Larry David attacked Elmo on the Today Show, and the poor Muppet is having a rough week

Not a typo. Larry David really did assault Elmo.

Poor Elmo.

First, the little furry monster decided to ask on X (formerly Twitter) how everyone was doing, and everyone chose to respond with a lot of trauma dumping.

Elmo handled it well, as he always does. But then, while appearing on Thursday’s edition of Today, he was just sitting there, minding his own business … when fellow guest Larry David decided to walk over to the Muppet and clamp his mouth angrily.

I guess David was trying to do a bit of some sort? But people on X were mad at the Curb Your Enthusiasm star, as you’ll see below:

Social media traumatized Elmo after he simply asked how everyone was doing

No Elmo, we’re not doing fine.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Elmo deserved better.

Why, you ask? Because on Monday, Elmo — the beloved Sesame Street character and the last bastion of goodness and kindness in this world — was given the trauma dump of all trauma dumps by the internet at large.

It all started when Elmo — sweet, innocent Elmo — asked Twitter on Monday morning how things were going. And folks, the answer is not great! Whether it be overall world weariness of the general state of things in 2024 or you’re a Detroit Lions fan still reeling from the team’s NFC title game collapse, the internet at large is just not feeling too hot right now.

And you know what? I get it. It’s late January. It’s cold outside. I haven’t seen the sun in days and I could use the world’s longest nap right about now. But thanks to the internet, Elmo is now traumatized after bearing the weight of the world’s problems on his little red shoulders. Even Sesame Street‘s Twitter had to step in on Elmo’s behalf to send out a very important reminder about mental health!

You deserve better, Elmo. Thank you for listening to our problems when no one else will.

Lizzo played a cookie flute for Elmo on Sesame Street before Cookie Monster ate it

Do not let the Cookie Monster near a cookie flute. It will not go well.

While Sesame Street has always come through for outrageously great celebrity cameos, this recent appearance by music sensation Lizzo might take the (cookie) cake for 2023.

In a segment posted on Twitter, Lizzo and Elmo admire a flute made of chocolate chip cookie. It’s both an homage to Lizzo’s famous ability to play the flute, and, y’know, the Cookie Monster would probably eat it.

As you could guess, the blue monster enters frame soon after and devours Lizzo’s cookie flute after the latter gets in a little playing time. On Sesame Street, you can play a cookie flute, and no one will ask questions.

What Cookie Monster does after consuming the cookie flute is actually pretty impressive, even for Sesame Street standards.

Look, we’re not saying that you’ll be able to play your torso like a flute if you consume a cookie flute, but we’re not saying you can’t, either. Clearly the Cookie Monster could. Set your goals high!

Lizzo is having a fantastic 2023 so far, and this Sesame Street appearance has to be near the top of the list.

The Rock has the best response to Elmo and his fight with Rocco the rock

The Rock has broken his silence on this important feud.

Since the calendar flipped to 2022, the internet has completely invested itself in Elmo’s hilarious beef with Rocco, a pet rock of Zoe’s in Sesame Street.

Part of the reason the internet has been captivated by this saga is how incredibly unhinged and also just completely exasperated Elmo — a fuzzy red muppet — becomes when around Zoe and Rocco. Also, of course, are the funny, completely accurate memes keeping this fight alive.

And now, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has broken his silence on this spat.

On Wednesday, Elmo — on his very real and legitimate Twitter account — spoke on his continuing friendship with Zoe, but had no comment on Rocco’s part in all of this. After just asking the question if anyone’s ever seen a rock eat a cookie before, Johnson jumped in with his answer.

This saga between Elmo and Rocco just gets better and better with each passing day, honestly. Sure, The Rock may eat cookies but the jury is still out on Rocco.

Mike Golic Jr. weighs in on Elmo vs. Rocco feud

You have a take on this feud?

Before broadcasting, Mike Golic Jr. made himself known as a key member of Notre Dame’s offensive line. Now following in his father’s footsteps as a broadcaster for ESPN, Golic continues to grow his audience. That means people are interested in what he has to say.

However, did anyone expect him to talk about an old beef between Elmo of “Sesame Street” and an inanimate pet rock on the show? Earlier this week, the internet became obsessed with this old clip:

Elmo made a couple of tweets about the matter, and one of them prompted a response from Golic:

The mention of Dwayne Johnson and even Golic’s involvement both are irrelevant though. The real issue at hand is Zoe pushed the normally friendly Elmo to his breaking point for the sake of revolving everything around her pet rock. That’s not cool, and, if anyone reading this actually is defending Zoe, well, just watch this:

Elmo’s hilarious beef with a Rocco the rock — yes, a rock! — explained

The internet just found out Elmo’s mortal enemy is a rock and it’s hilarious

Unless you’ve been living under a rock your entire life, you know who Elmo is.

He’s the little red muppet from Sesame Street who literally seems to be friends with everyone. He’s always so nice and encouraging and always trying to learn about new things which is also why he’s a staple in so many toddler-filled households.

That’s on the screen. Off it, Elmo makes a great doll. The Tickle-Me Elmo toys have also had the toddler community in a chokehold for decades now. The kids love those things. I’m pretty sure I had one at some point in my life, too.

Elmo is just the sweetest thing in the world. Except for…when it comes to one thing. A rock. Yes, a rock.

Rocco the rock to be specific. Let me explain.
