Oregon’s trip to play two road games in the state of Washington got off to a bad start with a surprising road loss to Washington State. Meanwhile, Washington has built up a home win streak. Only one of those trajectories can continue when Oregon and Washington square-off in a Saturday Pac-12 showdown in Seattle.

No. 8 Oregon (14-4, 3-2) had a three-game win streak snapped when it lost to Washington State on the road on Thursday. The Ducks held a three-point lead at halftime but were outscored by 14 points in the second half for a 72-61 loss. Payton Pritchard led the Ducks with 22 points. Washington State went 11-for-21 from three-point range. The Ducks will need to do a better job of defending the perimeter to split their Washington road trip.
Washington (12-6, 2-3) got a 64-56 home win over Oregon State on Thursday. The win was Washington’s second straight home victory in conference play. Washington never trailed in the win over the Beavers, as the Huskies defense carried them to victory. The team held Oregon State to 39 percent shooting and just two threes for the game. Against a more talented Oregon team, Washington’s defense will have to come together against a tougher offensive opponent if it wants a win.
