St. Louis Cardinals at Cleveland Indians odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s St. Louis Cardinals at Cleveland Indians odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The St. Louis Cardinals (51-50) and Cleveland Indians (49-49) play the finale of a two-game interleague set Wednesday at Progressive Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Cardinals vs. Indians odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Kwang Hyun Kim is the projected starting pitcher for the Cardinals. He is 6-5 with a 2.88 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 7.2 K/9 and 3.0 BB/9 over 84 1/3 innings across 17 starts.

Kim has four consecutive wins and quality starts in July, going 4-0 with a 0.72 ERA. He had 25 consecutive scoreless innings before allowing 2 runs to the Chicago Cubs Thursday. Kim has allowed just 2 runs on 13 hits and 6 walks in 25 innings in July.

RHP Zach Plesac is the projected starting pitcher for the Indians. He is 5-3 with a 4.30 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 5.7 K/9 and 1.8 BB/9 over 75 1/3 IP spanning 13 starts.

Plesac was knocked around for 4 earned runs on 8 hits and 2 walks with 3 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Tampa Bay Rays. Still, he has four straight winning decisions, and he hasn’t lost in nine starts dating back to April 20.

Cardinals at Indians odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 2:43 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Cardinals -105 (bet $105 to win $100) | Indians -115 (bet $115 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Cardinals -1.5 (+155) | Indians +1.5 (-190)
  • Over/Under: 8.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

Cardinals 5, Indians 2

Money line (ML)

The CARDINALS (-105) are looking for the two-game interleague sweep, and they’ll get it behind the red-hot Kim.

The Indians have struggled putting runs on the board lately, which was certainly the case in Tuesday’s 4-2 loss. Look for Kim to continue to keep the Indians down.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

CARDINALS -1.5 (+155) pushed across a run in the ninth inning to cover the run line Tuesday. They’ll do so again Wednesday.

It’s hard to imagine the Indians cobbling together much in the way of offense against the South Korean southpaw.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 8.5 (-110) is a huge value play. First off, the teams have a quick turnaround after playing Tuesday night.

Second, Kim has been red-hot, the Indians offense has struggled, and Plesac hasn’t been too shabby over the past couple of months.

Look for runs to be at a premium.

St. Louis Cardinals at Cleveland Indians odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s St. Louis Cardinals at Cleveland Indians odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The St. Louis Cardinals (50-50) and Cleveland Indians (49-48) play the opener of a two-game interleague set Tuesday at Progressive Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Cardinals vs. Indians odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Adam Wainwright is the projected starting pitcher for the Cardinals. He is 7-6 with a 3.56 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 8.4 K/9 and 2.4 BB/9 over 118 2/3 innings across 19 starts.

Wainwright allowed one earned run, six hits and no walks with five strikeouts across seven innings in a no-decision against the Chicago Cubs  Wednesday.

He has actually faced the Indians this season yielding just two runs, three hits and no walks with six strikeouts across seven innings in a win June 9 in St. Louis.

RHP Cal Quantrill is the projected starting pitcher for the Indians. He is 2-2 with a 3.84 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 6.2 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9 over 72 2/3 IP spanning 10 starts and 18 relief appearances.

Quantrill was quite effective last time out Thursday allowing just one run, four hits and three walks across six innings in a no-decision against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Q faced the Cardinals July 9 working two scoreless innings in a relief appearance allowing a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.

Cardinals at Indians odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 7:20 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Cardinals -110 (bet $110 to win $100) | Indians -110 (bet $110 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Cardinals -1.5 (+140) | Indians +1.5 (-165)
  • Over/Under: 9 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

Cardinals 4, Indians 1

Money line (ML)

The CARDINALS (-110) are the play in this interleague opener against the Indians (-110). It’s all about pitching, and Waino dominated the Tribe earlier this season. Quantrill pitched well last time, and this one will be tough, but look for the road team to win it here.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

CARDINALS -1.5 (+140) is a great value on the run line. The Indians +1.5 (-165) have had difficulty scoring runs lately posting just 3.6 runs per game across the past 10 outings. Wainwright shut them down in early July in a start in St. Louis. Look for the Cleveland bats to remains cool.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 9 (-105) is the play here, as again, the Indians have had trouble pushing runs across the plate lately. The Cardinals have allowed three or fewer runs in six of the past 11 outings, and they’ll do it again here.

