Photos: Highlights of Georgia’s 37-20 win over Vanderbilt

UGA football moves to 7-0 after an unimpressive win over Vanderbilt.

The Georgia Bulldogs moved to 7-0 behind another uneven performance against Vanderbilt. Georgia star tight end Brock Bowers injured his ankle in Georgia’s 37-20 win over the Commodores.

The Bulldogs outgained Vanderbilt, 552-219, but Georgia failed to convert on a few red zone opportunities and turned the ball over twice against Vanderbilt. Georgia quarterback Carson Beck threw a costly interception late in the game that gave Vanderbilt life.

The Georgia rushing attack and defense was quite effective. The Bulldogs ran for 291 rushing yards against Vanderbilt and allowed the Commodores to gain just 18 rushing yards.

Georgia’s impressive performance against Kentucky looks like a blip on the radar. Georgia has consistently started games slowly and has lacked an elite level of execution. The Bulldogs have a bye week ahead of the Oct. 28 game against Florida.

Let’s take a look at the top moments from the Georgia-Vanderbilt game.

Social media reacts to Georgia’s tough win at Vanderbilt

Georgia faithful not happy with Bulldogs’ play at Vanderbilt…

In its 37-20 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, top-ranked Georgia didn’t look like the same team we saw last week.

The Bulldogs were 31.5-point favorites, and the Commodores entered the game 2-5 on the season.

Following a 51-13 win over No. 20 Kentucky in Week 6, the expectations were high for the Bulldogs in this one.

The Commodores, who hadn’t scored a touchdown against UGA since 2018, scored on their first drive thanks to a 49-yard touchdown pass and went on to score three times on the day.

Star tight end Brock Bowers and multiple other Bulldogs left the game with injuries, including defensive lineman Christen Miller, right tackle Xavier Truss and running back Kendall Milton.

In the end, Georgia shut down the Commodores’ comeback attempt and iced the game with a late touchdown by running back Daijun Edwards. The senior tailback racked up 146 yards on 20 carries and a score.

Carson Beck didn’t have his best game. He fumbled twice, losing one, and threw a costly interception that led to a late Vanderbilt touchdown. Beck finished 29-of-39 passes for 269 yards with a touchdown and the interception.

Updated Georgia injury report ahead of UGA vs. Vanderbilt

Injury updates on Roderick Robinson, David Daniel-Sisavanh, Marvin Jones Jr. and more…

The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs (6-0) will take on the Vanderbilt Commodores (2-5) on Saturday in Nashville.

The Bulldogs have dealt with an unprecedented number of key injuries since fall camp, but they are the healthiest they’ve been to this point.

Starting wide receiver Ladd McConkey (back) has appeared in a limited capacity in the last two games after missing the first four weeks. Running back Kendall Milton (MCL) played his most snaps against Kentucky since going down in Week 3.

While this is the shortest list we’ve had this year, multiple other Bulldogs are working their way back to the field.

Here’s our updated Georgia injury report, including recent quotes from head coach Kirby Smart:

Georgia freshman earns SEC honor for performance vs. Vanderbilt

Georgia football is loaded with freshman talent and it was on display vs. Vandy.

Georgia freshman tight end Brock Bowers is leading the Bulldogs in receiving so far this season. The former four-star prospect had to step in when star tight end Darnell Washington underwent foot surgery in fall camp and has more than impressed through four games.

The Napa, Cal. was named SEC Freshman of the Week for a productive day versus Vanderbilt, racking up four catches for 69 yards and two touchdowns, with another 12 yards and a score on the ground.

Fellow Bulldog Adonai Mitchell won the same award just two weeks ago.

Bowers has 18 receptions for 272 yards and four touchdowns on the year. Georgia needed a playmaker to step up with the large number of injuries to receivers and Bowers has done just that.

Check out Bower’s big day versus the Commodores:

Georgia freshman TE Brock Bowers scores third TD of the day

That’s a hat-trick for the true freshman TE.

Georgia freshman tight end Brock Bowers, a former 4-star out of Napa, California, has been nothing short of impressive this season.

He’s emerged as a favorite target for both JT Daniels and Stetson Bennett and has shown that again today, scoring three touchdowns in just over one half of play against Vanderbilt.

Bowers’ first score came on Georgia’s opening drive, when the tight end took an end-around for a 12 yard score.

On the next drive, with Georgia leading 7-0, it was Bowers again. This time is was a 25 yard score on a pass from Daniels.

See both here:

Then on Georgia’s opening drive of the second half, it was Stetson Bennett who found Bowers for another touchdown.

This time from 29 yards out.

Watch: Highlights from Georgia’s 38-0 first half vs. Vanderbilt

Here’s highlights from Georgia’s dominant first half in Nashville.

We thought No. 2 Georgia would get off to a fast start in Nashville versus Vanderbilt and the Bulldogs did just that in the first half.

UGA leads the Commodores 35-0, with every point coming in the first quarter with J.T. Daniels at quarterback.

It all started with a touchdown rush from freshman tight end Brock Bowers.

And no, you’re not seeing double. Bowers scored another touchdown in the Dawgs’ second possession.

Then it was the Georgia kickoff team in on the action with a fumble recovery that set up a one-yard Zamir White touchdown rush.

Then it was Georgia’s defense in on the action as safety Christopher Smith secured his second interception of the year.

The next two scores came at the hands of freshman receiver Ladd McConkey, who caught his first career touchdown pass before running for a score on an end-around in consecutive possessions.

Kicker Jack Podlesny added a 31 yard field goal to make it 38-0 at the half. You can catch the rest of the game live on the SEC Network.
