Ravens release second injury report for Week 13 matchup vs. Broncos

The Ravens release the second injury report in preparation for Week 13 against the Broncos

The Baltimore Ravens host the Denver Broncos in a Week 13 showdown at M&T Bank Stadium.  Baltimore is looking to bring their overall record to 8-4 on the season and stay atop the AFC North Standings, while Denver is looking to improve to 4-8 on the year.

The second injury report for the Ravens was released on Thursday, and the list of players increased from the first report put out on Wednesday. The good news is the quarterback Lamar Jackson was a full participant on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday, as was rookie tight end Isaiah Likely.  The only player that didn’t practice who wasn’t dealing with an illness or given a rest day was outside linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips who is dealing with a quad injury.

Hopefully getting back offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley and safety Kyle Hamilton back and ready for Week 13 is huge. Both have logged two limited practices over the course of two days, with Friday’s practice session being telling as to whether either will play on Sunday.

Ravens awarded LB Del’Shawn Phillips off of waivers from Jets

The Ravens were awarded linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips off of waivers from the New York Jets

The Baltimore Ravens got their roster down to 53 players on Tuesday at 4pm EST, putting together their initial team. They moved on from multiple talented players, but after accumulating so much quality depth some tough decisions were in store.

The waiver period to claim players ended at 12pm EST on Wednesday, and Baltimore was awarded one player in linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips, formerly of the New York Jets. He will slot in with the Ravens’ defense, but could see most of his time on special teams, where he’s excelled over the course of his NFL career so far through two seasons on the field.

Phillips signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois in 2019, but was waived during final roster cuts. He latched on with the Buffalo Bills shortly thereafter, appearing in two games for the team before signing with the New York Jets in 2021. He can play both linebacker positions, and has totaled 31 tackles as well as one sack in 19 career games.

Jets elevate LB Del’Shawn Phillips and S Adrian Colbert from practice squad for Week 2

Adrian Colbert and Del’Shawn Phillips could see sizable roles against the Patriots after a bevy of Jets injuries.

Two Jets practice squad members are back on the active roster for Week 2.

New York promoted linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips and safety Adrian Colbert for Gang Green’s Week 2 matchup with the Patriots. Both played in the Jets’ Week 1 loss to the Panthers after injuries forced them into action.

Phillips played 57 snaps at outside linebacker against Carolina after Jamien Sherwood and Blake Cashman left with injuries. Neither will play this week, which gives Phillips the inside track to start if the Jets aren’t comfortable with recently signed B.J. Goodson just yet. Phillips ended up leading the Jets with 11 tackles.

Colbert stepped in after Lamarcus Joyner left with an injury in the first quarter and Sheldrick Redwine gave up a long touchdown to Robby Anderson in the second. He finished with three tackles in 34 snaps.

Sean McDermott: Tremaine Edmunds, Matt Milano injuries not long-term

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott updates the injury status of linebackers Tremaine Edmunds, Matt Milano following win vs. Jets.

Still being a ways away from transparent, Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott did indicate some good news in regard to the health of some of the team’s very important pieces on defense that were injured against the Jets in their season-opening win.

Both of the Bills’ starting linebackers, Tremaine Edmunds (shoulder) and Matt Milano (hamstring) were injured in the game. But it turns out they might not miss playing time after all. According to McDermott via video conference on Monday, all linebacker injuries sustained in Week 1 one are “pretty much” not long-term.

“They don’t appear to be long-term injuries at this point, based on what we know. So we’ll put them in the day-to-day category and we’ll continue to update you guys as we get information,” McDermott said.

Milano exited the game just prior to halftime while McDermott said that Edmunds was hurt when he attempted to tackle Jets wide receiver Jamison Crowder on his 69-yard touchdown in the second half. Worst case scenario, Edmunds could have suffered a dislocation or bone break. McDermott’s comments lead one to believe that this was not the case, though.

But Milano has had a history of hamstring injuries, so his situation might be the one to closely monitor this week.

Along with the two starters, two backups were injured as well against the Jets. Del’Shawn Phillips and Tyrel Dodson, who recorded his first-career sack in the win, also both left the game. However, McDermott grouped those four all together with his “pretty much” comment.

The Bills’ next official injury report will not come until Wednesday when the club turns their attention to their Week 2 opponent, the Miami Dolphins (0-1).