Tampa Bay Rays at Cleveland Indians odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Tampa Bay Rays at Cleveland Indians odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Rays (60-39) and Cleveland Indians (48-48) play the finale of a four-game set Sunday at Progressive Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rays vs. Indians odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Ryan Yarbrough is the projected starting pitcher for the Rays. He is 6-4 with a 4.59 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 7.4 K/9 and 1.7 BB/9 over 102 innings across 14 starts and 5 relief appearances.

RHP Triston McKenzie is the projected starting pitcher for the Indians. He is 1-4 with a 5.91 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, 12.0 K/9 and 6.9 BB/9 across 53 1/3 innings in 12 starts and 1 relief appearance.

McKenzie was blasted for five runs, eight hits and a walk in just four innings in a loss at the Houston Astros Tuesday. That outing came on the heels of seven scoreless innings of one-hit ball against the Kansas City Royals July 9 prior to the All-Star break.

MLB betting offers/promotions

BetMGM Sportsbook offers available in CO, IA, IN, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA, WV and Washington D.C. New customer offers, terms and conditions apply.

Rays at Indians odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 7:21 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Rays -160 (bet $160 to win $100) | Indians +135 (bet $100 to win $135)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Rays -1.5 (-105) | Indians +1.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under: 10 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

Rays 7, Indians 4

Money line (ML)

The RAYS (-160) will take the series finale and complete a four-game sweep. They are 8-6 in Yarbrough’s 14 starts this season.

For the Indians, McKenzie has been a bit erratic as Cleveland is 2-5 across his past seven outings.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The RAYS -1.5 (-105) are worth a roll of the dice on the run line. As mentioned above, the Indians are 2-5 in McKenzie’s past seven starts, and they have lost by two or more runs in four of those five setbacks.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 10 (-110) is the play Sunday.

The Over has connected in three of the past four starts by McKenzie, while going 7-3 over his past 10 outings.

Tampa Bay Rays at Cleveland Indians odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Tampa Bay Rays at Cleveland Indians odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Cleveland Indians (48-47) play the Tampa Bay Rays (59-39) in the third game of their four-game series at Progressive Field Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rays vs. Indians odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Tampa Bay won the first two games of this series by a combined score of 15-9 but needed a 2-run rally in the ninth inning to steal Thursday’s series opener before pummelling the Indians 10-5 Friday.

Season series: Rays lead 5-0.

RHP Drew Rasmussen takes the hill for the Rays. He is 0-1 with a 4.55 ERA (29 2/3 IP, 15 ER), 25 H, 16 BB and 42 K through one start and 22 relief appearances with the Rays and Milwaukee Brewers this season.

  • Last outing: No-decision in 2 IP with 0 ER, 0 H, 1 BB and 2 K in Tampa Bay’s 6-1 loss against the Baltimore Orioles Monday.
  • Rasmussen is expected to be used as an opener in a bullpen day as he hasn’t pitched more than 2 innings in an outing this season.

RHP J.C. Mejia is Cleveland’s projected starter. He is 1-5 with a 7.53 ERA (34 2/3 IP, 29 ER), 1.44 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and 9.1 K/9 across eight starts and three relief appearances.

  • Last outing: Loss, 4-3, with 4 1/3 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 2 BB and 8 K Monday at the Houston Astros.
  • 2021 home stats: 1-4 with an 8.34 ERA (22 2/3 IP, 21 ER), 1.59 WHIP and 2.6 KBB through six starts and one relief appearance.

Rays at Indians odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 1 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Rays -160 (bet $160 to win $100) | Indians +135 (bet $100 to win $135)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Rays -1.5 (-105) | Indians +1.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under: 10.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Rays 9, Indians 5

Money line (ML)

“Sharp” money has steamed the RAYS (-160) down to their current price from the -125 opener because Tampa Bay’s bullpen is the best in the majors in xFIP, SIERA, K-BB% and WAR. It also has the fifth-lowest HR/9.

Also, Mejia is Cleveland’s sixth-most used starting pitcher this season. He likely wouldn’t be included in the rotation if it weren’t for the injuries of starting RHPs Shane Bieber (shoulder) and Aaron Civale (finger).

While Cleveland’s bullpen has been strong this season, Indians relievers were shelled in Friday’s meeting and have been mediocre in the four games since the All-Star break.

I’d BET 1 unit on the RAYS (-160). If your standard unit of wager in MLB is $100 then put that on Tampa Bay’s money line to hopefully earn a $62.50 profit.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

I’m going to PASS even though three of Tampa Bay’s five wins against Cleveland were by at least 2 runs. The Rays are 10-13 ATS as road favorites.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET the OVER 10.5 (-105) for 1 unit because Tampa Bay has played to the Over as a road favorite at the highest rate in the majors (16-5-2 O/U) and Cleveland is 10-6-1 O/U as a home underdog.

Plus, both bullpens are a little overworked so there’s a good chance we’ll be seeing less effective relievers Saturday.

Tampa Bay Rays at Cleveland Indians odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Tampa Bay Rays at Cleveland Indians odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Rays (57-39) and Cleveland Indians (48-45) play the opener of a four-game set Thursday at Progressive Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rays vs. Indians odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Luis Patino is the projected starting pitcher for the Rays. He is 1-2 with a 4.87 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 10.6 K/9 and 2.2 BB/9 across 20 1/3 innings, spanning 4 starts and 2 relief appearances.

Patino was hammered for seven runs (five earned) and seven hits with a walk and five strikeouts across 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays in Buffalo, N.Y., in his most recent showing July 2.

RHP Cal Quantrill is the projected starting pitcher for the Indians. He is 2-2 with a 4.05 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 6.5 K/9 and 3.0 BB/9 across 66 2/3 innings, spanning 9 starts and 18 relief appearances.

Quantrill has won consecutive starts, including a win at the Oakland A’s Saturday. He allowed just one run, four hits and two walks with five strikeouts to level his record at 2-2.

Rays at Indians odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 4:34 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Rays -145 (bet $145 to win $100) | Indians +120 (bet $100 to win $120)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Rays -1.5 (+105) | Indians +1.5 (-130)
  • Over/Under: 9 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Prediction

Indians 5, Rays 3

Money line (ML)

The INDIANS (+120) are a good play as short ‘dogs at home. Cleveland is looking for revenge after getting swept in a three-game set by the Rays in St. Petersburg, Fla., July 5-7.

Still, Quantrill is currently cruising along, and the Indians are coming off a three-game sweep last time they were home, beating the Kansas City Royals July 8-10.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

INDIANS +1.5 (-130) aren’t terribly expensive if you’re not feeling Cleveland straight up and want a little insurance. While I like Quantrill and the Tribe on the money line and I don’t trust Patino for the visitors, this isn’t a bad wager.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 9 (+100) is a strong play in this contest. The Under is 4-1 in Tampa Bay’s past five as a favorite, and the Under cashed the last time these teams met in St. Pete, a 4-0 win by the Rays July 7.

The Under is also 2-1 across Quantrill’s past three outings.

Cleveland Indians at Houston Astros odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Cleveland Indians at Houston Astros odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Cleveland Indians (47-43) and Houston Astros (56-38) play the opener of a three-game set Monday at Minute Maid Park. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Indians vs. Astros odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP J.C. Mejia is the projected starting pitcher for the Indians. He is 1-4 with a 7.42 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 8.0 K/9 and 3.3 BB/9 over 30 1/3 IP across seven starts and three relief appearances.

Mejia has been trounced in July for 12 runs on 9 hits and 4 walks in just 6 2/3 innings across two starts, both losses. One of those outings came July 1 against the Astros where he surrendered 6 ER through 4 IP. His ERA has ballooned from 4.94 to 7.42 just since June 24.

RHP Zack Greinke is the projected starting pitcher for the Astros. He is 8-3 with a 3.59 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 6.6 K/9 and 1.8 BB/9 across 115 1/3 IP in 19 starts.

Greinke lost last time out July 10 against the New York Yankees, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and a walk across 4 innings. He allowed just 3 runs, 5 hits and a walk with 8 strikeouts across 7 2/3 innings in a no-decision July 4 at Cleveland in his only other start this month.

Indians at Astros odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated Sunday at 7:45 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Indians +180 (bet $100 to win $180) | Astros -225 (bet $225 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Indians +1.5 (-110) | Astros -1.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 9 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Astros 8, Indians 2

Money line (ML)

The Astros (-225) will cost you more than two times your potential return in Monday’s series opener, and that’s not a good bet. Houston is actually 1-4 in its past five as a favorite of -200 or higher.

AVOID, and look to the run line instead.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The ASTROS -1.5 (-110) haven’t done a great job as huge favorites lately, but they should be able to get to Mejia early and often. Houston swept a four-game set at Cleveland July 1-4, including a start by Greinke. When Mejia faced the Astros earlier this month he was blasted in a 7-2 loss.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 9 (-105) is the lean, mostly due to Mejia’s ineffectiveness lately. He has been very giving and Houston should pile up the offense against him.

The Over is also 5-0 in the last five series openers for the Indians, and 7-2 in the last nine series openers for the ‘Stros.

Cleveland Indians at Oakland Athletics odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Cleveland Indians at Oakland Athletics odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Cleveland Indians (46-43) wrap up their three-game set with the Oakland Athletics (53-41) Sunday with a 4:07 p.m. ET first pitch at Oakland Coliseum. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Indians vs. Athletics odds with MLB picks and predictions.

This is the rubber match of the set as Oakland won the first game Friday 5-4 but Cleveland evened the series Saturday with a 3-2 victory.

Season series: Tied 1-1.

RHP Zach Plesac is Cleveland’s projected starter. Plesac is 4-3 with a 4.31 ERA (62 2/3 IP, 30 ER), 1.04 WHIP, 1.7 BB/9 and 6.0 K/9 over 11 starts.

  • Last outing: No-decision with 4 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 0 BB and 4 K in Cleveland’s 7-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals July 8.
  • 2021 road splits: 3-2 with a 4.94 ERA (27 1/3 IP, 15 ER), 1.28 WHIP and 1.6 K/BB rate in five starts.

RHP Chris Bassitt is Oakland’s projected starter. Bassitt is 10-2 with a 3.28 ERA (118 IP, 43 ER), 1.05 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9 and 9.0 K/9 over 19 starts.

  • Last outing: Win, 4-1, with 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB and 3 K Sunday at the Texas Rangers.
  • 2021 home splits: 4-2 with a 2.55 ERA (53 IP, 15 ER), 0.93 WHIP and 4.5 K/BB in eight starts.

Indians at Athletics odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 11:20 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Indians +135 (bet $100 to win $135) | Athletics -165 (bet $165 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Indians +1.5 (-145) | Athletics -1.5 (+120)
  • Over/Under: 8.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Indians 4, Athletics 2

Money line (ML)

PASS with a slight “lean” to the Indians (+135) because I’m going to bet Cleveland’s First 5 Innings run line. My buy-price on is “Indians (+145)” or greater so I’ll abstain from betting their money line.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

“LEAN” to the INDIANS +0.5 (-110) FIRST 5 INNINGS for a half unit because Oakland’s lineup has struggled a tad this month and a suspect “line freeze” in the betting market.

For instance, the Athletics rank 26th in wRC+, 28th in wOBA, 25th in BB/K rate and 18th in hard-hit rate in July so I like Plesac to at least keep this one close and be better in his second outing back from injury.

Furthermore, in both the money and run lines, Oakland is getting at least 80% of the action in each betting market but neither line has budged from the opener.

This gives me the impression that the House would like more pro-Athletics money and the last thing we want to do is play into the House’s hands.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the UNDER 8.5 (-115) for a half unit because of Oakland’s previously noted hitting slump, Bassitt has been dominant at home this year and the presumed “sharp” side of the market is betting the Under.

According to Pregame.com, more than 70% of the cash bet on the total is on the Under whereas a slight majority of the bets placed are on the Over.

It’s typically wiser in sports betting to follow the money especially when it’s flowing in the opposite direction as the public and the disagreement between the “wiseguy” and “average Joe” explains why the Under is juiced up to -115.

Cleveland Indians at Oakland Athletics odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Cleveland Indians at Oakland Athletics odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Cleveland Indians (45-43) and Oakland Athletics (53-40) play the second game of a three-game set Saturday at Oakland Coliseum. First pitch is scheduled for 4:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Indians vs. Athletics odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Cal Quantrill is the projected starting pitcher for the Indians. He is 1-2 with a 4.23 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 6.3 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9 over 61 2/3 IP across 8 starts and 18 relief appearances.

Quantrill allowed three earned runs, five hits and a walk with one strikeout across six innings in a 14-6 home win against the Kansas City Royals July 10. While the win was nice, he did allow two home runs.

RHP Frankie Montas is the projected starting pitcher for the Athletics. He is 8-7 with a 4.41 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 9.5 K/9 and 2.5 BB/9 across 100 innings in 18 starts.

Montas yielded one run with five hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts across 6 2/3 innings in a 2-1 win at the Houston Astros July 8. He is 1-0 with a 2.19 ERA across 12 1/3 innings in two outings in July.

  • Money line: Indians +140 (bet $100 to win $140) | Athletics -165 (bet $165 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Indians +1.5 (-140) | Athletics -1.5 (+115)
  • Over/Under: 9 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Athletics 5, Indians 2

Money line (ML)

The ATHLETICS (-165) are moderately priced in this matinee game. The Indians have dropped each of their past six as a road underdog, six in a row against the AL West and eight straight against teams with a winning record. Keep fading Cleveland until further notice.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The ATHLETICS -1.5 (+115) are a decent play on the run line in this game with a quick turnaround. You can expect both teams to be a little sleepy after playing a night game Friday, but Oakland will do enough for the win Saturday.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 9 (-115) are the play in this afternoon game after an evening affair. It’s a quick turnaround, and these teams are likely to get off to a rather slow start Saturday.

Cleveland Indians at Oakland Athletics odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Cleveland Indians at Oakland Athletics odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Oakland Athletics (52-40) open a three-game set with the Cleveland Indians (45-42) Friday at Oakland Coliseum. First pitch is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Indians vs. Athletics odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Tied 0-0.

RHP Eli Morgan is on the bump for the Indians. Morgan is 1-3 with an 8.44 ERA (21 1/3 IP, 20 ER), 1.50 WHIP, 1.7 BB/9 and 9.3 K/9 across five starts.

  • Last outing: Loss, 3-2, with 5 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 2 BB and 3 K July 3 vs. the Houston Astros.
  • 2021 road splits: 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA (5 IP, 4 ER), 4 H, 0 BB and 9 K in one start.

Odds last updated at 8:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Indians +170 (bet $100 to win $170) | Athletics -210 (bet $210 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Indians +1.5 (-115) | Athletics -1.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 8 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

Athletics 6, Indians 1

Money line (ML)

“LEAN” to the ATHLETICS (-225) FIRST 5 INNINGS for 1 unit because I prefer playing Oakland on the run line for even money and Bassitt is the far better starting pitcher but Cleveland has the much better bullpen.

However, while the Indians beat up on bad teams (30-17 vs. teams with a sub-.500 record) they are terrible against good teams (15-25 vs. teams with a winning record).

Also, Cleveland has a losing record on the road and is just 5-9 against AL West teams while Oakland has been dominant vs. AL Central teams (12-2 record) and is 27-22 at home this season.

But, Bassitt is a sleeper AL Cy Young contender and the Athletics are 14-5 in games Bassitt starts while Morgan is a rookie still figuring out the big leagues.

If you are going to bet Oakland’s money line I’d recommend just betting 1 unit on the ATHLETICS (-225) FIRST 5 INNINGS. For example, if your standard wager is $100 then I’d just risk that to earn a $44 profit.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Even though Oakland has a losing ATS record as a home favorite and Cleveland has a winning ATS record as a road underdog, I’d still lay it with the ATHLETICS -1.5 (-105) because they have such an overwhelming edge in the starting pitching matchup.

I’m confident Oakland’s lineup can do some damage to Morgan and Cleveland’s lineup will continue its struggles on the road against Bassitt. The Indians’ batters rank in the bottom 10 on the road in wRC+, wOBA, BB/K and hard-hit rate.

Again, I’d only bet Oakland’s money line or run line. However, for me, this is a good spot to BET 1 unit on the ATHLETICS -1.5 (-105).

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS with a slight “lean” to the Under 8 (-105) because Bassitt has pitched pretty well at home throughout his career, but Oakland has played more to the Over at home and Cleveland has played more to the Over on the road.

Kansas City Royals at Cleveland Indians odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Kansas City Royals at Cleveland Indians odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Kansas City Royals (36-53) and Cleveland Indians (45-42) play the finale of a four-game set Sunday at Progressive Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Royals vs. Indians odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Carlos Hernandez is the projected starting pitcher for the Royals. He is 1-0 with a 4.98 ERA, 1.66 WHIP, 6.2 BB/9 and 12.5 K/9 through 21 2/3 IP over 12 relief appearances.

He makes his first start of 2021 Sunday. He pitched a season-high 4 1/3 innings out of the bullpen May 29.

RHP Eli Morgan is the projected starting pitcher for the Indians. He is 1-3 with a 8.44 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 9.3 K/9 and 1.7 BB/9 over 21 1/3 IP through five starts.

Morgan is coming off the most complete start of his fledgling career, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks with 3 strikeouts over 5 innings against the first-place Houston Astros last Saturday, but it still ended up a loss. He has served up 8 homers on the season.

Royals at Indians odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Royals +120 (bet $100 to win $120) | Indians -140 (bet $140 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Royals +1.5 (-150) | Indians -1.5 (+125)
  • Over/Under: 9.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

Indians 8, Royals 6

Money line (ML)

The INDIANS (-140) are the lean in this series finale, as the Tribe try to hit the All-Star break with some much-needed momentum after a trying first half.

Morgan showed some signs of life last time out, and he’ll try and improve upon his strong outing against the Astros and grab his second-career victory.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The INDIANS -1.5 (+125) are worth a small-unit play, but expect to have some ups and downs. This will be a high-scoring game with a pair of very giving pitchers and Morgan struggles to keep the ball in the yard.

It might look good one minute, and then seem dire the next. Cleveland will end up winning by at least 2 in the end, just don’t get crazy betting it.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 9.5 (-115) is the best play on the board. Kansas City went into Saturday’s game having allowed 5 or more runs in five of its previous six games, and nine of its last 12.

As mentioned, Morgan has had trouble in the homers allowed department. Look for plenty of fireworks in C-Town.
