Peyton and Eli Manning star in Madden’s Super Bowl prediction commercial

Peyton Manning and his brother Eli helped promote Madden’s prediction for Super Bowl LIV.

Each year, EA Sports releases a Super Bowl winner prediction using its popular Madden NFL video game. This year, Madden recruited former NFL quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Eli Manning to shoot a commercial promoting their prediction.

Peyton gives a tour of the prediction lab and tells viewers that more football fans need to play the “Super Bowl” on Madden to help finalize a prediction. There’s a big gold button used to submit the prediction and Eli’s apparently in charge of protecting it.

“I didn’t really get to play as much as I wanted to this year,” Eli says when Peyton tells him he’s at Madden’s facility to “play.”

Peyton: “So you need to play now.”

Eli: “I’ll think about it.”

Peyton: “I think you should play.”

Eli: “You should play.”

Peyton: “I am playing!”

Eli [shocked]: “You’re playing?”

Peyton: “Ya-yes, wait, what are we talking about here?”

The commercial was undoubtedly filmed before Eli announced his retirement. It probably would have been a little funnier if it had been released before Eli’s announcement but it’s still pretty good.

Madden’s official prediction was released last week: EA Sports has the Chiefs beating the 49ers 35-31 in Super Bowl LIV on Sunday.

Peyton Manning recalls hilarious Eli Manning prank

Peyton Manning is yet to get revenge on his brother, Eli, for an “atomic wedgie” prank that happened on one of their golf trips.

After Eli Manning announced his retirement from the NFL last month, his older brother, Peyton, sat down with the Broncos’ media team to talk about Eli’s accomplished career.

Among the topics that came up: their pranks.

Peyton described Eli as a “silent assassin,” perfectly timing his pranks. Peyton said Eli’s best prank happened on one of their golf trips.

“We were staying in the same room and my bed was kind of up against the corner, and I was taking a nap,” Peyton said. “And he jumps on top of me and gives me almost an atomic wedgie. And he had all the leverage. My shoulders were stuck in the corner. I couldn’t get out. I just had to take it.”

Peyton is yet to get revenge for that particular prank.

“I haven’t been able to get him back,” the former QB said. “Maybe if we get a chance to play some more golf together, maybe I’ll have a chance to get him back. Right now he’s still one up on me.”

There has been some speculation that Peyton and Eli could be a good commentator duo for NFL games but Peyton seemingly shot down those rumors. Peyton and Eli probably won’t end up in a broadcast booth together but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Peyton as a commentator someday.

Peyton will be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame next year.

Peyton Manning stars in two new American Financing commercials

NFL legend Peyton Manning stars in two new American Financing commercials. Watch them here.

Peyton Manning’s back at it again, starring in new commercials.

The five-time NFL MVP has worked with Nationwide (chicken parm you taste so good!), Tide, Gatorade, DIRECTV, OtterBox and more companies since hanging up his cleats in 2016. The retired quarterback is making just as much from endorsements as he did during his final three years with the Broncos, according to estimates from Forbes.

Manning’s latest endorsement deal is with American Financing, a national mortgage banker. In his first ad with American Financing, Manning breaks down “game film” and critiques one of the employee’s handshake technique.

The second ad features Manning conversing with co-workers at one of the mortgage lender’s offices.

“I’m not here,” Manning says when told his “neighbor Mike” wants him to check on his cat again.

Manning, 43, played with the Broncos from 2012-2015, winning the AFC West four straight years. Denver reached the Super Bowl twice during the Manning era and the superstar QB retired after the Broncos defeated the Panthers 24-10 in Super Bowl 50.

Manning will be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.

Von Miller shares funny meme inspired by Marshawn Lynch’s viral press conference

Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch told NFL players to take care of their chicken. Broncos linebacker Von Miller has that covered.

After the Seahawks’ 28-23 loss to the Packers in the NFC playoffs last weekend, running back Marshawn Lynch shared advice for young players in his postgame press conference. Video of Lynch’s presser has since gone viral.

“I’ll tell y’all right now while you’re in it, take care of y’all bread so when y’all done you can go ahead and take care of yourself,” Lynch said, via Seahawks Wire. “So while you’re all in take care of your bodies, take care of your chicken, take care of your mentals, because we don’t last that long.”

After the running back’s message went viral, Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller shared a humorous meme of him literally taking care of his chickens.

“Literally 💵🐓🤝 @beastmode,” Miller captioned his post, tagging Lynch.

Miller studied poultry sciences at Texas A&M and he’s now a part-time chicken farmer. He’s even named some of his chickens after teammates.

Watch Dalton Risner find out who his new offensive coordinator is

Broncos guard Dalton Risner found out from a reporter who his new offensive coordinator will be next season.

Before the Broncos officially hired offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur on Tuesday afternoon, KMGH-TV’s Troy Renck spoke with offensive lineman Dalton Risner about the team’s offensive coaching changes.

Risner didn’t even know Shurmur was going to be the new hire.

“Who?” Risner asked when Renck mentioned having a new offensive coordinator. “What? Wait, who’s Pat Shurmur? No way! I had no idea! Isn’t that crazy?” Risner said with a big smile.

Risner apparently isn’t very familiar with Shurmur but he had good things to say about Rich Sangarello, who was fired on Sunday.

“I’m just on Twitter yesterday and I see that my offensive coordinator was fired and I liked the guy,” Risner said. “So that was a huge bummer. You know, I loved Rich Scangarello and I thought he did a hell of a job and thought he did a lot of great things.

