Elton John becomes the latest to join the prestigious EGOT crew with an Emmy win

It’s a prestigious group and a well-deserved honor.

The legendary singer Elton John became the 19th person in history to complete the difficult EGOT achievement, winning the elusive Emmy Award on Monday night at the 75th iteration of the awards show. EGOT status means someone has won at least one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony over the course of their career.

Stars like Rita Moreno, Aubrey Hepburn, Andrew Lloyd Weber and John Legend are among those that have accomplished the impressive feat.

John’s Emmy Award came for Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category.

He has won two Oscars in his career, both for Best Original Song with “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” from The Lion King in 1994 and “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” from Rocketman in 2019. His Tony came in the Best Original Score category for Aida in 2000. John has five Grammys and one Grammy Legend Award over his career.

A well-deserved honor for a legendary performer.

USC-UCLA game will clash with Elton John Dodger Stadium concert on Nov. 19

We hoped #USC – #UCLA would be a day game. There’s an Elton John concert at 8 on Nov. 19. L.A. fans must choose between the two. Traffic mess, too.

USC and UCLA fans still don’t know if their game will be a late-night game or an evening game on Saturday, Nov. 19. They do know, however, that Trojans-Bruins will not be a day game at 12:30 or 1 p.m. in Los Angeles.

That was the outcome everyone hoped for, primarily because USC-UCLA was meant to be played in glorious Southern California sunshine. The bright sun accentuates the double-home uniforms of USC Cardinal and Gold and UCLA’s gorgeous light blue.

The two other really big reasons everyone in Los Angeles wanted a day game for USC-UCLA:

  1. The College Football Playoff committee could see the game, as opposed to having it start late on the East Coast.
  2. There’s an Elton John concert at Dodger Stadium at 8 p.m. in L.A. on Nov. 19.

This is going to be a traffic nightmare.

Let’s talk about this some more and point out that Elton John has a history at Dodger Stadium:

Elton John announced at his concert that the Braves swept the Mets and fans loved it

Even Elton John is roasting the Mets.

For Braves fans everywhere, Sunday’s 5-3 win over the New York Mets was a huge deal. And yes, that includes Elton John.

The Braves, who had trailed the Mets by 10.5 games in the NL East on June 1, had gradually chipped away at that lead over the course of four months. Sunday’s win — which included one of the smartest plays of the season — to complete the sweep of the Mets virtually had the division locked up in Atlanta’s favor.

But those who attended Elton John’s concert Sunday night at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium probably didn’t expect to get their Braves updates from Elton John. Yet, it indeed happened in the middle of his farewell show.

Speaking to the crowd during his set, Elton John said:

“And something that makes me very happy tonight: The Braves swept the Mets.”

Now while that might seem random, Elton John is actually a huge Atlanta Braves fan. He’s had a home in Atlanta since the early 90s and was known to stop by the ballpark during the Bobby Cox years. And clearly, he still keeps up with the team.

Fans loved that video from the concert. We should all get our baseball updates from Elton John more often.

Even Alabama Football HC Nick Saban has people he admires. Here are a few

Nick Saban admires a lot of people that all have something in common.

Nick Saban is one of, if not, the most well-known and idolized people in the football world, and for good reason. Saban has won seven national titles, 10 SEC titles, countless coach of the year awards, a record number of first round draft picks, and the accolades go on and on.

So, who does the man at the top of the mountain idolize? It isn’t so much a person, as it is a life-style and commitment to excellence.

Saban said at the Nick Saban Legacy Award ceremony, “Well, look. Anybody in any profession who has had a tremendous amount of success, I have an admiration for that because I know how difficult it is. I don’t care if it’s in the music industry and you’re the Eagles or Michael Jackson or the Rolling Stones. Those people have been successful for a long, long time. Elton John. So I admire that.”

Two other people that really stood out to Saban were former guest speakers at Alabama in pre-season camps, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan.

“I admire Kobe Bryant. I admire Michael Jordan. Guys who were dominant for a long, long time and they did it on a very consistent basis because some people can be dominant for a little while, but it takes a special someone because it’s not really human nature to try to be the best you can be. It’s human nature to survive.”

Coach Saban knows that coming by success is no easy feat, but what is even more difficult is sustaining that success. As someone who has been at the top of his game for over a decade now, he has seen many people come and go while he’s stayed consistent. And he knows that difference between those that sustain success and don’t is a world of difference.

Everyone loved Elton John’s basketball hoop during his Global Citizen performance

Elton John has a sweet hoops setup.

Celebrities, comedians, and musicians are all lending their time and talents during tonight’s “One World: Together At Home” broadcast that is showing support for the World Health Organization and paying tribute to all of the healthcare workers/heroes who are working on the frontlines during the coronavirus pandemic.

Legendary singer Elton John performed early in the show, playing his classic hit “I’m Still Standing” and he did so in what looked like his driveway, which has a basketball hoop and some basketballs laying around.

Sports fans watching the performance on TV absolutely loved the hoops setup at Sir Elton John’s house:
