Broncos now have 7 players on injured reserve or PUP list

Going into Week 8, the Broncos have 5 players on injured reserve and 2 players on the reserve/physically unable to perform list.

After activating three players from injured reserve last week, the Denver Broncos still have seven players on IR or physically unable to perform lists going into week 8. Five of those players will be eligible to return later this season.

Broncos running back Tyler Badie (back) will be eligible to return in Week 9, and center Luke Wattenberg (ankle) and wide receiver Josh Reynolds (hand) can return in Week 10.

Denver linebacker Drew Sanders (Achilles) and safety Delarrin Turner-Yell (ACL) have been eligible to return from the PUP list since Week 5, but they apparently still need more time to recover.

Chiefs vs 49ers injury report: Latest updates, news for Week 7

All the latest updates and news on the Chiefs’ injury report ahead of a Week 7 game vs. the 49ers.

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to take on the San Francisco 49ers in a Week 7 Super Bowl LVIII rematch at Levi’s Stadium. Kansas City has won four of its last five meetings against San Francisco, but the Chiefs will need to avoid a slow start out West to avoid a loss after their bye in Week 6.

Though both teams have dealt with significant injuries this season, the 49ers have far more players who are on the mend heading into Sunday’s game.

Well-meaning Saints fans fall victim to open tryouts hoax

Don’t believe everything you read online. Some well-intentioned New Orleans Saints fans fell victim to an open tryouts hoax on Saturday:

Come on, people. According to New Orleans Saints linebacker Willie Gay Jr., multiple fans arrived at the team practice facility on Saturday looking to try out after falling victim to a hoax. Fake announcements spread around social media this week calling for fans to participate in public tryouts after a wave of injuries hit the team.

Unfortunately, we live in a time where it’s all too easy to fool people. Between the proliferation of social media and computer-generated imagery we’re seeing more scams pop up every day online, though in this case all it took was a bad actor who copied the Saints’ letterhead.

While the announcement falsely claimed that 40% of the roster was injured, necessitating these fictitious open tryouts, that isn’t too far off the mark. Of the 53 players on the active roster right now just 20 have not been listed on the injury report through the first seven weeks. The team’s training staff have struggled with injury prevention and things must change if they’re going to snap this five-game losing streak. Just don’t count on any local long-shots getting signed off the street.

15 players listed on 49ers injury report ahead of Week 7 matchup vs. Chiefs

The #49ers had 15 players listed on their final injury report ahead of San Francisco’s Week 7 Super Bowl LVIII rematch against the #Chiefs.

Things are looking grim for the San Francisco 49ers ahead of their Week 7 Super Bowl LVIII rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs on October 20.

The Chiefs are undefeated in the regular season heading into Sunday’s game, while the 3-3 49ers desperately need a win to try to get their 2024 campaign back on track.

Injuries are a major concern for San Francisco, and with a deluge of players dealing with different ailments, the 49ers are set to be at a major disadvantage against Kansas City on Sunday.

Chiefs senior team reporter Matt McMullen shared the injury report for both squads on Twitter.

Take a look at the 15 players that are currently on the mend in San Francisco:

Though only three players are listed out for the Super Bowl LVIII rematch, three others are questionable, leaving nine injured 49ers who will have to play through some pain.

Watch for developments as more reports are released leading up to game day.

Alvin Kamara won’t use injuries as an excuse for Saints’ losing streak

It may be easy to point to the Saints’ injuries as the reason for their five-game losing streak, but Alvin Kamara sees deeper issues at work:

The New Orleans Saints have to be one of the most injured teams in the NFL, but Alvin Kamara doesn’t believe getting healthy instantly turns this team around.

Chris Olave missed this game with a concussion and Rashid Shaheed is out for the season. The entire interior offensive line is out. The departure of Erik McCoy coincided with the speedy downfall of the offense. On top of everything, Derek Carr is also out for a few weeks due to injury, leaving rookie Spencer Rattler to lead the charge.

The defense is starting to get hit to with Paulson Adebo’s season-ending injury and Pete Werner’s prolonged absence.

It would be easy to blame injuries for the losing streak, but Kamara won’t do it. He sees multiple factors outside of health that contribute to the downward spiral.

“I think getting healthy makes us feel better,” Kamara began. “I don’t think it’s going to be the ultimate fix, because there’s things that we have to do better. We shoot ourselves in the foot. I don’t think we’re playing with a lot of detail.”

Health isn’t in your control but the things Kamara laid out are. Most importantly, they’re issues that could continue even with a fully healthy team.

Aaron Jones ‘not sure’ if he will play on Sunday for the Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings running back isn’t sure if he will be able to play against the Lions on Sunday.

The Vikings made a trade for Texans’ running back — and former Viking — Cam Akers on Tuesday night. But the trade didn’t indicate anything was seriously wrong with starter Aaron Jones. The first-year running back left the Jets game during Week 5 action after taking a hit and didn’t return to the game.

Even after a bye week in which he rehabbed, Jones told reporters that he was “not sure” if he would play on Sunday against the Lions. Jones plans to practice on Thursday and Friday and will know if he can give it a go on Sunday in a pivotal divisional game.

Jones actually said he hurt his hip pregame in London. He said he felt something when he was stretching but wanted to play. He then took a hit against a Jets’ defender and knew there was something wrong.

If Jones cannot play against Detroit, expect Ty Chandler and Cam Akers to see the snaps.

Broncos release Wednesday injury report ahead of ‘TNF’

Broncos star CB Pat Surtain (concussion) has been ruled out for Thursday’s game against the Saints.

The Denver Broncos have released their final injury report ahead of their Thursday Night Football clash with the New Orleans Saints in Week 7.

Broncos LB Alex Singleton shares injury update on social media

“Thank you everyone for the positive vibes and prayers today,” Alex Singleton wrote. “Going to attack this like everything else full speed!”

Denver Broncos inside linebacker Alex Singleton underwent successful ACL surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

After the surgery, Singleton shared a positive update on social media.

“Road to recovery starts now!” Singleton wrote on his Instagram and X pages. “Thank you everyone for the positive vibes and prayers today. Going to attack this like everything else full speed! Go Broncos!!”

Singleton, who will turn 31 in December, tore his ACL during a 26-7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3. The veteran linebacker did not realize the severity of his injury and played the final 49 snaps on defense.

After the game, Singleton reported a sore knee and tests revealed his torn ACL. The linebacker now begins the road to recovery with a goal of returning in time for the 2025 season next fall.

In the meantime, the Broncos have turned to Justin Strnad to fill in at linebacker, starting next to Cody Barton in Singleton’s old position.