“You just told me who my new offensive coordinator was, I had no idea. I’m getting a quick taste of what it’s like to be in the big leagues.”

Risner was selected by Denver in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft. He started all 16 games last season and earned PFWA and PFF All-Rookie Team honors after allowing 2.5 sacks in his first year as a pro.

Peyton Manning once benched a WR for attempting a 1-handed catch

Peyton Manning once benched former Colts wide receiver Austin Collie after he attempted a one-handed catch.

Former Colts punter Pat McAfee, who played with quarterback Peyton Manning from 2009-2011, now has his own show and some of his best episodes feature hilarious stories about Manning.

During one of his shows last fall, McAfee told a story about when Manning got upset with former Indianapolis wide receiver Austin Collie, who failed to catch a pass after running an out route.

“It was a little bit out of his each but Austin reached with one hand to catch it and it hit off his hand and it just dropped [to the ground],” McAfee said. “Austin had been having an incredible season thus far and he put his head down and — it was probably first or second down — he jogged back to the huddle and before he got like probably five feet away from the huddle, Peyton Manning just pointed at the sideline and he said, ‘Get out.'”

Jim Caldwell, who was the Colts’ offensive coordinator at the time, tried to send Collie back into the game but Manning wouldn’t let the wide receiver back on the field. Indianapolis went on to score a touchdown on that drive and Manning then spoke with Collie on the sideline.

“I was told that if I ever try to catch a ball with one hand again, I will never be on a football field again when Peyton Manning’s the quarterback,” Collie told McAfee after speaking with the QB.

During his three seasons with Manning, Collie caught 172 passes for 1,839 yards and 16 touchdowns. He retired from football in 2016.

The Internet loves this video of Drew Lock rapping to a Young Jeezy song on the sideline

A video of Broncos QB Drew Lock rapping along to a Young Jeezy song drew more than 15 million views on social media.

During the third quarter of the Broncos’ game against the Raiders in Week 17, quarterback Drew Lock was filmed on the sideline rapping along to Young Jeezy’s song ‘Put On.’ The moment quickly went viral after somebody put the words to the song over the video — Twitter loved it.

His teammates loved it, too:

Even safety Tyrann Mathieu — who plays for the Chiefs, one of Denver’s rivals — gave the video some love on Twitter.

After the video went viral, somebody edited Lock’s Wikipedia page to say the quarterback is also an “amateur rap artist” who “spit bars from Young Jeezy’s song ‘Put On’ in his game against the Oakland Raiders.”

Young Jeezy himself clearly appreciated the video and re-shared it on his official Instagram page.

After the game, Lock didn’t even remember what song he was rapping along to but he did quip that he was “spittin’ though.” Juding from the responses on Twitter, most fans seem to agree with that assesment.

The video has over 13 million views on Twitter and more than 1 million views on Instagram. It’s safe to say Lock’s rapping is a hit.

Bradley Chubb hilariously ‘translates’ Courtland Sutton’s tweet after Pro Bowl snub

Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton was snubbed by Pro Bowl voters and linebacker Bradley Chubb is tweeting on his behalf.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton has played with three different quarterbacks this season and has managed to rack up over 1,000 receiving yards despite often being the No. 1 focus of opposing defenses.

Despite his brilliant year, Sutton was not voted to the 2020 Pro Bowl. Fans, coaches and players each accounted for one-third of the vote and Sutton ended up as a second-alternate for the All-Star game.

Asked by media members about the snub on Wednesday, Sutton simply said, “It is what it is.” Two days later, the receiver took to Twitter to thank those that did vote for him.

“I haven’t had a chance to thank everyone that took the time to vote for me for Pro Bowl,” Sutton wrote on Friday. “Although we didn’t make it, there are always positives. I’m going to continue to grow and develop my game while also continuing to have fun with the process. #AllLove #ThankYou.”

Broncos outside linebacker Bradley Chubb, who was a Pro Bowl alternate last year, hilariously quote-tweeted Sutton’s message with a “translation.”

Here’s how Sutton stacks up against the WRs that did make the Pro Bowl.

Player Yards YPC 20+yd REC TDs
Courtland Sutton 1,019 16.2 18 6
Jarvis Landry 1,018 13.3 17 5
Keenan Allen 1,046 11.6 14 5
Tyreek Hill 727 14.8 10 7
DeAndre Hopkins 1,142 11.5 16 7

As a second-alternate, Sutton will need two players to drop out to reach the Pro Bowl. Or, one player could drop out and if the first-alternate is unable to play in the game, Sutton could also make it that way.

The 2020 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 1:00 p.m. MT.

Jake Plummer posts funny video about Broncos QB Drew Lock’s ‘sweet move’

Broncos quarterback Drew Lock appeared to turn on fake hash marks with a foot stomp during Sunday’s snowy game against the Chiefs.

The Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs played Sunday’s game at Arrowhead Stadium in the middle of a pretty big snowstorm (these pictures from the game are amazing).

To try to help fans view the white hash marks on the field, CBS had digital hash marks appear on the field in green. The network must have had some glitches though because the fake lines appeared on and off throughout the game.

At one point in the second quarter, the digital hash marks clicked on at the exact moment that Broncos quarterback Drew Lock put his foot on the ground. Former quarterback Jake Plummer posted a video of the moment on Twitter and joked that Lock’s stomp was a “pretty sweet move.”

Some lighthearted fun is probably welcomed by fans in Denver after watching what was otherwise a forgettable performance from the Broncos. Up next for Denver are home games against the Lions and Raiders.

Broncos fans are probably willing to trade moments of humor for a few wins to close out the season, even if it means falling in the draft order.
