Oregon was on a national stage this week and took advantage of it, throttling Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes.
“Don’t make me angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.”
Those words were calmly said by actor Bill Bixby as Dr. David Banner in the 1970s television show The Incredible Hulk.
Apparently, it goes for Oregon as well.
The Ducks were angry this week with the hype train and the circus that is Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes. The result was Oregon kicking the Buffs’ you-know-what up and down the Autzen Stadium field 42-6 in front of a national TV audience.
Colorado turned the mild-mannered Ducks into the green monster and dearly paid for its mistake.
The Ducks stomped all over Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes. They never let up, either.
The Oregon Ducks were ready for this one.
The Oregon fans were ready as well.
So when Dan Lanning and the Ducks went up early over the Colorado Buffaloes, and then continued to pour it on throughout the contest, it was a pretty fun afternoon for Oregon fans on social media. A lot of jokes were made at the expense of Deion Sanders and his team, and a lot of rejoice was felt by fans who were tired of the constant chatter they’d head about the Buffs so far this year.
The Ducks ended up blowing out Colorado, 42-6. It will go down as one of the biggest statement wins in the world of college football this weekend. Here are some of the best reactions to the day from Oregon fans and the national media at large:
“They’re fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins.” Dan Lanning burned down social media with his pregame speech on Saturday.
“They’re fighting for clicks! We’re fighting for wins!”
It’s a phrase that would do well on a T-shirt and given Oregon’s marketing history, don’t be surprised to see these at the Duck Store soon.
Dan Lanning was giving a pre-game speech before the big contest with Colorado and it seems to have worked with the way the Ducks played in the first half.
His message was Oregon football has substance and Colorado, with their coach Deion Sanders, is all talk with zero substance.
Social media has been on fire ever since ABC showed Lanning’s talk with his team right before they took the field. Here are some of the best out there.
Oregon was off to a swift start against Deion and the Buffaloes
Oregon was out and winging against Deion Sanders and Colorado on Saturday.
The Ducks led 13-0 late in the first quarter thanks to a pair of touchdowns.
On the second scoring drive, they got help from the Buffaloes who were called for a personal foul on a play that would have set up up a fourth down and then were offsides later in the drive.
The touchdown play that made the lead double digits saw Bo Nix look like was going to run before throwing a pass to Casey Kelly, who bulled his way into the end zone.
You’re supposed to do this after you win, not before kickoff
No. 19 Colorado faces its toughest test yet on Saturday by traveling to Oregon for a ranked matchup against the No. 10 Ducks.
Already a 21-point underdog, the Buffaloes have a lot working against them this week: The loss of Travis Hunter, an opposing Heisman candidate QB and one of the toughest road environments in college football at Autzen Stadium.
So you’d think the Buffaloes would land in Oregon with their heads down and focused on the task ahead without giving any extra edge to their opponents. You would also be wrong.
As video from Colorado’s road trip shows, the Buffaloes arrived for their walkthrough at Autzen Stadium and promptly made themselves at home on the midfield logo — by stomping on it.
Keep in mind, this is the same Colorado team that took umbrage to Nebraska holding a meeting on the midfield logo before their Week 2 matchup in Boulder.
Deion Sanders has done everything he can to take any outside comments made about the Buffs and turn it into fuel.
Be it from doubters, or haters or neutral observers, Sanders has made it clear that he’ll take everything about his team personally. And his players have followed his lead.
So you have to wonder why oh why the Buffaloes would turn around and give Oregon the type of motivation Colorado has been thriving on.
Colorado players decided to disrespect the Oregon logo before the Pac-12 game
As if there weren’t enough feelings heading into Saturday’s Pac-12 clash between Colorado and Oregon, Deion Sanders’ Buffs decided to up the ante.
Hours before the game at Autzen Field, Colorado players took to the gridiron and decided it was a good idea to walk all over the “O” on Oregon’s turf.
Fortunately, at that point no Ducks were around but one can be certain it won’t go unnoticed.
Listen I’m not in Oregon’s locker room anymore but this is the type of sh*t that fires me up. That O represents a ton of hard work, sacrifice, and success from so many people. Walking over/raking up an opponent’s logo shows zero class. #goducks Enough said. pic.twitter.com/sdcNOIDPTe
Colorado buffaloes arrive in Eugene, OR and one of their players decides to get Dis-respectful and make it “personal” by scraping his cleat into the Oregon “O” logo at mid field 👀🫢😳
Duck fans react to Colorado player scuffing up midfield logo at Autzen Stadium before game.
All season, Colorado Buffaloes’ head coach has made a point to keep all of his receipts, listen to all of the talking, and declare that many of the teams that have played against him have “made it personal” by disrespecting his squad in some way, shape, or form.
There are a couple of things that Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks arguably have done already this year to “make it personal,” whether it be preseason comments about Colorado before Sanders got there, or comments on Friday about Youtube videos. However, a player on Sanders’ team just made it very personal for the Ducks, appearing to scuff up the midfield logo at Autzen Stadium with his foot and disrespect the Oregon O before the game on Friday.
As you would expect, Oregon fans were not happy to see this. Here are some of the best reactions on social media to the video.
This is going to be an incredible weekend of college football. Here are the most important games for Oregon fans to pay attention to.
If we were to view the first three weeks of the college football season as an appetizer, then Saturday is the beginning of the main course. While non-conference play is behind us in more of the nation, we get a total of six matchups between ranked teams on Saturday afternoon and night, with some major inter-league battles that could have major ramifications when it comes to conference championships down the road.
In the Pac-12, there are a ton of games that Duck fans need to tune into outside of Oregon’s top-20 battle against the Colorado Buffaloes, and there are some matchups nationwide that Duck fans should tune into as well.
Here’s a quick viewing guide on everything you should be paying attention to this weekend:
