depth in the defensive backfield was pushed to the limit. With Jenkins out, Daniel Thomas and rookie Andre Cisco saw safety reps, but Cisco also exited near the end of the game with a groin injury.

Those weren’t the only injury issues, though. The team suffered a pair of costly offensive injuries as well, as offensive tackle Cam Robinson was listed as questionable to return with a knee injury, while receiver Jamal Agnew carried the same designation after leaving with a hip injury. Neither returned, with rookie Walker Little, who started in Robinson’s place against Buffalo, entering at left tackle. Meanwhile, Laquon Treadwell and Tavon Austin picked up the slack at receiver, notching one catch apiece.

John Brown, who was elevated to the active roster from the practice squad before the game, was targeted once but didn’t make a catch.

This is already a Jags team with a lot of holes, and it doesn’t take many injuries for certain positions to be in dire straits. The Jags will hope that these injuries, which all carried “questionable” designations (except Griffin, who now enters concussion protocol), will not prove to affect the team in the weeks to come.

Cowboys vs Chiefs: Final Week 11 injury report

Amari Cooper placed on COVID list, the latest on Tyron Smith’s availability, and more in the final injury report for Dallas vs Kansas City. | From @AsaHenry_55

The Dallas Cowboys travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs in one of Week 11’s most highly anticipated matchups. Each club released their final injury report’s after practice Friday, and both teams have important players that have already been ruled out or are listed as questionable to suit up Sunday.

Amari Cooper was placed on the Reserve/COVID list late this week, and the star wide receiver is set to miss the matchup with Kansas City, as well as the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving game against his former team, the Raiders. A noticeable loss for Dallas ahead of what should be a high-scoring affair, Cooper’s snaps will be allotted to Michael Gallup, who returned from a calf strain a week ago, and the trio of Cedrick Wilson, Noah Brown and Malik Turner, who all showed their abilities during Gallup’s eight week absence.

Left tackle Tyron Smith is listed as questionable with an ankle injury that has kept him out since Week 8. Head coach Mike McCarthy told the media this week, “We’re hopeful he (Smith) can go on Sunday.

Should Smith return to action, Dallas would have their starting tackles for the first time since the opening week as La’el Collins has reclaimed his right tackle spot following his suspension. However a report from early Sunday morning indicates Smith will not give it a go.

With Connor McGovern getting the nod at left guard over Connor Williams, many believe the Cowboys could be playing their five best offensive lineman for the first time all season.

Kicker Greg Zuerlein practiced in full after being activated from the COVID/Reserve list. Lirim Hajrullahu handled the kicking duties during the Cowboys Week 10 blowout win.

Two rookie cornerbacks were noted on the injury report. Kelvin Joseph (non-injury related) has been downgraded to out, and will not travel with the team, and Nahshon Wright (hamstring) was limited in practice and is questionable.

To add depth to the secondary and special teams the Cowboys’ elevated two players from the practice squad, CB Kron Brown as a standard weekly call up and CB Deonte Burton as a COVID replacement.

Dallas is still without defensive ends DeMarcus Lawrence (foot) and Randy Gregory (calf). Lawrence is due back in the next few weeks to a return after missing the last eight games with a broken foot. Gregory strained his calf in practice and the earliest he could return is Week 13. Tarell Basham, Dorance Armstrong, and Chauncey Golston will continue to fill in the majority of the vacated snaps.

The Chiefs injury report features three players whose status is up and the air, and one player that has already been ruled out.

Starting right tackle Lucas Niang (ribs) is out, which should help mitigate the fact that Dallas is without two top pass rushers.

Starting cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (knee) is questionable, as is backup safety Armani Watts (illness).

Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire was activated from the injured reserve on Saturday, and is questionable, although he was able to get in some full practices during the week.

Report: Jags RB James Robinson expected to play vs. 49ers

The Jags are expected to have their top offensive weapon against the Niners, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ offense will be looking for a spark Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, and in the process of finding it, they should at least have their best weapon.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, running back James Robinson is expected to play Sunday after surfacing on the final injury report as questionable with heel and knee injuries. The news comes as he was able to practice as a limited participant Friday, though it doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll start (like last week).

Robinson has been dealing with his heel injury since Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks after he was pushed out of bounds and took an awkward step as a result of trying to stop his momentum. As for the knee injury, it was one he sustained last week against Indianapolis, though he wasn’t taken out of the game.

While he only had 12 carries for 57 yards, Robinson was one of the Jags’ biggest sources of offense last week. He averaged 4.75 yards in the process and also was able to find the end zone in the second half.

This week, Robinson will be up against a tough Niners defense that ranks eighth overall. However, his impact could still be significant as they are 22nd against the rush.

Christian Veilleux replaces injured Sean Clifford at QB vs. Rutgers

BREAKING: Sean Clifford leaves game vs. Rutgers with apparent arm injury, Christian Veilleux in at QB

Penn State’s offense got off to a sluggish start in the first quarter against Rutgers, and the health of quarterback Sean Clifford has been thrown back in the spotlight. Clifford was spotted leaving the field and heading to the Penn State locker room late in the first quarter after getting banged up by the Rutgers defense.

Clifford headed to the Penn State locker room with 3:06 remaining in the first quarter. At the time he left the field, Clifford had completed two of eight pass attempts for a total of 23 yards. Clifford was also credited with four rushing yards on two attempts, but he was tripped up on his last attempt before getting attended to on the sideline.

Clifford appeared to be clutching his arm as he walked off the field. Freshman Christian Veilleux took the field to lead the Penn State offense in Clifford’s absence.

