  • Money line: Golden Knights +120 (bet $100 to win $120) | Avalanche -140 (bet $140 to win $100)

  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: +115 | U: -140)

Golden Knights at Avalanche: Projected starting goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury (7-3-0, 1.71 GAA, .935 SV%, 2 SO) at Philipp Grubauer (9-3-0, 1.67 GAA, .936 SV%, 2 SO)

Fleury was on the short end – a 3-2 loss – of that 11-hour outdoor odyssey at Lake Tahoe in Stateline, Nev., Saturday. While he could probably use a little bit of a breather, G Robin Lehner did not travel for the outdoor game and missed a fifth consecutive game due to an upper-body injury. So, Fleury is projected to face the Avs yet again. MAF has faced Colorado in three straight starts, losing two. However, in those games, he has a stellar 2.02 GAA and .936 SV%, which are right in line with his overall numbers. The difference is that the VGK offense has provided him with just five total goals in this three outings.

Grubauer has locked it down against the Golden Knights. His only loss in three starts against Vegas was Valentine’s Day when his offense showed him no love in a 1-0 loss. He is 2-1-0 with a 1.68 GAA and .939 SV% against the Golden Knights this season, including 27 saves in Saturday’s outdoor game.

Golden Knights at Avalanche: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Avalanche 3, Golden Knights 2

Money line (ML)

The AVALANCHE (-140) are a decent play on home ice, although this one could really go either way. Both clubs have received tremendous goaltending when facing each other. While it’s not going out on a limb by predicting the same exact score as Saturday’s tilt, that’s how low-scoring and tight these games have been. There is no reason to get cute and predict something crazy. We’ll get defense and a close game with the home side at a slight advantage.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Avalanche -1.5 (+195) are a tempting play as Fleury could be a little gassed after doing the heavy lifting with Lehner still on the shelf. That’s the only reason a puck like play on Colorado is worth a look. The best bet is to PASS, however.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 5.5 (-140) is the way to go, although the books have made it a little less attractive with some added juice. The Under has cashed in the first three head-to-head outings with a total of 11 goals over those contests. So, why stop thumping the Under now?

Vegas Golden Knights vs. Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Vegas Golden Knights vs. Colorado Avalanche NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Vegas Golden Knights (10-3-1) and the Colorado Avalanche (8-4-1) meet Saturday afternoon for a 3 p.m. ET puck drop in an outdoor game near Lake Tahoe in Stateline, Nev. Below we analyze the Golden Knights-Avalanche NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Golden Knights vs. Avalanche: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 3:46 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Golden Knights +100 (bet $100 to win $100) | Avalanche -115 (bet $115 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Golden Knights +1.5 (-275) | Avalanche -1.5 (+225)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Golden Knights vs. Avalanche: Projected starting goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury (7-2-0, 1.56 GAA, .937 SV%, 2 SO) at Philipp Grubauer (8-3-0, 1.64 GAA, .936 SV%, 2 SO)

Fleury is confirmed to start in what will be his third consecutive appearance against the Avs. He allowed three goals on 25 shots in a 3-2 home loss Tuesday. Prior to that, he showed the Avs no love on Valentine’s Day, turning aside all 30 shots he faced in a 1-0 shutout win.

Colorado’s Grubauer is projected to start. He opposed Fleury in each of those two outings and was the beneficiary of C Nazem Kadri’s game-winning goal at 19:19 of the third period to stun VGK Tuesday. Grubauer has allowed three or fewer goals in each of his past 10 starts since allowing four goals on Jan. 13 in his initial outing of the season against the St. Louis Blues.

Golden Knights vs. Avalanche: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Golden Knights 3, Avalanche 2

Money line (ML)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (+100) are a good play at even money in their first-ever outdoor game. This game will be played at Edgewood Tahoe Resort with a rink built on top of the 18th fairway, not physically on Lake Tahoe, but it will be a beautiful scene just the same.

The Avalanche played in the NHL’s last outdoor game before the pause last season, falling 3-1 against the Los Angeles Kings at Falcon Stadium at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., Feb. 15, 2020.

The underdog has cashed in each of the past seven in this series, making Vegas that much more attractive.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Golden Knights +1.5 (-275) are just too expensive if you’re looking for some insurance. Take VGK straight-up instead. Just be prepared for a tight, low-scoring game. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 5.5 (-110) is the best play on the board. Fleury and Grubauer yield next to nothing, and their tremendous rebound control is a good reason for their success. Solid defense in front of them also doesn’t hurt.

The Under has cashed in four in a row for Vegas, while going 10-1-1 in its past 12 against teams with a winning record.

Vegas Golden Knights vs. Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and best bets

NHL betting analysis around the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche Saturday matchup, with NHL odds, spreads and betting lines to exploit.

The Vegas Golden Knights and the Colorado Avalanche square off in their final Western Conference round-robin game Saturday at 3 p.m. ET at Rogers Place in Edmonton. We analyze the Golden Knights-Avalanche NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Both teams are 2-0 in round-robin play and have clinched the top two seeds in the West. Saturday’s winner will earn the No. 1 seed and will face the 12th-seeded Chicago Blackhawks when the quarterfinals begin next week. Saturday’s loser will be the No. 2 seed and will play the 11th-seeded Arizona Coyotes in the next round.

Golden Knights vs. Avalanche: Projected starting goalies

Robin Lehner vs. Pavel Francouz/Philipp Grubauer

Lehner was tabbed for the team’s first start Monday, turning back 24 of his 27 shots to pick up a 5-3 win over the Dallas Stars. The second start went to Marc-Andre Fleury against the St. Louis Blues, and while he picked up a win, he made just 13 saves in the 6-4 victory. While it’s unofficial, Lehner is projected to be the starter. He made 28 saves on 31 shots in a 5-3 win at Colorado on Dec. 21 as a member of the Blackhawks, but he was also tattooed for five goals on 14 shots before getting pulled in Denver in a 7-3 loss on Nov. 30, so the results against the Avs are mixed.

Grubauer looked outstanding in a 2-1 win over the defending champion St. Louis Blues Sunday, stopping 31 of the 32 shots which came his way. Meanwhile, Francouz tossed a shutout in Game 2, turning back all 27 shots he faced against the Dallas Stars Wednesday. So, the Avalanche look to be equipped with two solid options in the crease as they look to make a deep run into the postseason. Coach Jared Bednar has a tough decision to make, but it’s a great problem to have. Expect the veteran to get the nod in this one, with Francouz serving as the understudy.

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Golden Knights 2

Moneyline (ML)

The AVALANCHE (-118) are the slight favorites. The Golden Knights (+100) have had to rally from a pair of two-goal deficits in their previous two outings to get to this point. Colorado has certainly struggled much less. Plus, Colorado has also won four straight in this series, so the LEAN HERE IS TO THE AVS.

New to sports betting? A winning $10 bet on the Avalanche returns a profit of $8.47, while a $10 play on the Golden Knights fetches a return of $10 if they prevail.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The AVALANCHE (-1.5, +225) are rolling right along, and they’re a strong value on the puck line as they look to lock up the top seed in the West. Give them the nod here with Colorado’s goaltender duo playing just a little bit better than that of Vegas (+1.5, -286).

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-121) is worth a small-unit play, although it might take a late empty-net goal to send this one Over. The last time these teams met it was a 7-3 rout for the Avs in Vegas, and the Oct. 25 game featured seven goals, mostly by Colorado in a 6-1 win. In fact, the Over has cashed in three straight meetings in this series.
