Sean Payton responds to Bo Nix’s funny Ferris Bueller video

“It was outstanding … He’s got a good sense of humor,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said of Bo Nix’s Ferris Bueller video.

Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton and rookie quarterback Bo Nix had a heated sideline discussion during the team’s 34-18 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon.

After the game, Payton said Nix has “a little bit of Ferris Bueller” in him, referencing the 1986 comedy starring Matthew Broderick.

Nix took that remark in stride and posted a funny highlight video on his Instagram page on Tuesday featuring one of the movie’s famous lines: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Payton was asked about the video after Wednesday’s practice.

“It was outstanding,” Payton said. “He had to look up the freakin’ movie. It was outstanding. I think I ‘liked’ it — if that’s what the heart [button] means.

“He’s got a good sense of humor. And I think he had to have some help [to make the video]. He had to have some help. We’ll figure out who.”

Nix admitted that he did not make the video himself.

“I definitely didn’t do it. I’m not talented like that,” Nix said. “I just thought it was perfect timing to kind of use the game on Sunday and just have some fun with it.”

Payton said he called Nix “Ferris Bueller” at Wednesday’s practice and the quarterback responded by calling him “Dennis The Menace,” a nickname that was given to Payton by former coach Bill Parcells.

Nix said his teammates also appreciated the video.

“The guys liked the video, and they gave me a hard time about it,” the QB said. “I think it’s just kind of part of the game that you can have some fun with. Kind of just bring smiles and laughter.”

“Bo is doing it the correct way,” wide receiver Courtland Sutton said after practice. “That’s my thought. He’s hilarious, man.”

In case you missed Nix’s video:

Instant classic.

Bo Nix responds to Sean Payton’s comments with perfect Ferris Bueller video

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” — Ferris Bueller/Bo Nix

In the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix was captured by Fox cameras having a heated exchange with coach Sean Payton on the sideline.

After the game, Payton explained that Nix had flipped a play that the coach did not want to be flipped, and they discussed it on the sideline after the play. Payton said Nix has “a little bit of Ferris Bueller” in him.

Payton, of course, was referencing “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” a 1986 comedy starring Matthew Broderick.

“Ferris is kind of quirky and doing his own thing once in a while,” Payton said. “Did you watch the movie? Have you ever seen it? He still has some Ferris Bueller in him. He’s got some. Not mischievous, maybe a little bit kind of subtly.”

Two days later, Nix had a perfect reaction to Payton’s comments. The 24-year-old quarterback shared a highlight video on his Instagram page featuring a clip of Ferris Bueller and a caption featuring an iconic line from the movie: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Nix helped the Broncos beat the Raiders by a score of 34-18 with a 70.4% completion rate, 206 passing yards, two touchdown passes, one touchdown run and no turnovers. Perhaps having some Ferris Bueller in him isn’t a bad thing.

Pat Surtain teases Riley Moss with funny white cornerback meme

“A lot of people were questioning what the white cornerback was going to do, but he’s definitely making history,” PS2 said of Riley Moss.

Denver Broncos second-year cornerback Riley Moss has emerged as a key member of the team’s defense this season and he grabbed his first career interception against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

“[H]e’s consistent each and every week and he prepares the right way and eventually he was going to make a play like that, and I’m very happy for him,” star cornerback Pat Surtain said of Moss after Sunday’s 34-18 win.

“It’s crazy because a lot of people were questioning what the white cornerback was going to do, but he’s definitely making history. It’s good to see him out there making plays and doing what he’s doing so I’m very proud of him.”

Moss is the first white cornerback to start regularly in the NFL since Jason Sehorn in the late 1990s and early 2000s. That has led to teasing from even his own teammates, but it’s all been good-natured.

“He for sure can jump, by the way,” Surtain said during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday. “I know that’s the reference going around, but he for sure can jump.”

https://twitter.com/PatMcAfeeShow/status/1843360730227294335

Surtain, of course, was referencing the 1992 comedy “White Men Can’t Jump.” Broncos fans turned the cover of that film into a meme featuring Surtain and Moss, and the cornerback re-shared the meme on Monday:

The teasing won’t stop from fans or pundits anytime soon.