We’ll monitor the situation as the game continues and update this post as necessary.

Breaking down the final Saints injury report for Week 11 vs. Eagles

Breaking down the final Saints injury report for Week 11 vs. Eagles

The New Orleans Saints aren’t in great shape going into this week’s game with the Philadelphia Eagles, especially on offense. A dozen players who took snaps on offense in last year’s Eagles game won’t be available between injuries and offseason moves, and that number could climb even higher if some of their teammates aren’t able to get the green light while managing their own injuries.

Here’s what we know from Friday’s final injury report:

Final word on LSU-ULM: Tigers injury update

A look at the injury report for LSU

One final look at the LSU Tigers ahead of their primetime game against the ULM Warhawks.

The good news for LSU is that Ed Ingram and Sage Ryan return to the field for the team. Sage Ryan allows Dwight McGlothern and Cordale Flott to man the outside cornerback spots. Ryan will handle all of the nickelback role. Ingram returns to the offensive line at guard. That will help them protect their lone scholarship quarterback.

The offense will be without a handful of impactful players. Cam Wire went down with an injury against Arkansas last week and is done for the year. The team will also be without three of their five running backs. Against ULM the team should be just fine with just Ty Davis-Price and Corey Kiner. Next week they will likely need more than just two.

  • Cam Wire, Left Tackle (done for the season)
  • Josh Williams, Running Back (out)
  • Tre Bradford, Running Back (out)
  • Armoni Goodwin, Running Back (out)

Saints without 12 of 19 players who took a snap on offense in last year’s Eagles game

This Saints team looks awful different from what the Eagles saw last year. They’re without 12 of the 19 players who took a snap on offense in Philadelphia:

[sendtonews_embed video_id=”qfrRahX0Su-1632138-7498″]

Injuries have taken a toll on the New Orleans saints this season and few teams had more departures amid the summer salary cap crunch, but it’s still surprising to see so many holes on their roster. It’s almost sobering to look at the depth chart from last year’s game with the Philadelphia Eagles and see so few players remaining for Sunday’s rematch, particularly on offense.

The Saints are without four of last season’s top six offensive linemen, their two best wide receivers, both co-starters at tight end, and their top two running backs, with a different fullback in the mix. And if Taysom Hill can’t play the total rises to 13 players missing from the squad that played Philadelphia last season. Here’s a breakdown by each unit:

Final injury report for Washington vs. Panthers, Week 11

The final injury report for Week 11 is in. It features some good news for Washington.

The final injury report for Week 11 is out, and it contains some good news for the Washington Football Team. Washington, which travels to Charlotte to face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, has two players ruled out.

The two players ruled out may surprise you because neither is wide receiver Curtis Samuel. For the first time in weeks, Samuel participated in practice on Friday. Sure, he was limited, but it was a positive development for Washington, which has been waiting all season for Samuel’s groin injury to sufficiently heal.

Washington ruled out tight end Ricky Seals-Jones and defensive end Shaka Toney. Seals-Jones is Washington’s starter at tight end with Logan Thomas on injured reserve. That leaves rookie John Bates as the starter at tight end, with fellow first-year TE Sammis Reyes as the top backup.

Toney was added to the injury list on Friday with a concussion. Washington already has depth issues at defensive end with Montez Sweat and Chase Young out. Toney’s fellow rookie DE, William Bradley-King, could be elevated to the active roster on Saturday.

Rookie RT Sam Cosmi was a full participant Friday and finally returns to the starting lineup after missing several weeks with an ankle injury. RG Brandon Scherff is questionable with a knee injury.

WR Terry McLaurin and RB Antonio Gibson will play on Sunday, while cornerbacks Benjamin St-Juste and Kendall Fuller are questionable.

Colts vs. Bills: Final injury report for Week 11

The Indianapolis Colts (5-5) and Buffalo Bills (6-3) released their final injury reports included with designations on Friday ahead of the Week 11 matchup at Highmark Stadium.

The Colts didn’t have any players ruled out on their final injury report and only one player listed as questionable.

  • CB Xavier Rhodes will make his return after missing Week 10 due to a calf injury that’s hindered him for roughly a month now. He could be on a limited snap count if he does play.
  • This is one of the healthiest injury reports the Colts have seen this season.

Here’s a look at the final injury report for the Bills in Week 10:

Jaguars final Week 11 injury report: RB James Robinson listed as questionable, LB Dakota Allen ruled OUT

#Jaguars RB James Robinson has been ruled questionable for the second consecutive week.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had two players surface in the status column of the final injury report for their Weak 11 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Those players were running back James Robinson (heel/knee) and linebacker Dakota Allen (shoulder).

Robinson who was limited on Thursday and Friday, was ruled questionable and Jags coach Urban Meyer told the media that he would be day-to-day heading into the game as he was last week. Robinson has been dealing with a heel injury since taking the field against Seattle Week 8, but the knee injury is one he sustained this past Sunday against Indianapolis, though it didn’t take him out of the game.

Allen also was limited on Thursday and Friday. Additionally, he sustained his injury against the Colts just as Robinson did and was ruled questionable to return as a result.

As for the Niners, two of their top running backs surfaced on the injury report. Those players were Elijah Mitchell (rib, finger) and JaMychal Hasty (ankle). The latter was rued out while the former is doubtful, which means the Niners will now turn to Jeff Wilson Jr. and rookie Trey Sermon to hold it down in the backfield.

49ers defensive lineman Maurice Hurst was also ruled out for Sunday’s game, which will leave them without a veteran depth piece on the defensive line.
