Ohio State basketball vs. Georgia: How to watch, stream the NIT matchup

One more win and the Buckeyes head to the NIT Final Four. #GoBucks

The Ohio State men’s basketball team continues to play well with new head coach Jake Diebler at the helm. The Buckeyes sent Virginia Tech home with a win on Saturday night by a score of 81-73.

Most thought that would be the last men’s game in The Schott this season, but then Georgia upset No. 1 seed Wake Forest. And since OSU is the higher seed, the Bucks get to host one more game. The Bulldogs were near the bottom of the pack in the SEC standings with a 19-16 overall record and a 6-12 conference record.

If Ohio State can get past UGA on Tuesday night, the team will head to Indianapolis to play in the NIT Final Four at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Ohio State basketball vs. Virginia Tech: How to watch, stream the NIT

Ohio State hosts Cornell in the first-round of the NIT. #GoBucks

The Ohio State men’s basketball team took care of business in the opening round of the NIT Tournament but it wasn’t easy. Ivy League foe Cornell proved to be a tough out with its full-court press and backdoor cuts. The Buckeyes were able to come out on top with a five-point victory in the contest.

Now it’s time to move onto the second round where OSU will host the Virginia Tech Hokies. The Hokies come into the match with a 19-14 record and were a middle-of-the-pack ACC team. Tech seems to have the same problem the Buckeyes had earlier in the year… getting wins on the road. The Hokies are just 2-9 away from Blacksburg.

Here’s how to see all the action.

Ohio State Women open NCAA Tournament play against Maine

Let the Madness begin. #GoBucks

The Ohio State Women’s basketball team had a somewhat disappointing end to the season. Everyone knew it was going to be difficult to get out of Iowa with a win being Caitlin Clark’s final regular season home game. However, not many expected the Buckeyes to lay an egg against Maryland in the Big Ten Tournament.

Because of the late season falter, Ohio State dropped from a presumptive No. 1 seed to the No. 2 line. While that may not have been exactly what Big Ten regular season champs were looking for, it’s still good enough to host the opening weekend of the women’s tournament.

Kevin McGuff’s team will do just that on Friday at Noon when they welcome the No. 15 seed Maine Black Bears to Value City Arena. Maine is 24-9 on the season and winner of the American East Conference Tournament. Should Ohio State get the win, it will face the winner of Duke and Richmond on Sunday.

How to watch Saturday’s UNC-MSU round of 32 clash

North Carolina and Michigan State will face off Saturday in a battle of Blue Bloods. Who advances further in the NCAA Tournament?

Day 1 of March Madness was nothing short of amazing, particularly the afternoon games.

It’s hard to argue the early highlight was Dayton-Nevada. The Flyers rallied from a 17-point, second-half deficit for a 63-60 victory. There were a couple blowouts (Oregon-South Carolina, Arizona-Long Beach State), plus a close call: Duquesne over BYU.

Two NCAA Tournament regulars, UNC and Michigan State, cruised to first-round victories. The Tar Heels and Spartans will play each other on Saturday  in Charlotte, North Carolina.

North Carolina shot exactly 50% in its 90-62 win against Wagner. RJ Davis (22 points), Armando Bacot (20) and Jae’Lyn Withers (16) scored in double-digits. The latter two recorded double-doubles, with Withers nabbing just his second of the year.

Michigan State was tested a lot more by Mississippi State in its opener, as the Bulldogs consistently kept Thursday’s game within single-digits, but the Spartans pulled away for a 69-51 win. Just like their future Tar Heel opponents, three Michigan State players scored in double-digits.

How to watch Wisconsin basketball vs James Madison Dukes in NCAA Tournament round of 64

How to watch Wisconsin basketball vs James Madison Dukes in NCAA Tournament round of 64

Wisconsin basketball opens its 2024 NCAA Tournament with a tough first-round matchup against No. 12-seed James Madison on Friday.

JMU has been a trendy upset pick since the brackets were released. We at Badgers Wire disagree with that notion, and instead see a comfortable Wisconsin victory. Las Vegas agrees with that sentiment and has the Badgers as sizable favorites entering the contest.

IT’S BRACKET MADNESS: Enter USA TODAY’s NCAA tournament bracket contest for a chance at $1 million prize.

Up next for Wisconsin, if it is to beat James Madison, would be a battle with the winner of No. 4 Duke and No. 13 Vermont with a spot in the Sweet 16 on the line. Badgers fans do not like the team’s draw, but certainly enjoy the thought of defeating Duke on the way to a deep run.

Greg Gard’s team will need to take care of James Madison before any of that becomes a possibility.

Here is how to watch Friday night’s contest:

  • Date: Friday, March 22, 2024
  • Opponent: No. 12 James Madison
  • Time: 9:40 p.m. ET, 8:40 p.m. CT
  • TV Channel: CBS, Paramount+ (stream)

NCAA WBIT Tournament: Broadcast and stream info for Penn State vs. George Mason

No. 1 Penn State takes on George Mason in the opening round of the WBIT

For the Penn State Lady Lions, it’s not the NCAA Tournament but postseason basketball. After a successful regular season with the best record since the 2016-17 season, Penn State was one of the first teams out of the NCAA Tournament to take on the Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament.

Penn State will host George Mason on Thursday, March 21. The Patriots finished fourth in the Atlantic 10 conference with a 14-4 record and lost to No. 5 Duquesne in the A10 Tournament about ten days ago. George Mason is led by senior guard Sonia Smith, who averages 15.2 points per game.

Penn State is one of four No. 1 seeds in the tournament, joining James Madison, Villanova, and Washington State. The Lady Lions’ scoring leader is grad transfer [autotag]Ashley Owusu[/autotag], averaging 17.7 points per game. Forward [autotag]Makenna Marisa[/autotag] drops 13.3 ppg while shooting 38% from the 3-point line.

As a team, Penn State shoots 49% from the field and 37.5% from the 3-point line, while George Mason only shoots 39% from the field. On paper, this matchup sets up nicely for the Lady Lions, who own a tremendous offense, but it is March, and anything can happen.

Should Penn State take down the Patriots, they will host the second-round matchup against the Ball State and Belmont winner. If Penn State makes it to the Final Four of this tournament, it will head to Indianapolis for the semifinals (and potentially the finals) to be played in Hinkle Fieldhouse.

How to watch UNC’s first NCAA Tournament game against Wagner

UNC makes its long-awaited return to the NCAA Tournament, facing off against Wagner College on Thursday, March 21 at 2:45 p.m.

Fans had to wait a little longer than expected, but the UNC men’s basketball team is finally back in the NCAA Tournament.

North Carolina went from complete embarrassment last season to – once again – being a National Title contender this year. The Tar Heels are a deeper, experienced team led by the likes of Armando Bacot and RJ Davis, while sporting a trio of talented, contributing transfers in Cormac Ryan, Harrison Ingram and Jae’Lyn Withers.

UNC, which earned the West Region’s top seed, will battle the NEC Champion Wagner Seahawks on Thursday, Dec. 21 at 2:45 p.m. ET. Wagner held off a late charge from MEAC Champion Howard on Tuesday night, earning its first NCAA Tournament victory in program history.

Thursday is a game North Carolina should win easy, but as we’ve seen in the case of UVA and Purdue, no 1-seed is guaranteed a Round of 64 win. The Tar Heels will look to get back to their winning ways – after all, they embarked on separate winning streaks of eight and 10 this season.