Moss, 24, now has four pass breakups, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery through his first five starts in the NFL. He can jump, and he’s quickly emerging as one of the league’s top young corners.

Broncos center had a really awkward moment vs. Raiders

Broncos center Luke Wattenberg clearly did not realize that quarterback Bo Nix was not lined up under center on this play.

Late in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos center Luke Wattenberg and rookie quarterback Bo Nix were clearly not on the same page before a second-down snap.

Nix lined up in shotgun, but Wattenberg must have thought the quarterback was under center because when he snapped the ball, he snapped it directly into himself, expecting Nix to be there.

The resulting snap quickly went viral on social media:

Fortunately, Nix recovered the ball and the Broncos went on to win 34-18.

Former college quarterback and coach Mike Sanford, who now works for 9News, speculated that Wattenberg’s botched snap is what led to Nix’s heated moment with coach Sean Payton on the sideline.

“My Take: The Heated Exchange between Bo Nix & Sean Payton was based on this Play…not the absolute Dime that he uncorked to Troy Franklin,” Sanford wrote on his Twitter/X page on Monday morning.

Payton and Nix indicated after the game that the sideline exchange happened after the quarterback flipped a play that Payton did not want to be flipped.

As for Wattenberg, injury was added to embarrassment later in the game when he left with an ankle injury and Alex Forsyth played the final 10 snaps at center against the Raiders.

We’ll see if Wattenberg recovers in time to face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6.

Gardner Minshew roasted by Twitter for embarrassing sideline moment vs. Broncos

“That’s his third pick today!” 😭😭😭

Whelp, this is embarrassing.

After throwing two interceptions against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, quarterback Gardner Minshew was benched by the Las Vegas Raiders in favor of Aidan O’Connell.

While watching from the sidelines in the fourth quarter, Minshew was caught by Fox cameras in an awkward moment. Fans were quick to react on social media.

Here’s one positive spin from Radphant0ms on reddit: “Probably picking mustache hair out of his mouth. As a bearded individual, it’s a real struggle.” We’ll hope that was the case.

Minshew finished the game 12-of-17 passing for 137 yards with one touchdown pass and two (three?) picks. The Broncos won 34-18.

Broncos had a crazy raccoon incident at the Raiders game

Please do not pick up raccoons with your bare hands at Broncos games!

Free the raccoon!

Before the Denver Broncos‘ game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, fans spotted a raccoon wandering around Empower Field at Mile High.

Security tried to catch the speedy mammal before kickoff without much luck:

Eventually, a fan ended up grabbing the raccoon with his bare hands! (Which is absolutely not advisable.)

That gave security an opportunity to move into position to cage the raccoon. But he escaped!

And it ran down the aisle over the feet of screaming fans:

Eventually, the raccoon was caught:

After the ‘coon drama, fans at the stadium enjoyed a convincing 34-18 win over the Raiders while Denver wore its beautiful throwback uniform. Raccoon shenanigans aside, it was a great day in Broncos Country.

Sean Payton says Broncos have to get ‘Ferris Bueller’ out of Bo Nix after sideline exchange

“There’s still a bit of Ferris Bueller in this player that we got to get rid of,” Sean Payton said of his sideline exchange with Bo Nix.

Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix had a heated sideline exchange with coach Sean Payton in the third quarter of Sunday’s 34-18 win over the Las Vegas Raiders at home.

Payton addressed the incident during his postgame press conference.

“It’s part of the deal,” Payton said. “Listen, last year, all of a sudden I was — it’s just, there’s still a bit of Ferris Bueller in this player that we got to get rid of. Talking about Bo. And I love him to death. And so, sometimes it’s my love language, all right?”

Payton seemed to initially reference his sideline bouts with Russell Wilson last fall before switching the spotlight to Nix. The coach was later asked to explain the Ferris Bueller comparison.

“Ferris was kind of quirky doing his own thing once in a while,” Payton said. The coach went on to explain that the rookie flipped a play he wasn’t supposed to.

“Look, there are times where you send something in and then, ‘I don’t want it flipped,’ and it gets flipped — and so, it’s all good. He works his tail off and I am that way [too]. So it just is what it is.”

Nix had a funny initial response when asked about the incident.

