Though he was snubbed earlier today by the Coaches All-SEC First Team, Gators quarterback Kyle Trask has a chance for redemption during award season.
The redshirt senior passer was named a finalist for the Davey O’Brien Award on Tuesday, which is given annually to the nation’s top quarterback. He is joined by fellow finalist Mac Jones from Alabama and Trevor Lawrence from Clemson.
Trask would be the third Florida player to win the award, as Danny Wuerffel won it twice in 1995 and 1996, and Tim Tebow won it in 2007.
His numbers on the year are impressive, as he leads the FBS in total touchdowns and passing touchdowns (46 and 43, respectively), as well as passing yards (4,125).
Jones has 3,739 yards, 32 touchdowns and four interceptions, while Lawrence has 2,753 yards, 22 touchdowns and four interceptions.
Fans can vote on who they think should win the award until polls close on Dec. 30. The winner will be announced during The Home Depot College Football Awards on Jan. 7.
