LSU men’s basketball assistant coach [autotag]Cody Toppert[/autotag] is leaving after one season to become the head coach of the Capital City Go-Go, the G League affiliate of the NBA’s Washington Wizards.
The news was reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Toppert spent the 2022-23 season with the Tigers after coach [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] hired him away from Memphis, where he spent three seasons as an assistant. Prior to that, Toppert spent one year as an assistant for the Phoenix Suns.
This will be Toppert’s second stint as a G League head coach after he spent the 2017-18 season leading the Phoenix affiliate Northern Arizona Suns.

Now, LSU has an open position on its staff to fill following a turnover-heavy offseason as the team looks to bounce back from a disappointing first season under McMahon.
