Foster Moreau scores game-changing touchdown vs. Panthers

Former LSU tight end Foster Moreau came in clutch when the Saints needed it most during Sunday’s road contest against the Carolina Panthers:

Former LSU tight end Foster Moreau came in clutch when the Saints needed it the most during Sunday’s road contest against the Carolina Panthers.

The pass-catcher’s jumping catch in the right corner of the end zone on 3rd & 7 with roughly 12 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter allowed the Saints to go from trailing, 17-16, to leading, 22-17.

It is Moreau’s lone reception of the game for 17 yards, but it may have made all of the difference in the Saints having the chance to get the outcome they wanted in a game that shouldn’t have been this close with New Orleans on the wrong side of it at this point.

Moreau entered the game with 11 catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

The Saints currently lead the Panthers, 22-17 with just under six minutes left to play. If they can hold on, they’ll have chance to raise morale in a big way by snapping a six-game losing streak.

It’ll be a solid first step in getting things back on the right track, even if it comes against arguably the worst team in the NFL.

Panthers got the biggest play of their season vs. Saints

Ja’Tavion Sanders’ 46-yard reception was the Panthers’ first 40-yard play of the season, but it’s right on brand for the Saints defense:

Entering Week 9, the New Orleans Saints have allowed the most 40-yard plays in the NFL. The Carolina Panthers hadn’t registered a gain of 40 yards all season. That changed in the third quarter.

Tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders took a short pass and rumbled forward for a 46-yard catch. This is the longest play of the season by the Panthers offense. After catching the pass, Sanders attempted to hurdle over Tyrann Mathieu. Mathieu stopped the hurdle, but didn’t bring Sanders down.

It was an athletic play you don’t normally see. Sanders came down and kept moving as if his momentum wasn’t stalled.

This is a representation of who the Saints have become. The defense isn’t good anymore, and there’s not a side of the ball you feel you can lean on anymore. Bryce Young looked more comfortable than ever and that explosive play is proof.

Saints punter Matt Hayball fools Panthers on fake punt

The New Orleans Saints got a little creative during Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, and it paid off. Rookie punter Matt Hayball made the play of the day:

The New Orleans Saints got a little creative during Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, and it paid off.

After a week in which head coach Dennis Allen pulled the trigger on the decision to punt the ball in one of the most cowardly manners we have ever seen in football history, the team actually made a smart special teams call here.

On 4th & 1 with just under nine minutes remaining in the third quarter, punter Matt Hayball faked it and carried the ball himself for the first down. Plays like this could be crucial in the ultimate outcome in what’s been perhaps an even closer game than anyone originally expected.

The Saints, despite hading into the game on an abysmal six-game losing streak, were still favored by a slight margin, with some going so far as to expect to New Orleans to record a double-digit victory.

If anything, that’s a testament to just how poorly both teams have performed this season.

The Saints currently trail the Panthers by just one point, 17-16.

Taysom Hill hits important milestone with TD vs. Panthers

New Orleans Saints jack-of-all-trades Taysom Hill has hit a new personal milestone with his clutch touchdown against the Panthers:

New Orleans Saints jack-of-all-trades Taysom Hill has hit a new personal milestone during the team’s Sunday matchup against the Carolina Panthers, now totaling 41 career touchdowns. That ties him for ninth in the team record books with standout running back Pierre Thomas.

Hill came into the game totaling four receptions on seven targets for 23 yards over four appearances so far during the 2024 season. He also had carried the ball 18 times for 97 yards with two touchdowns.

In addition to that, Hill is credited with one forced fumble as well. In this particular game, he’s recorded two receptions for 26 yards with a long of 13 yards. For now, that makes him the team’s leading receiver.

He’s also the team’s second-leading rusher behind running back Alvin Kamara today with four carries for 16 yards and the touchdown.

The Saints currently hold a slight lead over the Panthers at halftime, at 13-10 over the first two quarters of action.

Twitter reacts to Broncos QB Bo Nix ‘Mossing’ Ravens DB Marcus Williams

Broncos QB Bo Nix went up to make an impressive touchdown catch against the Ravens on Sunday afternoon. Here’s how Twitter/X reacted.

Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix made a huge play in the second quarter against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, catching a two-yard touchdown pass from wide receiver Courtland Sutton.

Yes, you read that right: Sutton threw the pass to Nix.

Facing a fourth-and-goal from Baltimore’s two-yard line, Nix handed the ball to running back Javonte Williams behind the line of scrimmage. Williams then gave a reverse to Sutton, who then threw to Nix in the end zone.

Nix jumped up and beat Ravens safety Marcus Williams to the ball and came down with the catch in the end zone for a touchdown. Here’s a sampling of how fans and pundits reacted to the impressive play on Twitter/X.

Nix is the only player in the NFL with a passing, rushing and receiving touchdown this season. He also currently leads all rookies this season with 13 scores. At the time of publication, Denver trails in Baltimore 17-10.

Demario Davis had just three words for his Week 9 Saints pregame speech

Demario Davis had just three words for his Week 9 Saints pregame speech. His team needs to dig deep for a win, even if it’s against the Panthers:

Demario Davis called his New Orleans Saints teammates together for a quick address before kickoff with the Carolina Panthers. It’s a tradition he continued after inheriting the leadership role from Drew Brees, so what did he have to say on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium?

Davis started with just three words.

“Fire, fight, finish,” Davis chanted. He went on to talk about everyone’s motivations,  why they put in the hard work to prepare for this game, and what they need to do to come away with a win.

His team needs to dig deep for a win, even if it’s just the Panthers. Nothing is  guaranteed in the NFL and any team can win on any given Sunday. If they’re going to end this losing streak, it has to start here.

Video depicts Patriots’ dramatic comeback drive vs Jets from another angle

Another look at the Patriots’ incredible comeback drive to beat the Jets

The New England Patriots were playing from behind without their starting quarterback against the New York Jets.

Yet, veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett led the team on a game-winning drive that was capped off by a Rhamondre Stevenson touchdown run late in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

The touchdown was set up by several major plays, including a 34-yard reception from wide receiver Kayshon Boutte. Brissett delivered the pass downfield with defenders closing in around him.

Stevenson put the finishing touches on the drive with the touchdown run and a two-point conversion reception.

The Patriots picked up their second win of the season and put an end to a six-game losing streak. New York had one final drive with 22 seconds left on the clock, but the Patriots’ defense stood firm in holding them off.

This was the first win for the organization over the Jets since September 2023, they were able to do it with style.

Watch Broncos QB Bo Nix’s highlights from big win vs. Panthers

Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix scored four touchdowns against the Panthers on Sunday.

Bo Nix just had his best game as a pro.

The Denver Broncos dominated the Carolina Panthers for most of the game en route to a 28-14 win on Sunday. Their rookie quarterback played a pivotal role in their victory. Nix completed 28 of 37 passes, a 75.7% completion rate, for 284 yards and three touchdowns. All five areas of his statistical evening were career highs in his young career.

Which begs the question: Did Sean Payton strike gold with Nix as quarterback? Although it is early to say if it’s an absolute strike, it is safe to say that each week, we are seeing glimpses of the Nix that Payton evaluated while he was a record-breaking quarterback at the University of Oregon. Nix’s 75.7% completion rate Sunday comes close to his 77 percent clip in his redshirt senior season, which happens to be an NCAA record.

Packers 30, Jaguars 27: Highlights from Week 8 win

Highlights from the Packers’ 30-27 win over the Jaguars in Week 8 of the 2024 season.

The Green Bay Packers used 127 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Josh Jacobs, a pair of takeaways from Jeff Hafley’s defense and a late game-winning drive from Malik Willis to overcome the loss of Jordan Love and beat the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at EverBank Stadium.

The 30-27 victory improved the Packers’ record to 6-2 ahead of next Sunday’s showdown with the Detroit Lions.

Love’s injury status will be in the spotlight, but Willis — who helped the Packers win back-to-back games as a starter earlier this season — delivered more magic on Sunday when he hit Jayden Reed for a 51-yard completion to set up Brandon McManus’ 24-yard field goal as time expired.

The Packers took a 7-0 lead early, led 13-10 at halftime and overcame a 17-13 deficit with back-to-back touchdowns to take a 27-17 lead in the fourth quarter. But the Jaguars scored 10 straight points to tie the game with under two minutes to go, setting the stage for Willis, Reed and McManus to steal the show.
