Sweet 16 first look: Duke vs. Houston odds, lines and trends

What you need to know: NCAA Tournament early look at Friday’s Duke vs. Houston Sweet 16 odds.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The 4th-seeded Duke Blue Devils (26-8) meet the No. 1 seed Houston Cougars (32-4) Friday in a Sweet 16 matchup at American Airlines Center in Dallas. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:39 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we look at Duke vs. Houston odds from BetMGM Sportsbook before making our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Duke, No. 14 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, has had a bit of a cakewalk thus far in the tourney with a 64-47 win over Vermont in the opening round and a 93-55 monstrosity over James Madison in the 2nd round. G Jared McCain led the way against JMU with 30 points on 8-of-11 from downtown, the most 3-pointers in school history in an NCAA Tournament game. He’s shooting the 3-ball at a 58.8% clip (10 for 17) in the tourney.

Houston, No. 2 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, had to grind out an overtime win with a 100-95 final over Texas A&M Sunday night in the round of 32. Several key players fouled out, but the Cougars were able to hit enough free throws to hold off the Aggies. G Jamal Shead had 21 points and 10 assists while logging 45 minutes. The Cougars had an easier time with 16-seeded Longwood in a 86-46 opening-round victory.

Duke vs. Houston head-to-head

This will be the 1st-ever meeting between the schools in men’s basketball.

Duke went 2-3 against ranked opponents this season. G Jeremy Roach left the last game briefly after injuring his left pinkie. He returned 2 minutes later with his fingers wrapped. The Dukies were upended in the 2nd round last year 65-52 by Tennessee.

The Cougars were 6-2 against ranked foes this year. They made it to the Sweet 16 last year before falling 89-75 to the Miami Hurricanes. Houston’s campus is just 3 hours away from this venue, and they’ll have that advantage with the crowd.

First look: Duke at Louisville odds and lines

Looking at Saturday’s Duke at Louisville college football odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Duke Blue Devils (5-2, 2-1 ACC) meet the Louisville Cardinals (6-1, 3-1) on Saturday at Cardinal Stadium in Louisville, Ky. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we look at Duke vs. Louisville odds from FanDuel Sportsbook. Also see: SportsbookWire’s college football picks and predictions.

The Blue Devils held a surprising 20-17 lead at halftime of their game at Florida State on Saturday, but the Seminoles outscored Duke 21-0 in the final 15 minutes for the 38-20 win. Duke failed to cover the 13.5-point number as the Over (49) cashed. After a 4-0 straight up (SU) and 3-1 against the spread (ATS) start, the Blue Devils are 1-2 SU/ATS in the past 3 games.

The Cardinals have been stewing for 2 weeks after a stunning loss at Pittsburgh as a 7-point favorite, falling 38-21. That snapped a 6-game win streak to start the season, including a signature win over Notre Dame on Oct. 7. The Cards are both 3-3-1 ATS and OU so far this season.

Duke is No. 21 and Louisville is No. 18 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-1) travel to meet the Duke Blue Devils (4-0) on Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Below, we look at Notre Dame vs. Duke odds from FanDuel Sportsbook. Also see: SportsbookWire’s college football picks and predictions.

The Fighting Irish will be fighting mad after losing a marquee matchup against Ohio State on the final play of regulation. Notre Dame led 14-10 with :03 left in regulation, but the Buckeyes punched in a 1-yard touchdown to stun the Fighting Irish in their place. Notre Dame still covered, and it is 4-1 against the spread (ATS) this season.

The Blue Devils routed the UConn Huskies in East Hartford by a 41-7 score, with the only drama coming for total bettors. Duke led 41-0 with a total of 45.5, but Under bettors saw UConn break the shutout, and flip the total to an Over result, with just 12 ticks remaining in the game. First look: Clemson at Duke odds and lines

Looking at Monday’s Clemson at Duke college football odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Clemson Tigers and the Duke Blue Devils open the regular season on Monday. Sept. 4, at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we look at Clemson at Duke odds from BetMGM Sportsbook. Also see: SportsbookWire’s college football picks and predictions.

The Tigers posted 11 victories last season, which gives Clemson 12 straight campaigns with 10 or more wins. It was a season of transition, as QB D.J. Uiagalelei started as the signal caller, but prospect QB Cade Klubnik finished as the starter. Klubnik is the future, and Uiagalelei is now at Oregon State. Klubnik must take another step forward if the team wants to get back in the national title picture.

The Blue Devils hired a new coach last season, as Mike Elko replaced the popular David Cutcliffe. Duke surprisingly won 8 regular-season games and its bowl in Elko’s debut, led by QB Riley Leonard. The schedule is brutal for the Blue Devils this season, including the opener against a top-10 team.

Clemson is No. 9 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

Final Four first look: North Carolina vs. Duke odds and lines

Analyzing Saturday’s North Carolina vs. Duke odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The North Carolina Tar Heels (28-9) and Duke Blue Devils (32-6) clash in a Final Four showdown Saturday in New Orleans. The rivalry battle at the Superdome is slated for an 8:49 tip-off. Below, we look at the North Carolina vs. Duke odds and lines; check back for our college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The further we get down the road in these brackets, the more the journey has come to look like the backroads of Carolina. And now we edge closer to a rivalry that dates back more than a century — one with 256 games under its belt. But none like this.

North Carolina — the No. 8 seed from the East Region — is the fastest-paced team remaining in the tournament. The Tar Heels have averaged 77.5 points per game in going 11-1 since Feb. 19. Like their foes in this game, they are exceptional in keeping opposing shooters off the foul line. UNC is also a terrific defensive rebounding team.

Duke has advanced from the No. 2 seed in the East Region. The 10th-ranked team in the nation won the regular-season crown in the ACC. Head coach Mike Krzyzewski‘s final five in Durham is a young group but one among the best offensive teams in NCAA-I. Across four tourney games. the Devils have shot a robust 53.8% from the field.
