7-Round Cowboys mock draft with athleticism profiles, roles for each prospect

Here’s a look at who Dallas could select, but more importantly how they’d be used if brought to the Cowboys. OL gets two, but CB, WR and RB get boosts. | From @KDDrummondNFL

The toughest part about doing a mock draft simulation where AI makes picks for the 31 teams you don’t control, is what happens when prospects you have no belief will actually slide, slide. Do you pick them, knowing that in real life there’s always going to be a handful of players who the draft community is way off from NFL front office evaluations?

Do you bypass them, searching for the nexus of realism and function? The simple answer is… it doesn’t matter. Mock drafts are fun, but they are thought exercises that give one of a gazillion possibilities and shouldn’t be taken any more seriously than your morning Wordle-Quordle streaks starting over.

In our latest mock, we run into this problem with a player who was under heavy consideration in Round 2, somehow making it to Round 3. If that player dropped in real life, Dallas would more than likely sprint to the podium. So who are we to deny the fates given us by the AI overlords?

Chris Simms’ top 5 quarterbacks in 2023 NFL draft

The former NFL quarterback has a surprise order in his rankings.

With the Washington Commanders owning the 16th position in the upcoming 2023 NFL draft, Commanders Wire begins a series of looking at the top five players at each position.

Pro Football Talk’s Chris Simms has begun his annual film study and evaluation of each position.

Today we learn Simms’ top-5 quarterbacks in the class of 2023. Interestingly enough, when it comes to the quarterbacks, Simms determined that two quarterbacks really should not be separated. Consequently, he has the two tied for the fifth spot.

“I want all these six guys to be in the top five because if somebody gets ranked sixth, they’ll get left out of the conversation,” explained Simms.

Vikings 2023 7-round mock draft: Matt Anderson’s 8.0

As we continue exploring different situations with the Vikings and the NFL draft, the latest one has them trading out of round one.

The Minnesota Vikings have addressed a lot of key needs this offseason with free agent signings as well as bringing back players from last year’s roster.

Now that we’ve seen the moves they’ve made, it gives us a better idea of how this Vikings front office might approach the draft. In this mock draft, I tried to think about the way that general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has attacked this offseason, which is targeting players with upside who are versatile.

One note before we start: we will be using Pro Football Focus’ mock draft simulator and the Rich Hill trade chart for any trades. Let’s take a look at how it unfolded.

Post-Combine Mock Draft: Browns add explosive WR, reshape defense

The Browns add Josh Downs and a ton of defensive talent in this post-combine mock draft

The NFL Scouting Combine has come to a close as the 2023 NFL Draft process progresses one step closer to the main event. And for the Cleveland Browns, that means taking strides toward getting back into the playoffs by infusing their roster with young talent. While the Browns do not have a first round pick for two more seasons, they do have eight picks to attack the draft with this year. Could a name like North Carolina’s Josh Downs join the squad this upcoming April as they look to mold a more explosive passing attack in 2023?

As the combine has concluded, here is a mock draft adjusting to board movement based on risers and fallers in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Which combine standouts should the Browns have their eyes on?

The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine has come to an end, and plenty of valuable information has been sprinkled onto the field and in interviews for the Cleveland Browns to pull from. From Cincinnati wide receiver Tyler Scott to others, there were quite a bit of fits for the Browns that stood out during their time in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Who were they and how did they perform at the combine? Some old, some young as the Browns have proven to expand their age guardrail in the later rounds, here is one combine standout per position who the Browns should have on their radar as they look to get their roster back into playoff contention.

5 quarterbacks for the Eagles to watch at the 2023 NFL combine

We’re looking at 5 quarterback prospects for the Philadelphia Eagles to watch at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine

Indianapolis is the center of the NFL world this week and all eyes will be on the quarterback throwing at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Saturday’s workouts will include four projected top-ten picks with Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, Kentucky quarterback Will Levis and Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Philadelphia is all about developing quarterbacks, and even with Jalen Hurts reaching All-Pro and MVP status, the 49ers proved that you can never have enough quality arms on the roster or practice squad.

We’re looking at five quarterback prospects at the combine who could intrigue the Eagles in the mid to late rounds, or even in undrafted free agency.

The Minnesota Vikings have met with these players at the combine

In their time at the NFL Scouting Combine, the Vikings have met with these players with more to come

The NFL Scouting Combine is a place to gather information on prospects both as people and with their athletic testing. These are important to know so you can see if the player’s projection is correct or not.

Each team meets with numerous prospects and the Minnesota Vikings are no exception. So far, they have reportedly met with more than a dozen prospects with more to come.

Here is who we know the Vikings have met with so far.

Eagles met with UCLA QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson at NFL Combine

The Philadelphia Eagles and team brass reportedly met with former UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson

The Eagles are all about developing quarterbacks and a player that made our NFL combine sleepers list recently met with team brass.

According to Devin Jackson of The Inquirer, Philadelphia had an NFL combine meeting and greet with former UCLA quarterback, Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

During his final season with former Eagles head coach Chip Kelly, Thompson-Robinson completed 69.6 percent of his passes for 3,169 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions for the Bruins in 2022, adding 12 rushing touchdowns.

In total at UCLA, the 23-year-old signal-caller completed 63.3 percent of his passes for 10,710 yards, 88 touchdowns, and 36 interceptions in his five seasons.

Similar to Jalen Hurts in size and stature(6-1, 205), Thompson-Robinson was efficient on the ground as well totaling 1,826 rushing yards in his career, including a career-high 645 yards last season.

Browns meet with potential backup QB candidate at NFL Scouting Combine

The Browns have met with a quarterback at the combine.

The Cleveland Browns will have to move on from quarterback Jacoby Brissett as he will likely get an opportunity to start again elsewhere in 2023. The Arizona Cardinals, with the hire of his quarterbacks coach Drew Petzing as their offensive coordinator and the injury to Kyler Murray, make a great deal of sense for Brissett. While they still have Kellen Mond on their roster, currently slated as their backup quarterback, they have also met with a candidate at the NFL Scouting Combine in UCLA’s Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Thompson-Robinson, a four-year starter for the Bruins, racked up nearly 3,200 yards through the air and 27 touchdowns in 2022. He added another 645 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground as well. As the Browns look to transition to more shotgun action, perhaps a quarterback like Thompson-Robinson is a great fit behind Deshaun Watson.
