PHOTOS: Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade through the years

A movie star and one of the finest guards in NBA history, Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade form one of the most prominent power couples in the sports and entertainment industry. Together since 2009, they have been a constant presence at red-carpet events and NBA arenas.

Check out some of their best pictures through the years below:

Carmelo Anthony says LeBron James saved his life ‘like MacGyver’ in Bahamas

We have a little bit more context to the legendary trip of the Banana Boat crew to the Bahamas back in 2015.

As Instagram Live continues to be one of the only bastions of fresh content these days as it relates to the NBA, Portland Trail Blazers forward and 10-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony helped give people more context to the iconic Banana Boat crew vacation to the Bahamas back in 2015 during a live session he did on Friday night with Dwyane Wade. It also may explain why Carmelo was not actually in the iconic Banana Boat photo with Wade, Chris Paul, LeBron James and Wade’s wife Gabrielle Union riding on the boat.

According to Anthony, during the vacation, LeBron James basically saved his life as the current had overtaken him during a swimming expedition to a hidden cove. As Melo was floating away from everyone else, LeBron lept off the boat, “like MacGyver,” to save him.

It’s hard to blame Anthony after such a situation to then elect not to jump on the Banana Boat. We can all understand that it was going to be a much better time for Melo to chill and watch everyone else ride the boat while drinking a glass of wine.

The Dwyane Wade-Gabrielle Union family had so much fun crushing the #InHouseChallenge

This family is making quarantine fun.

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union’s competitive urges can’t be quelled during the coronavirus pandemic.

After Hawks guard Trae Young kicked off the #InHouseChallenege, the Wade-Union family gave it a try. The concept of the challenge is fairly simple: you take household items and shoot them at a trash bin, basket or hoop-like object. It ends up looking something like a run through the three-point competition during All-Star Weekend. NBA fans seemed to enjoy it.

Wade and Union were no exception. They set up a bunch of small balls and shot at a toy hoop. It looks like it was a matchup between husband and wife, though they were definitely cheering each other on along the way.

Union’s buzzer-beater at the end was pretty awesome.

Whatever passes the time, folks.

Chris Paul says he had a chance to team with LeBron and D-Wade

Oklahoma City Thunder star and Banana Boat member Chris Paul says a Banana Boat squad in the NBA was close to happening.

What if the Banana Boat squad had gotten together on an NBA team? One of the greatest what if’s in recent NBA history, whether the four friends who came to define a generation in the NBA, had teamed up together. This question, about whether Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Chris Paul, and Dwyane Wade could have ever joined a team together, got a little bit more interesting on Wednesday afternoon.

Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks interviewed Chris Paul on the latest episode of her shot “Take It There,” where the subject of the Banana Boat squad came up. Although Paul was coy with details, Rooks did get him to admit that a team-up with LeBron, Paul and Wade was close during the course of their Hall of Fame careers.

Paul wouldn’t tell which year it could have been and it would have been hard for all of them to make it happen considering the amount of money all of those players individually made during their career.

Dwyane Wade is sharing a proud …

Dwyane Wade is sharing a proud parenting moment. During Tuesday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” the former NBA player talked to DeGeneres about how he has supported his 12-year-old since she told her parents she wanted to be referred to using female pronouns. “Once Zaya… originally born Zion as a boy – came home and said, ‘Hey, so I want to talk to you guys. I think going forward I’m ready to live my truth, and I want to be referenced as ‘she’ and ‘her.’ I would love for you guys to call me Zaya,’ ” he recalled. “So internally, now it’s our job to… go out and get information, to reach out to every relationship that we have.”

Wade said his wife, Gabrielle Union, …

Wade said his wife, Gabrielle Union, reached out to the cast of the FX show “Pose” to help get informed. “Pose” is a drama series centered around Black and Latino LGBTQ characters. “We’re just trying to figure out as much information as we can to make sure that we give our child the best opportunities to be her best self,” Wade said.

Dwyane Wade defends his son’s free expression in beautiful display of fatherly love

“I’ve been chosen to lead my family not y’all.”

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union will run their family how they please. And they seem to have their hearts set upon creating an open and accepting household. (As they should.)

Union shared she’s having a tough time after getting fired from America’s Got Talent, so she thanked her followers on Instagram for supporting her and sending her love. The photo showed Union, Wade, their daughter Kaavia James and Wade’s 12-year-old son Zion Malachi Airamis.

Somehow, Wade’s son took center stage. His outfit choice, which included long nails and a crop top, apparently made people uncomfortable on Twitter.

It’s absurd that social media users think they have a valuable opinion on Wade and Union’s parenting style. But that’s what social media has created: emboldened keyboard warriors. (Can you imagine someone walking up to Wade and Union in real life to tell them what their child should or should not be wearing? Of course not.)

Even though he shouldn’t have to, Wade addressed the negativity surrounding his fathering and his son with a series of thoughtful tweet.

His wife posted a photo to give thinks — it was a nice image of two parents and two children. They didn’t address the topic of discussion in the comments: the son’s outfit. Why would they? They support what he’s wearing — they didn’t even have to say it. Unfortunately when close-mindedness persisted in the public, Wade was forced to address it and he put together a beautiful display of fatherly love.