“Yeah, well, he turned and looked at me and said, ‘I love you,’ and I turned and said, ‘I love you’ back,” the quarterback joked.

Nix went on to admit that he did flip the play and he, like Payton, downplayed the sideline incident.

“We’re just out there with great intensity and fire and we can have those conversations and move right back along and score another few touchdowns,” Nix said. “It doesn’t bother us.”

Nix finished the game 19-of-27 passing for 206 yards with two touchdown passes, one touchdown run and no turnovers. Sunday was the best game of Nix’s career, so that fiery exchange clearly did not have a negative impact on the rookie quarterback’s performance.

Bo Nix had a funny reaction to his sideline beef with Sean Payton

“He turned and looked at me and said, ‘I love you,’ and I turned and said, ‘I love you,'” Bo Nix joked about his exchange with Sean Payton.

In the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Fox cameras captured Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix getting into a heated argument with coach Sean Payton on the sideline.

The Broncos were winning 20-10 at that point of the game and they went on to win 34-18. After the victory, Nix was asked about the incident.

“Yeah, well, he turned and looked at me and said, ‘I love you,’ and I turned and said, ‘I love you’ back,” Nix joked.

Payton said in his postgame press conference that Nix had flipped a play that he was not supposed to, and he joked that the rookie quarterback has “a bit of Ferris Bueller” in him that Payton wants to eliminate.

Nix was asked in his post-game presser if the argument was about flipping the play.

“It was a simple play,” Nix said. “We had it flipped. He wanted it to the boundary and we just kind of got confused there in the huddle. So I tried to get things right — we ended up having it, it had a chance, and I overthrew it, but that’s part of the game sometimes.”

Nix threw a deep pass to wide receiver Troy Franklin, who wasn’t able to haul it in for a score. The quarterback then had a fiery exchange with his coach on the sideline, something Nix downplayed after the win.

“We’re just out there with great intensity and fire and we can have those conversations and move right back along and score another few touchdowns,” Nix said. “It doesn’t bother us.”

Nix finished the game with a 70.4% completion rate for 206 yards with two touchdown passes, one touchdown run and no turnovers. Cleary, his bout with Payton on the sideline did not have a negative impact on the offense.

Video of Maxx Crosby trolling Bo Nix at the line of scrimmage goes viral

Maxx Crosby went viral for trolling Bo Nix at the line of scrimmage, but Nix got the last laugh with three TDs in a 34-18 win.

During the Denver Broncos‘ game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, veteran pass rusher Maxx Crosby trolled quarterback Bo Nix at the line of scrimmage, creating a moment captured by Fox cameras that has gone viral on social media.

Nix went up to the line to relay the play to his teammates and Crosby stood up and yelled, “Bo speak up! They don’t [expletive] know [the play]!” The audio was picked up by Fox’s microphones and aired during Sunday’s broadcast.

NFL defenders are not allowed to yell “hut” or “hike” or simulate a snap, but there’s nothing in the rulebook that prevents a defender from yelling at the quarterback before the play.

The moment has been quite a hit on Twitter/X.

Crosby ended the game with two sacks, but Nix and the Broncos got the last laugh in a 34-18 Denver victory. Nix had the best game of his career with two touchdown passes, a touchdown run and no turnovers.

Crosby’s trolling went viral, but Nix left the stadium with a win.

Peyton Manning and Eli star in funny King’s Hawaiian commercials

Peyton and Eli Manning continue their sibling rivalry in King’s Hawaiian funny new commercials.

Peyton Manning and his brother, Eli, joined King’s Hawaiian last year in a two-year marketing campaign promoting the company’s sliders and pretzel bites.

After debuting last fall, the former NFL quarterbacks returned with several new commercials this year continuing the “Slider Sunday” campaign.

“The versatility of their sliders means whether it’s tailgating during football season, enjoying a backyard barbeque or really just ending any weekend on a high note, we’re covered with King’s Hawaiian,” Peyton ssaid in a press release. “We’ve enjoyed working with their great team and look forward to more great moments to come.”

The commercials were created and produced by Omaha Productions, Peyton’s production company.

Here’s the first commercial in which Eli “saves Slider Sunday again” by remembering to bring the sliders that Peyton forgot:
